Apple Staffer Shamed By Judge For Using iPhone In Court

Apple Staffer Shamed By Judge For Using iPhone In Court

Apple and Samsung are at it once again. The second patent infringement trial has commenced, with Apple claiming north of $2 billion in damages. Electronic devices are routinely banned in courtrooms across the U.S., but Judge Lucy Koh and the Northern District of California are more open to them than most. The court allows live coverage and even offers a free Wi-Fi network to spectators and reporters. Though Judge Koh was irked by an Apple staffer sitting in the front row, continuing to use her iPhone when everyone in the courtroom had been told to switch off their cellphones.

Possible iPhone 6 Production Tools And Schematics Spotted [Rumor]

Possible iPhone 6 Production Tools And Schematics Spotted [Rumor]

Is Apple working on two models of the iPhone that could be launched later towards the end of the year? That’s what the rumors are claiming, with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo backing them up. Now thanks to recently leaked photos posted on Weibo (China’s answer to Twitter), possible molds for the two iPhones might have been spotted, along with some schematics which allegedly depict the next-gen iPhone.

As you can see in the image above, the tools pictured look like they could be molds used to create a smartphone. Since smartphones are rectangular in design, there’s no way of knowing if these molds are used for the iPhone, for another smartphone, or if they might be fake. However they do appear to be of different sizes so perhaps they could be the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch sizes that have been rumored about. (more…)

Apple Might Consider NFC For Next Generation iPhone

Apple Might Consider NFC For Next Generation iPhone

Most of the mobile payment services are powered by NFC (Near Field Communication), this technology is commonly found in most mid-range and high-end smartphones. Apple has always kept the iPhone out of this loop. The company’s smartphone has never come with NFC built-in, which means that iPhone users can’t use these services. That might be about to change. An analyst predicts that in the upcoming iPhone Apple may finally opt for NFC just to facilitate mobile payments.

Leaked iPhone Cases Reveal New Button Cut Outs

Leaked iPhone Cases Reveal New Button Cut OutsWe have been hearing rumors that the next-gen iPhone could come in two-sizes: a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model, although the latter has been rumored to launch at a later date. We have also seen alleged leaked schematics that supposedly shows off the new phone’s design and dimension, and now thanks to a photo obtained by Nowhereelse.fr, phone cases have surfaced that are apparently based on said design.

Now the photos don’t really tell us how big the phone is, but it does show two different sizes, although they are said to be of the 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch variety, which contradicts earlier reports that the larger iPhone will be of the 5.5-inch size. Interestingly enough the cases also shows a couple of different cut outs for button placements.

As it stands the placement of the buttons on the iPhone have been pretty much standard from its early inception until today. However the photo shows additional cutouts in the top left corner of the phone, and the top right side profile of the phone. The case also shows the usual cutouts so it would suggest that not only will there be buttons moved about, but there could be new buttons added as well.

This seems to corroborate earlier claims by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the new iPhone could feature a moved power/sleep button. In any case the case manufacturer could simply be basing the design of the cases on rumors and leaks, as opposed to the actual dimensions since we doubt Apple would have shared with them the details at such an early date. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if the rumors are true, which sized iPhone are you planning on getting?

Analyst: iPhone 6 Sleep/Wake Button Could Be Relocated

Analyst: iPhone 6 Sleep/Wake Button Could Be RelocatedIt goes without saying that many people are on the lookout as to what Apple has in store for the rest of this year, and the iPhone 6 would certainly be on many peoples’ minds, this I am sure. Whispers on the street point to Apple rolling out a couple of iPhones later this year – one with a 4.7” display, and finally, another one that breaches the 5” mark with a 5.5” display. Do bear in mind that these are just rumors, but KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has already weighed in with his predictions. Kuo has had a decent track record in the past when it comes to Apple-related predictions, so hear what he has to saw about the sleep/wake button on the iPhone 6.

According to Kuo, apart from sporting different resolutions on both handsets, there will also be a change in the basic design, where the sleep/wake button will be changed from the top to the side on the iPhone 6. The reason behind this particular move is to make it easier for users to handle the handset – especially for those who tote it with a single hand. Apart from that, Kuo also noted that the bezel itself will be 10% to 20% narrower, while the iPhone 6 would measure anywhere between 6.5mm to 7.9mm thick, in comparison to the 7.6 mm case found on the iPhone 5s.
