iTunes 11.1 Released, iTunes Radio Is Now Live

iTunes 11.1 Released, iTunes Radio Is Now Live

Apple has just released the latest version of its desktop music software. iTunes 11.1 is now available for download, with it, the company’s new music streaming service has finally gone live for the public. iTunes Radio was first announced back at WWDC 2013 in June. Its quite similar to Pandora, some have even termed it as a strong rival for Pandora. Later today when iOS 7 is rolled out to the public, iTunes Radio will also go live on millions of iOS devices around the world.

iTunes Radio resides within iTunes 11.1. Users can choose from 250 pre-set stations, they also have the ability to create their own stations by punching in the name of an artist or song. Another new feature in the latest iTunes release is Genius Shuffle, it basically provides a way for users to listen to songs that “go great together.” Clicking Genius Shuffle every time initiates a fresh shuffle of the music so that users have something new to listen to. There’s also the ability to create Podcast Stations, that stations will automatically be refreshed when a podcast is updated with a new episode. Last, but definitely not the least, iTunes 11.1 brings support to sync content to iOS devices running iOS 7. iTunes 11.1 can be downloaded immediately through Apple’s website.

iTunes Radio now rolling out in iTunes 11.1 update, brings Spotify-like streaming to the desktop

iTunes Radio now rolling out in iTunes 111 update, brings Spotifylike streaming to the desktop

The release of iOS 7 is undoubtedly the big Apple news of the day, but there’s another new product rolling out with it as well: iTunes Radio. The Spotify-like feature, which was announced during Apple’s iPhone event last week, is part of the new iTunes 11.1 and allows users to create custom radio stations based on their personal music libraries or musical proclivities (e.g., genre, artists, track, etc.). Naturally, the service, like its competitors, is freemium, so you’ll have to pony up $25/year for iTunes Match in order to keep the hits coming sans advertisements. The update should be hitting all Macs running OS X 10.6.8 and up now, so while you’re frantically hitting refresh on that iOS update, you may as well check for this — or head to the source below for the download link.

iTunes Radio launches September 18th alongside the release of iOS 7

iTunes Radio to launch as part of larger iTunes refresh

We heard rumblings a few weeks ago that Apple’s streaming service was due to launch this month and now it seems those reports were true. The folks in Cupertino just announced that iTunes Radio will launch on September 18th in tandem with a redesigned iOS 7. The ability to create custom stations based on individual music tastes and personal iTunes libraries will hit Apple devices in a week’s time. Of course, you’ll need a $25-per-year iTunes Match subscription to keep listening to sessions ad-free, otherwise you’ll be prone to regular interruptions of that Yacht Rock station every few minutes.

Apple Sued By Breaking Bad Fan Over Season Pass ‘False Advertising’

Apple Sued By Breaking Bad Fan Over Season Pass False Advertising

The iTunes Store has become the go to destination for millions of customers around the world who wish to rent or purchase TV shows and movies. Apple allows customers to either purchase episodes of a particular TV show one at a time, or pay up front for a Season Pass which guarantees access to every episode of that show, thus providing the entire season at a better price. Noam Lazebnik of San Jose, California, a fan of AMC’s insanely popular Breaking Bad TV show, has filed a class action suit against Apple, alleging that the company engaged in false advertising.

There are 16 episodes in the final season of Breaking Bad. The season has been broken up in two parts of eight episodes, iTunes is treating the second part as an entirely different season. Thus customers who had paid for the Season Pass when Breaking Bad’s final season was announced will now have to pay $22.99 once again for the second half. The fact remains though, AMC hasn’t marketed the final season as two separate seasons. It only announced the last season of Breaking Bad which consists of 16 episodes. Lazebnik alleges that since Apple only provided eight episodes even though Season Pass guarantees access to “every episode in that season,” it has engaged in false advertising. When big companies like Apple get sued, we often see the plaintiff’s claim millions of dollars in damages. There’s something unique about this lawsuit, the plaintiff, Lazebnik, only seeks a refund for the amount he paid while being under the impression that it would entitle him to all episodes of Breaking Bad season five through an iTunes Season Pass.
