Apple Halved iPhone 5c Production Orders (Rumor)

Apple Halved iPhone 5c Production Orders (Rumor)So, the iPhone 5c has gone through its fair amount of abuse in the past, where one of them include having it shot at with a .50 caliber rifle. Well, it might seem to be a rather foolhardy move that, but this has not actually made the iPhone 5c all the more desirable. In fact, everywhere you go where the next generation iPhones are on sale, most folks would have gone for the iPhone 5s instead of the iPhone 5c. In fact, there are now rumblings on the ground that Apple has already halved the production orders of the iPhone 5c, which is not good news at all.

This particular report hails from the folks over at CTechCN, where it is suggested that the number of iPhone 5c devices produced each day has been dropped to just 150,000 units instead of the initial 300,000 per day order. CTechCN has had its fair share of hits in the past, so it is most likely that this rumor by them could turn out to be true. Are you one bit surprised by this piece of news? After all, when Apple reported the sales of their iPhones, they lumped all the iPhones together without a particular model breakdown. If the new generation iPhones did well, I am quite sure that they would have trumpeted that fact alone instead, it is logical to do so.

Official iPhone 5c cases “fixed” with CaseCollage filler

If you’ve had your hands on the official Apple-made iPhone 5c cases with a real-deal iPhone 5c, you may have noticed an oddity on the backside – the word iPhone is covered up here and there by the uniform design of the case’s grid of holes. This grid presents a bit of an oddity in […]

Apple Looking For Someone With Knowledge Of China Mobile’s Unique Network

Apple Looking For Someone With Knowledge Of China Mobiles Unique Network

If there haven’t already been many hints of the impending launch of the iPhones on China Mobile, here is another one. Apple has a new position open at its Beijing office who has knowledge and experience of working with China Mobile’s homegrown unique network standard. The person hired in this position will be required to “support and drive the carrier approval of mobile phones.” Now the company won’t be doing that if it didn’t have any plans of bringing its smartphones over to the world’s largest mobile carrier, which touts more than 700 million subscribers. Only recently Apple received the network access license required to put its new iPhones on China Mobile’s network, so its probably just a matter of time before an official announcement of the partnership is made.

China Mobile has never offered the iPhone, ever. It has had a number of discussions with Apple and it is believed that a favorable arrangement has now been hashed out. Purported promotional material depicting iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c available on China Mobile has leaked, while only recently we saw a leaked screenshot of an iPhone 5s working on China Mobile’s unique TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE standards which aren’t used by any other carriers. China Mobile said a few months back that it is keen on selling the iPhone, though several technical and commercial issued remains. Hopefully they’ll be cleared up soon so that current and prospective China Mobile customers can finally get their hands on the new iPhones, officially.

Best Buy Offers $100 For Any Working Smartphone To Trade-In With A New iPhone

Best Buy Offers $100 For Any Working Smartphone To Trade In With A New iPhone

It was rumored recently that Best Buy is going to launch yet another iPhone promotion. This particular promotion would see the retailer offering $100 for any working smartphone, the $100 would then have to be put towards the purchase of a new iPhone 5s or a new iPhone 5c. Today Best Buy officially announced the trade-in program. It will give a minimum $100 gift card for any working smartphone that’s traded in, customers must use the gift card to purchase a new iPhone, it can’t be put towards anything else.

So the entry level 16GB iPhone 5c is essentially free at Best Buy, notwithstanding the fact that customers will have to sign up for a two year contract. The 16GB iPhone 5c is offered for $99 on contract. The 16GB iPhone 5s comes down to $99 on contract from its MSRP of $199, thus offering significant savings for those willing to trade-in any of their old working smartphones for a brand spanking new iPhone. Bear in mind though that customers will still have to pay any activation fees and applicable sales tax, and they must also be eligible for an upgrade to get these prices. This promotion runs from October 13th to October 19th, but its available for the iPhone 5c starting today.

Apple Details Availability Of New iPhones Beyond Launch Markets

Apple Details Availability Of New iPhones Beyond Launch Markets

Last month Apple finally announced its two new smartphones, the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. Both smartphones were initially released in a select number of markets, which included the U.S., China, Japan, Australia, Singapore and a number of countries in Europe. With the initial launch frenzy taken care of in these markets, the company has now decided to detail launch plans for the new iPhones in other markets. Come October 25th, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be available in 30 additional countries.

Quite a lot of these new countries are located in Europe, while Taiwan, Thailand and Macau make the list as well. South Korea is on it as well, it will be interesting to see how both smartphones perform there, given the fact that it is the home turf of Apple’s biggest rival, Samsung. Expansion of international availability doesn’t stop after October 25th. On November 1st, the new iPhones will become available in as many as 16 countries, including the UAE, India, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Mexico and Malaysia. Pricing will obviously vary in different countries, though it can be said without a doubt that iPhone aficionados in those countries will be stoked about the official launch of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in their respective nations.

iPhone 5s And 5c Make Their Way To 35 New Markets Oct. 25, 17 More On Nov. 1

    iphone5s-iphone5c

Apple has just announced the next round of launch dates for the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, and a total of 52 new markets will get the devices by November 1, with a batch of 17 getting the smartphones by November 1. The first round includes Italy, Russia, Spain and South Korea, while the second group includes India, Mexico and Turkey.

Typically, Apple’s second big launch after their initial one is when the device becomes available in China, but this year China got the new iPhones at the same time as the U.S., the UK and Canada, marking a first for an Apple launch. That means these additional countries should prove the key ones to watch in terms of judging additional spikes from international sales, but we’ll likely see less of a bump than we have previously with China debuts. Apple has yet to launch the iPhone with China Mobile, however, and that could prove another high point for sales, should it arrive in 2014 as predicted by some analysts.

A full list of new countries and markets getting the iPhone follows, arranged by date:

Oct. 25: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, French West Indies, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion Island, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and Thailand.

Nov. 1: Albania, Armenia, Bahrain, Colombia, El Salvador, Guam, Guatemala, India, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and UAE.

iPhone 5C Gets Shot With A .50 Caliber Rifle

It was nearly one month ago when Apple announced its iPhone 5C, which went on sale shortly after its announcement. The colorful iPhone 5C is a device people either love or could absolutely do without considering the iPhone 5S is around. We’ve seen both devices go through some torture tests in the past, but have you seen the iPhone 5C getting shot with a .50 caliber rifle? Probably not, although we’re looking to completely change that right now.

Watch the iPhone 5C Get Obliterated By a .50 Caliber Rifle

In all your years of owning an iPhone, I hope you never have to use it as a bulletproof vest. Because it wouldn’t work. It might be able to survive a soft drop on the dirt and come away cracked on concrete and barely scathe away after a quick dip in water but when you pit a iPhone 5C in all its plastic glory against a .50 cal rifle, it’s going down in explosive slow motion fashion. The real question is how many iPhone 5Cs can a .50 cal rifle destroy at one time. [RatedRR]
