iGoogle & iPhone: Find Gas Prices

Over the weekend we decided to do something to keep us busy, and what we came up with was an iGoogle Gadget and iPhone Web App for checking your local gas prices (U.S. only). A full introduction to iGas is available, but here’s a quick overview for those that want to dive right in:
- A standalone website is available which has been optimized for the iPhone, but really works in any browser. Just point your browser to http://cybernetnews.com/igas to get started.
- iGoogle users can click here to add the gadget to their personalized homepage.
We have setup a dedicated page for iGas that outlines all of its features, and here is a screenshot to give you a taste of what the output looks like:

For a few months now there have been many rumors claiming that Apple is going to launch the iPhones a bit earlier than expected this year. Good news, perhaps, for the impatient: the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple is "hiring hundreds of new engineers and supply-chain managers" across Asia in an attempt to "speed up product development and launch a wider range of devices."
Driving while using your phone, whether it be to answer calls, reply text messages, or even check on Google Maps is not a bad idea as it essentially takes your attention off the road which could lead to an accident.
Sure there are handsfree kits out there, but apart from being able to answer or end calls, but given that our smartphones are more than capable of doing more than just that, sometimes those solutions just aren’t enough. That is where Apple comes in with their recently announced CarPlay. (more…)
