Leaked Screenshots Allegedly Show iPhone 5s Running On China Mobile

Leaked Screenshots Allegedly Show iPhone 5s Running On China Mobile

There has already been a lot of speculation about China Mobile officially launching the new iPhones. The largest mobile carrier in the world, China Mobile, boasts more than 700 million subscribers but it has never officially offered the iPhone before. It is expected to carry both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, purported promotional posters hinting at this possibility have already been leaked. Today, alleged pictures of the iPhone 5s running on China Mobile’s network have surfaced online.

A few months back China Mobile said that it is keen on selling the iPhone, but it couldn’t do so yet as certain commercial and technical issues remained in the way. The carrier’s rivals have already been offering both new iPhones in China. This time around, Apple made the new iPhones available in China the day they were released in the U.S. and other select initial launch markets. It appears right now that it is no longer a matter of “if” the new iPhones will be launched on China Mobile, what matters now is “when” the new iPhones will be launched on this carrier. Apple has already received the required regulatory approval to put its smartphones on China Mobile’s network, whereas the carrier is expected to receive approval to light up its TD-LTE network for commercial use by mid-October, after which it is expected to formally and finally launch the iPhones. Boost Mobile iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c Purported Ads Leaked

Boost Mobile iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c Purported Ads Leaked

Boost Mobile is a prepaid carrier which is owned by Sprint. Boost has never officially sold iPhones before, despite the fact that the smartphones have been available from Sprint since 2011. That might be about to change though. The infamous Twitter leaker @evleaks has posted purported Boost Mobile ads which point towards the possibility of the prepaid carrier offering both new iPhones, the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, for sale in the near future.

The leaked ads don’t explicitly mention when both new iPhones are going to be available. No pricing information is present on them, but the ads do suggest that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c might be eligible for Boost’s monthly unlimited plan with “shrinking payments.” Boost won’t actually be the first prepaid U.S. carrier to offer the iPhone. Rivals Cricket and Straight Talk have offered the iPhone in the past, whereas Virgin Mobile will launch the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on October 1st. The U.S. branch of Virgin Mobile is controlled by Sprint. Apple unveiled both new iPhones earlier this month, they were released in select markets on September 20th. Soon after the launch, Apple claimed that demand for both new iPhones is “incredible.” [Image via Twitter]

iPhone 5s In-Store Pick Up Service Is Back

iPhone 5s In Store Pick Up Service Is Back

We reported last week that Apple might bring back the in-store pick up service for iPhone 5s this week. Indeed it has. Starting today, the personal pick up option is now available to customers who wish to purchase Apple’s latest smartphone. To use this service, customers must make the purchase through the App Store app for iOS devices or through the Apple online store. They’ll then be given the option to select an Apple Store closest to their location from where they can go and personally pick up their new iPhone. Its as simple as that.

When the iPhone 5s was first launched, the in-store pick up service was offered. Though Apple pulled a plug on it after merely one day. This lead many to believe that perhaps it had done that due to short supply of iPhone 5s, while some claimed that perhaps the service had gone live earlier than expected due to a glitch.Even though personal pick up is now being offered, inventory at Apple Retail Stores in the U.S. remains thin. The online store already lists an estimate ship date in October for the iPhone 5s. Searching for Apple Stores near you will further reveal if units are available there for pick up or not.

Gold iPhone 5s madness reaches fever pitch: China turns to stickers

Desperation has nearly set in for seekers of the gold iPhone 5s in China – and it’s not just Apple that’s cashing in. What’s appearing now are massive amounts of standardized shiny gold stickers for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5, each of them made to make the non-gold editions of the device look a […]

DNP Switched On The why of the 'i' buy

For the past few years, the media has met iPhone introductions with skepticism that precedes great sales success. This has become such a cliché that the superstitious might worry what would happen should new iPhones be introduced to universal praise. But there was no cause for worry as far as the iPhone 5c and 5s were concerned. In the weekend following their initial availability, Apple reported that it sold 9 million iPhones, which set a new record for the company.

A few of the reasons behind this success likely had less to do with the strength of the product per se. The new iPhones were launched in 11 countries as opposed to nine in the previous launch. The fast-growing market of China was one of those. It was also the first launch to include Japan’s NTT DoCoMo. And back in the U.S. this marked the first time that new iPhones had been launched on all four major US carriers — a significant shift from the product’s first years as an AT&T exclusive. In fact, T-Mobile, the newest carrier to participate in an iPhone debut, has been particularly aggressive about promoting its Jump service that encourages upgrades, and its competitors have introduced their own upgrade-facilitation programs that grease the upgrade wheels for Apple and others.

iPhone 5s Paint Peeling Off Issue Reported

iPhone 5s Paint Peeling Off Issue Reported

Last year when the iPhone 5 was released, many early adopters reported that the paint was peeling off from their new iPhones. Some even found that their new smartphone came bearing scratches straight out of the box. The issue wasn’t widespread, and the reports didn’t come in after the initial stock had all been sold out. Apparently a similar issue has surfaced with the iPhone 5s as well, with some users complaining of iPhone 5s paint peeling off.

A picture has surfaced online via Sina Weibo which shows off an iPhone 5s with scratches at the bottom and paint apparently peeling off. Last year, some early adopters claimed that the iPhone 5 would have a lot of scratches and scuffs on the sides as well as the back. It warrants mentioning here that the only report of such an issue with the latest iPhone has come out of China as yet. The issue doesn’t seem to be as common as it was last year, with the iPhone 5. However, if you’ve noticed this on your new iPhone 5s, or had to return a unit just because it was already scratched when you opened the box, do leave a comment below and tell us about it. iFruit Vinyl Skin Turns iPhone 5 into GTA 5 Phone

A couple of days ago we saw MobileFun’s sticker kit that makes an iPhone 5 look like an iPhone 5S, sorta. It turns out they have a sillier stick-on conversion kit for the iPhone 5. The iFruit vinyl skin is based on Rockstar Games’ eponymous companion app for Grand Theft Auto V. I bet they find this sticker hilarious.

Because the phones are about the same size, the vinyl should fit the iPhone 5s as well. You can order the iFruit skin from MobileFun for $13 (USD). Man, mocking oneself is expensive. To complete the transformation, change your phone’s wallpaper to one of the iFruit app’s backgrounds. Se7ensins forum member Tag 7s extracted the images from the app itself.

iPhone 5s In-Store Pick Up Reportedly Resuming Next Week

iPhone 5s In Store Pick Up Reportedly Resuming Next Week

Apple didn’t offer a pre-order program for the iPhone 5s this year, presumably due to supply constraints. However after the new smartphone was launched, the company did allow customers to order a new iPhone 5s through its online store or the Apple Store app and then pick up that unit a day later at an Apple Retail Store. The ability to do this was taken away just after one day, though according to 9to5Mac, Apple may resume iPhone 5s in-store pickup service next week.

Apple hasn’t commented on this report, so it can not be said for sure if iPhone 5s in-store pickup will definitely be resumed next week. It is not known why Apple made the service available and then pulled it after one day, presumably the service went live early due to a glitch. It is also believed that perhaps the service was pulled due to low iPhone 5s stock and the fact that Apple wanted to keep as many units in the inventory as possible at its retail stores to cater to walk-in customers. As per the report, the iPhone 5s in-store pick up service might be resumed as early as Monday, September 30th. Apple is likely to continue to use a “queue card” system for walk-in customers until the initial strong demand diminishes.

Love it or hate it, you have no choice but to download iOS 7

Apple’s iOS 7 has been a lightning rod of controversy over the last week. Of course, that […]

iOS 7 Waterproof hoax expands with “AirDrop protection”

This week a hoax was dropped by the likes of some as-yet-unknown graphic designer who had a hankering for some iOS 7 trickery. The first joke in this series consisted of a series of images that suggested an upgrade to iOS 7 would include full waterproofing of whatever device you bumped to the new operating […]
