AllThingsD: Apple’s next iPhone event slated for September 10th

September 10th, folks — that’s when Apple will unveil its next iPhone according to AllThingsD. We’ve received no official word yet, but recent leaks (and past form) suggest a refreshed iPhone 5 (possibly with a larger screen?) and possibly a low-cost model clad in plastic. It’s a safe bet that the release version of iOS 7 will also make an appearance at the event, which is shaping up to be an iPhone- and iOS-focused affair, according to ATD. Feeling a sense of déjà vu? As always, we’ll keep you informed when more concrete info makes its way to us.

T-Mobile’s CEO Attributes Surge Of Customers To Carrier’s New Services, Not iPhone

T Mobiles CEO Attributes Surge Of Customers To Carriers New Services, Not iPhone

According to recent statistics, it was suggested that T-Mobile managed to prevent at least 400,000 customers from leaving the carrier thanks in part to the company finally getting the iPhone 5 onto its network. However it seems that T-Mobile does not necessarily think that the iPhone was what helped the carrier with their recent surge of customers, and speaking in an interview with AllThingsD, T-Mobile’s CEO, John Legere, suggested that perhaps it was T-Mobile’s message and service offerings as one of the main reasons the company enjoyed a turnaround, one of them being T-Mobile’s “Un-carrier” program.

Of course we don’t expect that Apple’s iPhone singlehandedly managed to turn T-Mobile’s troubles away, although in the past we have heard of carriers losing their subscribers to their rivals simply because they were not able to offer their customers the phone they wanted, in this case it would be the iPhone. What do you guys think? Any T-Mobile subscribers out there agree that it was the carrier’s new services and plans that made you stay or sign up with them? Or was it because they started to offer the iPhone officially on their network that made you hop on board?

Apple Hiring For R&D Center In Taiwan To Aid iPhone Development [Rumor]

Apple Hiring For R&D Center In Taiwan To Aid iPhone Development [Rumor]According to a recent report by Chinese website VR-Zone, it has been suggested that Apple is looking to open a R&D center in Taiwan. The report is saying that the reason behind the R&D center’s opening is so that Apple will be able to come up with new ideas and features for its next-gen iPhone amongst other Apple-related products. While Taiwan might seem like an odd choice for some, it is because it would put Apple’s R&D team closer to the manufacturers and suppliers of some of the components that Apple uses in their products, with a good majority of it coming out from Asia.

The report states that Apple will be looking to hire new engineers and managers for its R&D center next month, and positions such as Hardware Development Engineers, Panel Process & Optics Engineers, Product Development Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Program Managers, Test Engineers, Software QA, Reliability Engineers, and more are expected to be filled. We guess it does make sense that Apple might want to be closer to their suppliers and component manufacturers, although somewhat ironic given that one of Apple’s partners, TSMC, has been rumored to open a chip fabrication plant in the US themselves.

T-Mobile Will Soon Offer A “Whole Array” Of Apple Products

T Mobile Will Soon Offer A Whole Array Of Apple ProductsT-Mobile was the last of the major carriers in the US to offer the iPhone on their network, which according to recent figures might have saved them 400,000 subscribers from defecting to other carriers which seems to be the case with carriers that do not carry the iPhone. At the moment T-Mobile is offering the iPhone 4, 4S, and the 5, which is pretty similar to the lineup by other carriers, but it looks like T-Mobile expects to carry other Apple products in the future as well thanks to a recent statement made by the carrier’s CEO, John Legere.

Speaking to the folks at AllThingsD, Legere was quoted as saying, “I think there’s a whole array of Apple products that we look forward to carrying […] We will expand what we offer from them.” While it is unclear as to what exactly he means by this, some have taken this to mean that T-Mobile could soon be offering up iPads as well, which is what carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint are doing at the moment, unless of course T-Mobile is hinting at some kind of future secret Apple product related to mobile (which we don’t think that’s the case). What do you guys think? Anyone interested in getting a 3G/4G iPad from T-Mobile?
