There are two reasons why I’m not a fan of most wireless chargers for mobile devices: they make it awkward to use your device while it’s charging and they require bulky cases for your mobile device. Slimo easily takes care of my second complaint. The first one? Not so much.
Unfortunate name choice aside, Slimo is indeed slimey slim. Instead of a bulky case it takes the form of a conductive patch that’s just 0.014″ thick. The patch delivers power to newer iOS devices via a Lightning connector. This means that you can attach Slimo without removing your iOS device’s case. You can even keep it underneath a case, as long as the latter isn’t made of metal. Slimo will work with any charging base that complies with the Qi Wireless standard.
Place your browser flat on your computer and try using it without lifting it off. Then pledge at least £22 (~$37 USD) on Kickstarter to get a Slimo patch as a reward. Pledge at least £39 (~$65 USD) to get a Slimo and a wireless charging base combo.

Back in 2011, we caught wind of the possibility that Microsoft could be bringing their Office productivity suites onto the iPad. This is a no-brainer actually given the ubiquitous nature of the iPad, but for whatever reason, Microsoft has yet to release the app fast forward three years later.
There have been conflicting reports suggesting that Office for the iPad would only be released as a touch-friendly version for Windows was released, but then later it was suggested that the app might even see a release in the first half of 2014. Now according to a report from Reuters, it has been revealed that Office for the iPad is actually good to go, and that they’re just waiting on Microsoft’s new CEO, Satya Nadella, to decide on a launch date. In the past, Apple has gotten a fair amount of flak regarding working conditions in the factories of their partners, such as Foxconn. Apple has since made efforts to change that perception by instating rules and regulations that would ensure that their manufacturing partners adhere to certain guidelines.
In fact these guidelines extend to the use of conflict material in Apple products to ensure that certain components are not sourced from particular regions in the world. However it seems that despite Apple’s best practices to ensure that their partners follow their guidelines, there are some who feel that Apple has not done enough. (more…)

With the iPhone 5c, it was Apple’s attempt at releasing a more affordable iPhone handset. It wasn’t exactly that much cheaper, meaning that customers who wanted an iPhone would much rather pay a little more to get the latest hardware, rather than slightly less for older technology, which might explain why the phone is a flop.
However it seems that despite the apparent failure of the iPhone 5c, Apple still has its eye on emerging markets such as India, and according to a recent report from The Economic Times, it has been suggested that Apple is looking to open up more retail stores in India to help push the iPhone to customers living in the region.
