Best Buy Offers $100 For Any Working Smartphone To Trade In With A New iPhone

It was rumored recently that Best Buy is going to launch yet another iPhone promotion. This particular promotion would see the retailer offering $100 for any working smartphone, the $100 would then have to be put towards the purchase of a new iPhone 5s or a new iPhone 5c. Today Best Buy officially announced the trade-in program. It will give a minimum $100 gift card for any working smartphone that’s traded in, customers must use the gift card to purchase a new iPhone, it can’t be put towards anything else.

So the entry level 16GB iPhone 5c is essentially free at Best Buy, notwithstanding the fact that customers will have to sign up for a two year contract. The 16GB iPhone 5c is offered for $99 on contract. The 16GB iPhone 5s comes down to $99 on contract from its MSRP of $199, thus offering significant savings for those willing to trade-in any of their old working smartphones for a brand spanking new iPhone. Bear in mind though that customers will still have to pay any activation fees and applicable sales tax, and they must also be eligible for an upgrade to get these prices. This promotion runs from October 13th to October 19th, but its available for the iPhone 5c starting today.

iPad 5 Space Gray Casing High Quality Pictures

iPad 5 Space Gray Casing High Quality Pictures

The world anxiously waits for Apple to finally unveil its new tablets. It is expected that Apple will unveil two new iPads later this month, if that is not the case, it is probably going to launch the iPad 5 alone any way. There has been a lot of speculation about this tablet, particularly about its looks. Big changes are expected from the iPad 5 in the design department, this would be the first time that the iPad would receive a major design change after the iPad 2, which was launched back in 2011. A number of high quality pictures of a purported iPad 5 casing in space gray color have appeared online.

This is actually the first time that such high quality pictures of this purported part have been seen, we’ve previously seen the same component in the same color in a rather low quality video. The part is identical to the plethora of iPad 5 casings we’ve seen up till now, no surprises there. It bears resemblance to the iPad mini, which it is expected to have. The space gray color was introduced with the iPhone 5s last month, it replaces the traditional black color that Apple has previously offered. Yesterday it was rumored that Apple is going to hold its iPad event on October 22nd, the company hasn’t officially confirmed it as yet.

Apparently Galaxy Note 3 With Fingerprint Scanner Didn’t Pass Samsung Quality Control

Apparently Galaxy Note 3 With Fingerprint Scanner Didnt Pass Samsung Quality Control

Long before the new phablet was officially announced, the internet was abuzz with rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come with a fingerprint scanner. When the phablet was unveiled last month, it become clear that all those rumors weren’t true. Samsung didn’t even mention a fingerprint scanner or hint at the possibility of upcoming devices having it. A new report from Korea’s ETNews claims that Samsung did have plans to put a fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy Note 3, but that particular feature didn’t make the cut because apparently it didn’t pass the quality assurance tests.

The primary function of the sensor would obviously have been easy locking and unlocking of the device, Apple allows users to also make payments on iTunes through Touch ID, the fingerprint scanner it has put into the iPhone 5s. It isn’t exactly clear why the Galaxy Note 3 with fingerprint reading ability didn’t pass quality assurance tests, the report suggests that Samsung had some trouble getting the size of the scanner right. It also suggests that Samsung hasn’t given up on this technology and that we actually might see a Galaxy Note 3 variant which brings the feature. No word as yet on when such a variant will be released though. The next highly anticipated device with a rumored fingerprint sensor is the HTC One Max, which is likely to be unveiled next week.

Apple Details Availability Of New iPhones Beyond Launch Markets

Apple Details Availability Of New iPhones Beyond Launch Markets

Last month Apple finally announced its two new smartphones, the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. Both smartphones were initially released in a select number of markets, which included the U.S., China, Japan, Australia, Singapore and a number of countries in Europe. With the initial launch frenzy taken care of in these markets, the company has now decided to detail launch plans for the new iPhones in other markets. Come October 25th, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be available in 30 additional countries.

Quite a lot of these new countries are located in Europe, while Taiwan, Thailand and Macau make the list as well. South Korea is on it as well, it will be interesting to see how both smartphones perform there, given the fact that it is the home turf of Apple’s biggest rival, Samsung. Expansion of international availability doesn’t stop after October 25th. On November 1st, the new iPhones will become available in as many as 16 countries, including the UAE, India, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Mexico and Malaysia. Pricing will obviously vary in different countries, though it can be said without a doubt that iPhone aficionados in those countries will be stoked about the official launch of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in their respective nations.

iPhone 5s And 5c Make Their Way To 35 New Markets Oct. 25, 17 More On Nov. 1

    iphone5s-iphone5c

Apple has just announced the next round of launch dates for the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, and a total of 52 new markets will get the devices by November 1, with a batch of 17 getting the smartphones by November 1. The first round includes Italy, Russia, Spain and South Korea, while the second group includes India, Mexico and Turkey.

Typically, Apple’s second big launch after their initial one is when the device becomes available in China, but this year China got the new iPhones at the same time as the U.S., the UK and Canada, marking a first for an Apple launch. That means these additional countries should prove the key ones to watch in terms of judging additional spikes from international sales, but we’ll likely see less of a bump than we have previously with China debuts. Apple has yet to launch the iPhone with China Mobile, however, and that could prove another high point for sales, should it arrive in 2014 as predicted by some analysts.

A full list of new countries and markets getting the iPhone follows, arranged by date:

Oct. 25: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, French West Indies, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion Island, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and Thailand.

Nov. 1: Albania, Armenia, Bahrain, Colombia, El Salvador, Guam, Guatemala, India, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and UAE.
