Samsung Will Reportedly Focus On Solar Power Tech For Smartphones Next Year

Samsung Will Reportedly Focus On Solar Power Tech For Smartphones Next Year

There are all sorts of theories circulating about the products major technology companies are expected to release next year. Samsung is most definitely one of those companies, and there has already been much talk of what we can expect from Samsung in 2014. Latest reports from Korean media suggest that the company might focus on solar power technology for smartphones next year. It is said that Samsung will focus more on the technology in 2014 while actual smartphones touting solar charging capability might be released in the future.

The reports claim that the reason why Samsung is going to invest into solar power tech for smartphones next year is because Apple has apparently found a way to incorporate the technology in its smartphones, which is why Samsung is ramping up its own efforts so as to not be left behind in the race. Now this might be a wild assumption on the media outlet’s part, because for now there haven’t been any rumors of a future iPhone that is capable of solar charging. The feature will no doubt be welcomed by iPhone users though, who unlike the users of Samsung’s smartphones, can’t simply take out the battery and replace it with a fully charged one should the need arise.

China Mobile Deal Could Allow Apple To Sell An Additional 12 Million iPhones In 2014

China Mobile Deal Could Allow Apple To Sell An Additional 12 Million iPhones In 2014China Mobile currently plays host to over 750 million subscribers in China, easily making them the largest carrier in the country, and potentially the world as well, which is why we’re not surprised that Apple is eager to enter into a deal with them in which it would see more iPhones being sold, but how many iPhones could be sold if the deal were to be a success? Well according to AlphaWise and Morgan Stanley Research, they claim that at the very least, the deal would see Apple sell 12 million units, if not more come 2014.

The 12 million units is thought to be a “base case” scenario, but on a more optimistic note, analyst Katy Huberty thinks that the deal with China Mobile would allow Apple to sell an additional 23 million iPhones next year, just in the Chinese market alone. On a more pessimistic note, Huberty notes that Apple could sell 5 million units. As it stands China Mobile does play host to a number of unlocked iPhones, although a deal with the carrier would undoubtedly entice more customers to come on board with the carrier, while allowing Apple to tap into China Mobile’s massive subscriber base. No word on when the deal could be finalized as last we heard, it was still in negotiation.

New Study Finds iOS Devices Still A Popular Choice In The Workplace

New Study Finds iOS Devices Still A Popular Choice In The WorkplaceWhen it comes to the enterprise market, is there one particular platform that might be favored over the other? A few years the debate wouldn’t even have been there as BlackBerry would have easily reigned supreme, but with the company taking several hits as of late, confidence in the company has since been shaken, leading businesses to consider alternatives. According to a new study by Microsoft Exchange services, Intermedia, it has been found that as far as its Microsoft Exchange-based network is concerned, iOS devices account for about 76% of all small- and medium-business activations since 2013.

This suggests around 190,000 iPhone and iPads in total, compared against the likes of Android devices from Samsung and other manufacturers which accounts for about 29,000 total activations. Interestingly enough despite the infographic above showing that Windows Phone accounts for a mere 1% of the study, it has been found that the amount has actually been doubled, but was still too little to account for much, but still a good sign nonetheless for the platform which is competing against BlackBerry at the moment. Will this trend change in the future? Perhaps, but for now it looks like iOS is in the lead. What do you guys think? Are you finding the prevalence of iOS devices in your workplace?
