There have been rumors for about a month that the iPhone 5S home button is going to be ringed in silver. Clayton Morris even told This Week In Tech that he was "unequivocally" sure about the change, and that the home button would otherwise have the same concave design. Other leaked photos have supported the rumor, though as usual their authenticity is somewhat questionable.
Talk of new fingerprint scanning technology in the iPhone 5S may not be that far off the mark, with a new set of photos and some background from a biometric security expert lending weight to the chatter. The part photos were shared by Sonny Dickson, notorious for getting his hands on upstream Apple hardware and […]

Apple’s iPhones have typically sold well, and with every new release, it manages to break the record of its predecessor in the number of phones sold over the weekend. So with the upcoming iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, with two new models, will Apple sell even more units than before? One analyst seems to think that within a 10 day span, Apple could go on to sell a whopping 10 million iPhone units, meaning that the Cupertino company is expected to sell at least 1 million units on a daily basis! The 10 day period was given as the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are expected to see an initial release on the 20th of September, and with the 30th of September being when Apple’s financial quarter ends.
According to the analyst, Andy Hargreaves of Pacific Crest, “We expect Apple to launch two new iPhones at its Sept. 10 event, an iPhone 5S and an iPhone 5C, which we believe is essentially an iPhone 5 with a different case. We expect these refreshes, along with the potential for incremental distribution of the iPhone, to drive improved unit volume, stabilized gross margin and accelerating operating profit in the coming quarters.” At the end of the day, Hargreaves expects Apple to sell 31 million iPhone units this quarter, which would be an impressive figure. What do you guys think?

Come 10th of September, Apple is expected to unveil its new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. At the same time some believe that the 10th of September date could also be when Apple decides to release their latest iOS 7 to the masses. Now according to reports, word has it that Apple along with AT&T have begun to formally train their staff, such as front-desk sales people, technicians, and call-in support crews, on iOS 7.
According to the leaked screenshots obtained by Apple Insider, the training basically covers some of the new features that will be part of the iOS 7 update, along with iTunes Radio and the new Activation Lock. We guess this isn’t too surprising given that AT&T staff will need to be briefed on the software’s new features should customers ask them. Previous reports have suggested that AT&T along with other carriers have blacked out holidays for late September (around the 20th) as that is when the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are expected to go on sale, and we expect the carriers will need all hands on deck.
In any we expect more details about the new devices and iOS 7 to be shared on the 10th of September, so be sure to check back with us then for the details!

Apple has finally sent out the invites for a media event on September 10th, it will be unveiling the much awaited iPhones. A lot has been rumored about the company’s upcoming smartphones. The iPhone 5S will be one of two models that are expected to be unveiled. It probably won’t have any major design changes, it is only expected to come with major changes under the hood. LTE-Advanced support has been rumored a couple of times for iPhone 5S, an announcement today by Deutsche Telekom is seen as a hint by some towards this possibility.
A few months back it was said that Apple was having discussions with SK Telecom in South Korea. SK Telecom launched its LTE-A network earlier this year, Samsung’s “faster” Galaxy S4 became the first device to support it. The discussions were said to revolve around the possibility of iPhone 5S supporting the network. Deutsche Telekom launched its very own LTE-A network today and confirmed that Samsung will be offering a compatible version. The announcement mentioned that other manufacturers will offer compatible smartphones “at the end of September.” The iPhone 5S is expected to be released in September as well. This vague statement doesn’t actually say that the LTE-A capable iPhone 5S is going to be launched, but the rumor mill seems to be confirmed that its a hint. What do you think?

Rumors about the iPhone 5S having a fingerprint sensor have been circulating for a long time, there hasn’t been a confirmation as yet. Apple is going to announce the new iPhone on September 10th, so we’ll know for sure then. A couple of days ago a purported home button flex cable believed to belong to the iPhone 5S was leaked. It showed off a square surface that isn’t present on the same component for iPhone 5, this fueled speculation that the surface might have to do something with the fingerprint sensor. A similar flex cable has leaked today and it shows off the same surface as well.

We’re less than a week away from Apple’s September 10th media event where it is expected to launch two new iPhones. It has been rumored time and again that Apple is looking to capture more market share in China. The iPhone 5C, Apple’s rumored budget iPhone, is expected to be big in markets like India and China. According to a Chinese news outlet, the company will release both new iPhones in the country on September 20th, the day it is expected to release them in the U.S. and other major markets. Initially the release is reportedly going to be with its two current local partners, China Unicom and China Telecom.
Earlier today Apple sent out invites for a separate iPhone event to Chinese media outlets, the event takes place nine hours after the one in California. It is said that executives from both local carriers will be there as well, China Mobile executives are reportedly going to be present too. Apparently the iPhone launch on China Mobile has been delayed until November due to issues with 4G licenses, once the carrier receives its license only then it can begin selling the new TD-LTE compatible iPhones. The carrier’s CEO recently said that they were keen on selling the iPhone, but were facing commercial and technical issues.

According to Digitimes Research, which apparently is the research arm of the infamous trade publication Digitimes, Apple saw iPhone shipments decline by as many as 6.2 million units in Q2, 2013. The drop is compared with the total number of iPhones Apple shipped in the previous quarter. Total revenues generated from iPhone sales is also reportedly down to $18.2 billion in Q2, one reason for revenue decline is claimed to be promotion of old iPhone models at discounted prices through telecom carriers.
Even if there has been such a substantial decline in shipments, its not like the iPhone has lost its charm. This is actually a trend that is witnessed almost every year. In the months leading up to the launch of a new iPhone, we see demand for the existing model go down. For months Apple has been rumored to announce the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in September. The company finally confirmed yesterday that it will conduct the iPhone event on September 10th. The report also says that Apple can regain market share lost in China with the entry-level iPhone 5C, though the model’s future would count on its pricing. Analysts expect Apple to price iPhone 5C in a sweet spot for the Chinese market, where it is deemed to become a hit.
