Apple iPhone 5c sneaks up on 5s in sales, surprises everyone

In a surprising report by Localytics, the iPhone 5c has been shown to be catching up to the iPhone 5s in sales both within the US and globally. The 5c has seen some ups and downs. Apple initially thought it would sell many more than the 5s, but the 5s quickly took over and skyrocketed […]

iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C Headed To Boost Mobile November 8

iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C Headed To Boost Mobile November 8

Apple’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C have been released across a number of wireless carriers around the world, but both devices continue to become available on a number of additional carriers shortly after their official release. Earlier today, we heard the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C would be making their way to U.S. Cellular on November 8, and it looks like we can add another wireless carrier to the list as Boost Mobile is announcing they’ll have Apple’s latest iPhones starting on November 8 as well. GarageBand for iOS 7 to be offered for free with in-app purchases

It seems that someone at Apple got a wee bit excited and accidentally revealed way too much ahead of the company’s Tuesday event. Briefly appearing on its Built-in Apps page for the iPhone 5s was a footnote indicating that GarageBand will be available as free app download. Of course, with in-app purchase options. iOS 7, […]

Gold iPhone 5s Nicknamed As ‘The Kardashian Phone’ By Apple Employees

Gold iPhone 5s Nicknamed As ‘The Kardashian Phone’ By Apple EmployeesWhen Apple first announced both the iPhone 5s as well as the iPhone 5c, I am pretty sure that they did not expect demand for the gold version of the iPhone 5s to far outstrip the other colors (silver and gray), and the supposed budget friendly iPhone 5c did not manage to capture the hearts and imagination of as many people as Apple wanted. Well, apparently word has gotten out that the gold iPhone 5s was given a nickname by some Apple employees, who have jokingly called it ‘The Kardashian Phone’. This is apparently no rumor, as it has been tweeted out by the NYT’s Nick Bilton.

Of course, one ought to bear in mind that this is far from a serious code name, as it remains nothing more than an internal joke. After all, Kim Kardashian herself seems to have a penchant for all things bling, with her owning an iPhone 5 which came in anodized gold way ahead of Apple’s iPhone 5s, as depicted in the image above. What do you think future colors of the iPhone generations will look like? Will gold be a mainstay from now on considering that it is the apparent popularity in popularity stakes to date? You can check out more of the gold iPhone 5s in Apple’s first iPhone 5s TV ad which was run earlier today.

iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c Arriving On US Cellular 8th November

iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c Arriving On US Cellular 8th NovemberGood new US Cellular customers, if you guys were a little jealous that the other major carriers, such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile were all offering their subscribers Apple’s new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, you’re in luck because US Cellular has announced that they soon will start carrying both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c come Friday, November the 8th, according to an advertisement on its website. We’re not sure what took US Cellular so long to make the announcement, especially since other smaller carriers have since debuted the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on their networks, but we guess better late than never, right?

In any case we expect that the addition of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c to US Cellular’s portfolio of smartphones will help maintain, perhaps even expand, its current subscriber base. We have seen in the past how carriers who do not offer the iPhone to its customers have basically chased them away to competing carriers that do, so we guess it is in US Cellular’s best interest to offer up the phone as soon as possible! No word on how much the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will cost on US Cellular’s network, but presumably its asking price on-contract will be similar to the price that other carriers are asking for. Either way if you’re a US Cellular subscriber looking forward to either device, the 8th of November is a date you’ll want to mark down on your calendar.

Apple releases gold iPhone 5s ad in advance of Oct. 22 iPad event

Apple has released a TV advertisement for the iPhone 5s that celebrates the gold-colored version of its newest flagship phone. The 30-second spot shows the sides and back of a white iPhone being slowly coated in liquid gold. The ad comes in response to the positive reception of and high demand for the gold iPhone […]

    iPhone 5s TV Ad Runs

You would think that a giant of a company like Apple would not need any kind of advertising to get the sales figures of its products going, but apparently, great marketing is essential for the success of any product or company. The iPhone 5c, for example, has already seen TV ads run recently, although it has not done much to make people want to purchase the smartphone, and the iPhone 5s which does not seem to need the help of ads to sell has finally seen its TV ad campaign kick off in the US. The first of such commercials was shown off during some NFL games, and it does seem to place plenty of emphasis on the shade of gold.

This particular clip that you see above hails from Apple’s YouTube channel, where it certainly showcases the gold version of the iPhone 5s, using a cleverly animated sequence which does seem to evoke the sense of the handset being made out of actual liquid gold that is later cooled down so that it can make up the case. What about the sliver and gray iPhone 5s? I guess those are just afterthoughts in the bigger scheme of things. Certainly the gold iPhone 5s is going to be the most sought after color version for the current iPhone generation.

Apple Reportedly Boosting iPhone 5s Production Amid iPhone 5c Cuts

Apple Reportedly Boosting iPhone 5s Production Amid iPhone 5c Cuts

Over the last couple of weeks we have heard again and again that Apple is cutting iPhone 5c production. It has been rumored that there’s weak demand for the company’s “unapologetically plastic” iPhone, so Apple needs to cut down on production so that its doesn’t end up sitting on a huge pile of unsold iPhone 5c units. Verizon CFO recently said that the iPhone 5c had “undersold expectations,” though he added that the iPhone 5s is performing well. Reports of strong demand for iPhone 5s have been coming in as well, and it is now being reported that Apple is ramping up production of its fingerprint sensor touting smartphone.

The report comes from NPD DisplaySearch, which cites supply chain checks. Apparently Apple has cut iPhone 5c production by 35 percent whereas it has ramped up iPhone 5s production by a whopping 75 percent. The increase is said to be due to high demand. Apple hasn’t released any official sales figures after the opening weekend, so its not known for sure where demand stands for the iPhone 5c. The company is likely to get grilled about it during its call with analysts on October 28th, maybe we’ll learn more about the situation iPhone 5c is in then.

iPhone 5s confirmed fastest phone in independent ranking test

The iPhone 5s beat out the LG G2 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 in Which? magazine’s latest independent speed test of top-performing smartphones. Using a phone simulation program called Geekbench, the test found that the iPhone outperformed the competition in both single-core and multi-core performance benchmarks. Notably, the S4 slipped to third place after having […]
