Apple might be less than two days away from unveiling its brand new iPhones, that doesn’t mean the leaks and rumors are going to stop. Earlier today we picked up on a purported iPhone 5S box that hints at the possibility of it having a fingerprint scanner. Apple is also expected to unveil the iPhone 5C this year, its first ever budget smartphone. The alleged logic board of iPhone 5C has leaked online, it sports minor changes as opposed to the iPhone 5 logic board. iPhone 5C’s internals are expected to be quite similar to the existing iPhone.

Since much of the logic board pictured here is covered by protective EMI cover, the internal circuitry is almost completely hidden. The accelerometer is thought to be repositioned or hidden beneath five connection points used for the speakers, microphone, display and other components. The area where the chip is located on iPhone 5 is said to be identical on this purported iPhone 5C logic board, this isn’t much of a surprise, since Apple is expected to go with the same processor so as to reduce build cost. Apart from these subtle tweaks, not much can be gathered about the upcoming budget iPhone from this part. The other day we reported that Canadian carrier, Telus, was reportedly looking to discontinue the 32GB and 64GB iPhone 5 models, leaving only the 16GB iPhone 5 model to choose from. Now it looks like Vodafone Germany is said to be following suit and according to leaked screenshots of the carrier’s ERP system, it certainly looks like that will be the case. It is unclear as to why Vodafone Germany is looking to discontinue the 32GB and 64GB iPhone 5 models, but it has been suggested in the past that the iPhone 5C is expected to replace older iPhone models as the entry-level device, meaning that the 16GB iPhone 5 model could be a happy middle between the low-cost iPhone 5C and the brand new iPhone 5S.

It had been speculated in the past that Apple could be looking to replace the entire iPhone 5 lineup with the iPhone 5C, but if that were the case, there would be no reason to keep the 16GB model around, which echoes our earlier logic which seems to be in line with Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster, who believes the 16GB iPhone 5 could be an intermediate model.
