iPhone 5s Teardown Confirms Slightly Larger Battery

iPhone 5s Teardown Confirms Slightly Larger BatteryInterestingly enough during Apple’s unveiling of the iPhone 5s, Apple didn’t exactly boast about the phone’s battery life which they normally do during iPhone presentations, leaving many to wonder if the phone would use the same battery as the iPhone 5 which would be a bit of a bummer. However thanks to FCC filings, it has been found that the battery on the iPhone 5s is 10% larger than the iPhone 5 and comes with a 1,570mAh battery over the iPhone 5’s 1,440mAh. However if you’re still a little skeptical, the first iPhone 5s teardown as indeed confirmed that the battery of the iPhone 5s is 1,570mAh (oddly enough the label reads 1,560mAh). Granted we already knew this but seeing it in the flesh always helps.

The folks at iExpert who conducted the teardown also noted that apart from the change in battery and the addition of the fingerprint sensor for the iPhone 5s, “it doesn’t seem that Apple have drastically changed the internal layout.” Why mess with a good thing, right? They have also noted that Apple has finally address the switch failure on the power switches found on older iPhone models by adding an extra coating which should help hold them together to prevent failures like they did in older models.

iPhone 5s Shipping Times Are Slipping Quickly In Europe And Asia

iPhone 5s Shipping Times Are Slipping Quickly In Europe And AsiaApple’s iPhone products have always been a hot commodity and have always been quick to sell out, but it looks like the iPhone 5s has managed to sell out even faster and thanks to sightings on Apple’s European websites in France, Germany, and the UK, it seems that the shipping times of the iPhone 5s has slipped from 7-10 days, meaning that customers will find themselves waiting for a good week or two before they are able to get their hands on the device.

It seems that this slip applies to other countries such as Australia and and China, but over in Hong Kong and Singapore, customers will have to wait until October to get their hands on the device. It is likely that these delays are due to Apple not producing enough products to meet the demand from their customers. It was suggested a while back that Apple was not taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5s due to supply constraints which might have been the result of poor fingerprint sensor yields. In any case if you’re looking forward to getting an iPhone 5s, you best hurry up or you could be in for a pretty long wait.

iPhone 5s fingerprint scanner hacking gets crowdfunding campaign

The iPhone 5s handset’s Touch ID feature has drawn quite a bit of attention on both sides of the positive and negative spectrum, as well as speculation about how long it would take for someone to hack it. Such a mission has been given a new large incentive, with a crowdfunding campaign kicking off on […]

iPhone 5s unlocked hits UK Apple Store but won’t ship for 7-10 days

Apple‘s iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c have gone on sale in the UK through Apple’s online store, though supplies of the flagship 5s are already showing signs of constraint. Each sold unlocked, rather than with a carrier agreement (and subsidy), the iPhone 5s will ship in 7-10 days, Apple suggests, whereas the iPhone 5c will […]

Apple Can’t Rely On Design Forever

Apple’s executives are out in full force this week, talking about their company’s unique ability to deliver designs that people love. With Jonathan Ive at the design helm, Apple believes that it can continue to be the most successful device maker in the world simply because its “eye” is better than that from other users. […]

iPhone 5C Pre-orders Reportedly Fall Short Of Expectations In The UK

iPhone 5C Pre orders Reportedly Fall Short Of Expectations In The UK

Apple hasn’t said how many iPhone 5C units were pre-ordered on the first day. It has traditionally given out such information, this time it didn’t, which lead many to believe that perhaps the new “unapologetically plastic” iPhone didn’t see much consumer interest during the pre-order stage. On the other hand, an analyst estimates that the company may have received as many as 2.2 million pre-orders for the smartphone on the first day. The situation might be different across the pond, apparently pre-orders for the device have fallen short of expectations.

The U.K. is one of the initial 10 launch markets in which the new iPhones will be released tomorrow. The Guardian claims in a report that it has heard from sources within major U.K. carriers that pre-orders for iPhone 5C have been bleak. One source claims that the smartphone isn’t “setting the world on fire in terms of pre-orders,” and that people are waiting and seeing because never before has Apple released two new iPhones simultaneously. A source even went as far as to call iPhone 5C pre-orders “a big disappointment.” Apple hasn’t offered pre-orders for the iPhone 5S, the second smartphone it unveiled a week ago. Both new iPhones will be released tomorrow to the public.

    iPhone 5s, 5c, and iOS 7 review wrap-up

They’re the new smartphones we’ve been waiting all year for, and Apple’s iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c didn’t disappoint. Replacing the discontinued iPhone 5 and taking the mid-range and flagship spots in Apple’s line-up, each runs iOS 7, itself a considerable departure from versions of the smartphone software before it. With sales set to begin […]

Carriers And U.S. Retailers Reportedly Don’t Have Any Gold Or Silver iPhone 5S Inventory

Carriers And U.S. Retailers Reportedly Dont Have Any Gold Or Silver iPhone 5S Inventory

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of low iPhone 5S inventory. When Apple didn’t offer pre-orders for the smartphone, it was believed that was due to supply constraints. Only yesterday we heard a report citing various carrier sources saying that they had “grotesquely” low iPhone 5S inventory. A new report claims that all four carriers and the U.S. retail giants that are going to release the new iPhone tomorrow don’t have any inventory for iPhone 5S units in gold and silver color.

If this report is true, then it most certainly is a bummer. Apple has offered a gold color option for the very first time, if it isn’t available from majority of the points of sale across the U.S. on launch day, customers lining up for them probably won’t be too happy. 9to5mac claims that every carrier source and U.S. retail outlet it has heard from says that they only have the iPhone 5S in space grey. Though there’s a possibility that stock in the aforementioned colors might arrive late at night. This situation is said to be only at retail stores, customers will be able to order the iPhone 5S in any color from any carrier or retailer that they want online, but they’ll have to wait for their new iPhone to arrive in the mail.

iPhone 5s and 5c teardown confirms bigger batteries & power button tweak

Apple’s iPhone 5s and 5c went on sale in Australia a few hours ago, and new owners have wasted no time in cracking open the iOS 7 smartphones to see how they compare in a teardown to the existing iPhone 5.
