Purported iPhone 5S Home Button Flex Cable Hints At Fingerprint Sensor

Purported iPhone 5S Home Button Flex Cable Hints At Fingerprint Sensor

Earlier today Apple finally sent out the invites for its September 10th iPhone event. One of the smartphones that the company will launch that day is the iPhone 5S, the successor to the current iPhone. It isn’t expected to tout any major design changes, though significant improvements are expected to be made under the hood. Previous rumors have consistently suggested that a fingerprint sensor might be on-board as well, some have even termed it as a cause for iPhone 5S supply constraints at launch. A new purported home button flex cable of the next generation iPhone has surfaced which hints at the possibility of such a sensor being present.

The flex cable seen above contains an identifier, 821-2092-01, which is said to be in line with Apple’s part numbering scheme. It carries a manufacturing date code which corresponds to mid-July. This purported iPhone 5S home button flex cable is said to be quite different from its counterpart on the iPhone 5. A new square surface is visible which might be related to the much rumored fingerprint sensor. This leaked flex cable doesn’t actually confirm the feature for iPhone 5S, but it adds weight to the laundry list of rumors that suggest the same thing. [Image via NoWhereElse]

Apple Sends Invites For September 10th iPhone Event

Apple Sends Invites For September 10th iPhone Event

The rumors about Apple’s iPhone event have finally been put to rest. Apple has sent out invites to the press for an event on September 10th. It has been consistently rumored over the last few weeks that the company will unveil its new iPhones on September 10th. Even if the event doesn’t bring new smartphones, which is next to impossible, we now know for sure when Apple is going to go up on stage to make the announcements everyone has been waiting for.

Apple is rumored to announce two new iPhones at this event. The iPhone 5S is one of those two smartphones. It is expected to have a faster processor, better camera and increased on-board storage option. A couple of new colors have been rumored as well, the much talked about gold/champagne and grey/graphite offering. The second smartphone is said to be the hotly anticipated budget iPhone, which is also known as the iPhone 5C. It is expected to have same internals as the iPhone 5, though it will skip glass and aluminium in favor of plastic. iPhone 5C is expected to be offered in as many as five different colors, the invite certainly seems to hint that September 10th will be a very colorful day. Both new iPhones are rumored to release on September 20th. The event takes place in San Francisco, it will begin at 10AM PT. Ubergizmo will have all of the updates for you come launch day. Apple iPhone September 10th event confirmed as invites land

Apple has confirmed it will hold an event on September 10th, sending out invites to press, with the iPhone 5S expected to take center stage alongside a cheaper iPhone and iOS 7. Speculation about the September 10th show has been high for some weeks now, with some rumors pegging not only new phones but a […]

Apple confirms September 10th iPhone event, and we'll be there live!

The next iPhone will be (presumably) unveiled on September 10th, as hinted at on the Apple-delivered invite that you see above. When the curtains pull back, it’ll be nearly a year to the day since the iPhone 5 was ushered into reality, and it’ll no doubt be a monumentally important day for the company. Particularly compared to the barrage of products Apple introduced in 2012 — iPad mini, iPhone 5, the MacBook Pro with Retina display, enhanced MacBook Air / iMac / Mac mini lines, a redesigned iPod nano, a revised iPad / iPod touch / Apple TV, ad OS X Mountain Lion — 2013 has been eerily quiet. Outside of a tweaked iPhone 5 for T-Mobile’s network, a Haswell-infused MacBook Air and a tease of the next-generation Mac Pro, we’ve been left with little more than hopes for newly-inspired versions of iOS and OS X.

That changes on the 10th of September, as at the very least, we’re expecting a next-gen iPhone to hit the stage. We’ll also be holding out hope for an oh-so-colorful lower-end iPhone 5C for emerging markets — markets where Android and even Windows Phone are the platforms of choice for communities making the move into the smartphone era. We wouldn’t put it past Apple to also revise its iPad line while it’s at it, and naturally, iOS 7 should be just about primed for release to the masses. As you’d expect, we’ll be on hand in Cupertino in order to liveblog every second of the action, and we’d invite you to cast your best guesses on what’s to come in comments below.

Apple’s September 10 iPhone Event Now Official As Invites Sent To Press

    apple-invite-iphone-sept-13

Apple has just sent out invites for a September 10 special event focusing on iPhone. The event is set to take place at 10 AM PT on the 10th at the Apple Campus in Cupertino, according to the invite, which will probably come as no surprise to those who watch the company and the rumors surrounding its impending product launches.

Apple is said to be unveiling multiple devices on the day, including a lower-cost iPhone “5C” as it’s been dubbed in the press, as well a more expensive iPhone 5 successor, possibly called the iPhone 5S. The 5S is supposed to have an improved camera, as well as improved internals and a new gold color option, while the iPhone 5C will reportedly feature a plastic backing with internals essentially unchanged from the iPhone 5. The invite features the phrase “This should brighten everyone’s day,” along with a graphic depiction of multi-colored dots, which suggest leaks of iPhone hardware with different color casings are on the money at least.

A lot of attention will be on what Apple reveals at this event, not only because it could mark the first time Apple announces more than one new iPhone model launching at or around the same time. There’s also iOS 7, Apple’s first major visual overhaul of its mobile OS, which is due to arrive likely around the same time as the iPhone ships. That’s probably going to happen on or before Sept. 20 or thereabouts, if early reports prove accurate.

Other highlights of the show will likely include more details about iTunes Radio, which should launch to US users at least along with iOS 7. But hardware will probably be the star of the show, as the world tunes in to see what Apple plans to do to increase the global reach of its smartphone devices, extending it to markets that previously might have felt the pricing pinch with Apple’s decidedly premium approach to mobile thus far.

We’ll be in attendance at the event live, bringing you all the latest on Apple’s brand new smartphone plans for 2013.

Apple Will Announce the Next iPhone(s) on Sept 10th (Update: HOLD THAT THOUGHT)

Apple Will Announce the Next iPhone(s) on Sept 10th (Update: HOLD THAT THOUGHT)

It’s official a big misunderstanding. The iPhone 5S and the budget iPhone 5C will will probably still, but not officially yet make their debut on Sept. 10th. The invites are aren’t mailed, the drapery is is not being frilled, the hip-but-not-too-hip soundtrack is actually probably is being prepped. Here we go again.
