Grand Theft Auto has long been known for parodying everything from vehicles, to advertising, to pop culture, to even the technology that dominates the time. So it’s not surprising to see one of the characters in the recently released GTA V using an iPhone parody called the iFruit. And now you can actually get your hands on one—kind of.
Desperation has nearly set in for seekers of the gold iPhone 5s in China – and it’s not just Apple that’s cashing in. What’s appearing now are massive amounts of standardized shiny gold stickers for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5, each of them made to make the non-gold editions of the device look a […]
Last year when the iPhone 5 was released, many early adopters reported that the paint was peeling off from their new iPhones. Some even found that their new smartphone came bearing scratches straight out of the box. The issue wasn’t widespread, and the reports didn’t come in after the initial stock had all been sold out. Apparently a similar issue has surfaced with the iPhone 5s as well, with some users complaining of iPhone 5s paint peeling off.
A picture has surfaced online via Sina Weibo which shows off an iPhone 5s with scratches at the bottom and paint apparently peeling off. Last year, some early adopters claimed that the iPhone 5 would have a lot of scratches and scuffs on the sides as well as the back. It warrants mentioning here that the only report of such an issue with the latest iPhone has come out of China as yet. The issue doesn’t seem to be as common as it was last year, with the iPhone 5. However, if you’ve noticed this on your new iPhone 5s, or had to return a unit just because it was already scratched when you opened the box, do leave a comment below and tell us about it. iPhone 5s Paint Peeling Off Issue Reported original content from Ubergizmo.
A couple of days ago we saw MobileFun’s sticker kit that makes an iPhone 5 look like an iPhone 5S, sorta. It turns out they have a sillier stick-on conversion kit for the iPhone 5. The iFruit vinyl skin is based on Rockstar Games’ eponymous companion app for Grand Theft Auto V. I bet they find this sticker hilarious.
Because the phones are about the same size, the vinyl should fit the iPhone 5s as well. You can order the iFruit skin from MobileFun for $13 (USD). Man, mocking oneself is expensive. To complete the transformation, change your phone’s wallpaper to one of the iFruit app’s backgrounds. Se7ensins forum member Tag 7s extracted the images from the app itself.

This week a hoax was dropped by the likes of some as-yet-unknown graphic designer who had a hankering for some iOS 7 trickery. The first joke in this series consisted of a series of images that suggested an upgrade to iOS 7 would include full waterproofing of whatever device you bumped to the new operating […]
The teardown of the iPhone 5s has officially gotten microscopic. With the team at chipworks making it their mission to get down and dirty with the heartiest Apple chip on the market today, the iPhone 5s has joined the ranks of the devices that our current teardown culture has seen fit to take apart down […]
Earlier this week, a teardown by IHS revealed that Apple’s iPhone 5c costs the company $173 to produce, representing a 12 percent reduction compared to the iPhone 5. The entry-level iPhone 5s, meanwhile, sets customers back $199. The news was not at all surprising. Apple has for years been building products for a relatively cheap […]

Posted in: Today's ChiliApple released its iPhone 5S this past weekend, although we’re sure those of you who own an iPhone 5 may not want to pay full retail price for the next iPhone for one reason or another. You could always attempt to win the iPhone 5S through a sketchy giveaway on your social media network of choice, or you can just spend $24 to have those around you think you’re someone who is way more important than you actually are by tricking them into thinking you own an iPhone 5S. iPhone 5S $24 Upgrade Kit Turns Your iPhone 5 Into The Latest iPhone… Sort Of original content from Ubergizmo.
Can’t afford an iPhone 5S? Just don’t want to wait for one to show up? Recently bought an iPhone 5 that you can’t return anymore? No worries. For just $24, you can transform your iPhone 5 into Apple’s newest smartphone… minus the features.
MobileFun has debuted a bunch of vinyl kits that will let you do just this. Each kit comes with a complete set of stickers that’ll allow you to cover up your existing iPhone 5 and give it a 5S makeover. From the currently sold-out gold iPhone 5S to the silver and space gray devices, these kits are supposed to let you cheat your way to get the look of the 5S. Or maybe not…
Too bad the kit can’t somehow bring along any of the upgrades or features the iPhone 5S got either. Guess you get what you pay for.

Posted in: Today's ChiliAccording to Forbes, Microsoft will be giving away 200 bucks of in-store credit to anyone who trades in a used iPhone 4S or iPhone 5. Microsoft already has a standing trade-in offer for the iPad, so it’s pretty obvious that Microsoft is willing to throw money at you to get you to switch from Apple.
