It would appear that the folks at accessory makers X-Doria have let the cat out of the bag a bit early with cases for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. While it’s possible that these cases were made with early models of these devices in-hand, it’s a bit more of a push for reality when […]
According to Cult of Mac, Nowhereelse.fr has purportedly managed to get possession of "the official illustrated guide to the iPhone 5S," and lo and behold, it seems like we might be seeing that fancy new home button later today
In a matter of hours, Apple will be taking the wraps off the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. One of the main features of the iPhone 5S would be its fingerprint sensor that is expected to be embedded in the home button, and leaked specifications and a user manual has pretty “confirmed” that the feature is a sure-thing, but just in case for those who are still a bit skeptical, The Wall Street Journal has come forward and stated that their sources have confirmed to them that the fingerprint sensor is a real thing and will make its debut with the iPhone 5S.
This isn’t all that surprising given that not too long ago an Apple patent revealed the fingerprint sensor’s plans and how it would be embedded in the home button, and how it could work together with NFC. Apple’s acquisition of AuthenTec, a company that specializes in biometric security, led to speculation that this particular form of security could debut in future iOS devices as well. As it stands it is expected that the home button of the iPhone 5S will sport a metallic ring around it which will be part of the sensor. In any case we won’t have to wait too long to see if the rumor pans out, so check back with us in a few hours for all the details!
iPhone 5S Fingerprint Sensor “Confirmed” By WSJ original content from Ubergizmo.
So it is almost a given that the iPhone 5S will sport a fingerprint scanner as multiple reports have since “confirmed” the feature, although knowing Apple, they probably will be giving it a different name and thanks to a leaked user manual obtained by Nowhereelse.fr, it seems that the fingerprint scanner could be known as “Touch ID”.
As you can see in the photo above, the manual does look pretty legit and could be the real thing and pictures the iPhone 5S with iOS 7 on it, although it should be noted that the manual seems to refer to the volume buttons as “Volume Buttons”, and the sleep/wake button as the “Sleep/Wake Button”, as opposed to “Volume Up/Down” and “On/Off Sleep/Wake” which it was previously known by, although this naming convention has appeared on iPod and iPad manuals before, so it’s possible Apple is trying to unify its naming scheme.
In any case we’re only a few hours away from Apple officially unveiling the device, so we guess we won’t have to wait much longer to see if the rumors pan out. In the meantime who’s looking forward to an iPhone with a fingerprint sensor embedded in it?

Better late than never, as they say, especially when it comes to leaked photos that reveal the upcoming iPhone 5S sporting a fingerprint sensor on its home button. This latest, but probably not yet the last, information comes just hours before the long-awaited Apple press conference that will finally verify or debunk many of the […]
Ahead of today’s big Apple event
iPhone 5S and 5C rumor round-up
Posted in: Today's ChiliTomorrow an Apple event will play host to the launch of what’s expected to be more than one new iPhone device as well as the formal public release of iOS 7. This mobile operating system update to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch device family was introduced earlier this year at Apple’s yearly developers conference […]
Tomorrow, Apple will introduce the world to two new iPhones. One will look almost exactly like the current iPhone, the other will look slightly different. Apple will sell millions of each type. And both will hardly matter at all compared to iOS 7.
Apple is going to take the stage tomorrow and unveil what it is expected to, two new iPhones. The iPhone 5S is going to be the successor to iPhone 5, Apple’s existing flagship smartphone. For the first time ever, the company is expected to launch a second iPhone alongside the flagship model. It is called the iPhone 5C, a budget smartphone similar to iPhone 5 and fashioned out of plastic to keep costs down. Cost will be a major factor on which the success and failure of this smartphone will depend upon, an analyst believes that the low cost might encourage customers to pay upfront instead of opting for a two year contract.
T-Mobile launches its Uncarrier initiative earlier this year, it doesn’t require customers to sign a two year contract now in order to receive a subsidy on a mobile device. Roger Entner, an analyst at Recon Analytics, believes that with iPhone 5C, Magenta is “in the right place at the right time with the right product.” Entner predicts that the budget iPhone could make a big difference for T-Mobile. However, since it has dropped contract plans, customers have the option of bringing their own device to the network. A factory unlocked iPhone 5 costs $649.99, the iPhone 5S might retain this price point. Most people opt for carrier contracts because they’d prefer a subsidy on this amount, so while T-Mobile’s contract free plans might be attractive for budget iPhone owners, people who opt for the flagship model just might stick with contracts.
