iPad Mini 2 Shell Leaked In New Photos [Rumor]

iPad Mini 2 Shell Leaked In New Photos [Rumor]

Summer is nearly behind us, which means we’ll soon be hearing about some new Apple products, which many believe their new iPhones will be released on September 20. As excited as the majority of Apple customers are to hear more about the new iPhones, iPad owners have been waiting to hear about their upcoming tablets for several months now. Specifically, the iPad Mini 2, which has just been spotted in several leaked photos.

The leaked images of the iPad 2 come to us by way of Sonny Dickson, who has been known in the past to leak a number of Apple products. As you can see, the iPad Mini 2 is expected to look nearly identical to the current iPad Mini, although we expect there to be some improvements to its internal specs, which will include an upgraded A6 processor among other things.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any pics of the iPad Mini 2′s display, which would put the debate of whether or not it’ll include a Retina Display to rest. At this point, it’s still up in the air whether or not Apple will include a high-resolution display like its Retina Display on the iPad Mini 2, but it’s looking less likely that will happen this time around.

iPad Used With Augmented Reality App In Liver Surgery

iPad Used With Augmented Reality App In Liver SurgeryWe know that Apple’s iPad has been used in a variety of different ways, some for entertainment, some for productivity, some for medical use, and now it seems that the iPad has even been used as part of a surgery! This is thanks to the use of an augmented reality app that when used together with the iPad, allowed doctors to place a 3D vessel map on top of a live video of the patient. Basically what this does is help make the doctor’s job easier and tell the surgeon where he/she needs to make their incision. Of course we expect doctors managed to do just fine without the iPad or the app, but presumably with this, complications during surgery could be minimized.

This procedure was used in Germany during a liver surgery and is supposedly one of the first surgeries of its kind in the country. It was developed by Fraunhofer MEVIS in Bremen and it seems that the trial went pretty well and they are now considering applying this technology to surgeries on other parts of the body, so the next time you see the surgeon bring in an iPad, fret not as it’s probably there to help, not for them to play Angry Birds on! In the meantime if you’d like to check out more photos, hit up the source link below for the rest, although we should warn you that some of them are pretty graphic!

Asphalt 8: Airborne launches with NVIDIA SHIELD, Tesla Model S, barrel rolls

The 8th generation of Gameloft’s rather successful racing game franchise is out today for both iOS and Android devices in Asphalt 8: Airborne. This game takes another step toward making a truly worthy translation of the 2008 movie Speed Racer to the gaming universe. Though it’s not Gameloft saying they’re doing so, it certainly appears […]

Cheaper tablets incoming: low-cost touch panel pressure on in Taiwan

With the success of tablets like the Google Nexus 7 seeing a second generation here in 2013, it would appear that the pressure is on for not just processor manufacturers but display panel makers to optimize their lower-end. With the creation of NVIDIA’s Kai strategy was laid the tracks for the miniature freight train that […]

Fraunhofer iPad app guides liver surgery through augmented reality

Fraunhofer iPad app guides liver surgery through augmented reality

Liver surgery is more than a little dangerous — with so many blood vessels, one wrong cut can lead to disaster. Fraunhofer MEVIS has just tested a new generation of augmented reality iPad app that could minimize those risks. The tool puts a 3D vessel map on top of live video of a patient, telling the surgeon where it’s safe to make incisions. Doctors who do need to cut vessels can predict the level of blood loss and remove affected vessels from the map. The trial was successful enough that Fraunhofer MEVIS sees the new technology applying to surgery elsewhere in the body. If all goes well, there should be fewer accidents during tricky operations of many kinds — a big relief for those of us going under the knife.

Apple’s iPad Market Share In China Slips to 28%

Apples iPad Market Share In China Slips to 28%Apple’s iPad for the past few years has been considered the tablet to beat, although recent reports seem to suggest that the Cupertino company’s tablet could be losing its grip on the market and lose market share to the likes to their Android competitors. Well thanks to a recent report from the IDG News Service, it certainly seems that is the case as far as the Chinese market is concerned. While Apple has typically maintained more than a 50% market share in China, the latest figures show that Apple’s iPad market share has experienced a drastic drop to about 28%.

However for Apple and iPad fans around the world, it is not all that bleak as 28% still puts Apple way ahead of the competition from the likes of Samsung who shipped around 11%, Lenovo at 8%, and other manufacturers at around 1% each. According to the report, some reasons why the iPad’s market share could be slipping is due to the affordability of tablets from Android competitors not just from Samsung or Lenovo, but “white box” vendors who are putting out low-cost tablets that appeal to those shopping on a budget. Will Apple’s iPad market share continue to slip or will Apple be able to pull themselves back up? We guess only time can tell!
