MasterCard has come up with a way to add more to the digital reading experience. You know how you flip through a magazine on your tablet and see something that you really like? Normally you’d take down the name of the product and then search online for buying options.
What MasterCard is introducing changes all that and reduces the process to a single step. The app is called ShopThis!, and it’ll let you buy the item that you want by tapping on the article or in the ads.
The item will be added to your cart, and you can then continue to flip through the contents of the magazine before finalizing the purchase and checking out.
The app works in conjunction with MasterCard’s MasterPass which offers digital and mobile payment solutions. In essence, it turns your smartphone or tablet into a credit card of sorts so you can shop, shop, shop.
ShopThis! was developed by MasterCard Labs’ incubation program, and you’ll be able to check out the first use of the technology in the November iOS issue of WIRED.

Apple To Live Stream Today’s Event
Posted in: Today's ChiliIn a few hours’ time, Apple is expected to kick off their event which many believe will see the official launch of the fifth-gen iPad, iPad mini 2 with a Retina display, as well as the possible release of OS X Mavericks, updated MacBook Pros with Intel’s Haswell chipset, a Mac Pro launch, and also the possibility of an Apple TV refresh, along with new iPod announcements to top things off. It sounds like a pretty happening event and while there will be multiple live blogs covering the event, if you’re looking for a live video stream, it has been reported by some that the “Apple Events” channel has made its way onto Apple TV devices, suggesting that Apple could offer up a live video stream of today’s event.
Apple is also expected to make the stream available through its website although as it stands, the announcement page and page for the stream itself has yet to go live, but perhaps it will in the next few hours. Previously Apple has made live streams available only through Apple devices, like the Apple TV for example, which is what they did last year for the first iPad mini event, so it won’t be a complete surprise if they did something similar again this year. In any case the event will kick off at 10AM Pacific Time on the 22nd of October, so if you’re looking forward to the event, you’ll want to keep an eye out for the event, or check back with us for more coverage.

We’re just a little over 24 hours until Apple takes the stage for their “a lot to cover” event, where many people are expecting the company to announce a new iPad or two. As you’d expect with 24 hours left until a big Apple announcement, rumors have been circulating at an increased rate. We recently saw images of what looked to be the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 covered in gold, and we heard last week Apple might be unveiling a new smart cover for the iPad 5. It looks like that last rumor may have some legs as Apple might be announcing a new Surface-style keyboard cover for the iPad 5. (more…)

With Apple’s big iPad event
New iPads! That’s the suspected plan for tomorrow’s Apple event. With much of the consumer attention now turning to the more discreet form factor of the iPad Mini, Apple’s iPad 5 needs to justify its full-size existence. And that justification may now come in the form of an Apple-built, pro-orientated keyboard cover.
