The Dash Smart Headphones Raises Over $3 Million On Kickstarter

The Dash Smart Headphones Raises Over $3 Million On KickstarterBack in February we reported on a Kickstarter project called the The Dash. The project was for a pair of “smart” headphones and the project initially had a somewhat modest goal of $260,000, but now according to the latest update, it seems that project has managed to break the $3 million barrier, which means that it has managed to raise an additional $2 million since we last checked.

What this means is that the headphones are definitely good to go and if you’re interested in placing your order for them, you will be able to do so by hitting up their website. The early bird orders are now gone so we expect that they can still be pre-ordered for around $299 a pop, although for those who purchase them now, you can only expect delivery around January. The iMacompanion Adds A USB Port To The Front Of iMacs

The iMacompanion Adds A USB Port To The Front Of iMacsIf there is one thing that Apple has done right with the iMac and its Thunderbolt Displays is that they have created very sleek and stylish looking products. How they managed this is by keeping the ports at the back, thus making the interface look very clean.

However there is a drawback which is that if you wanted to access the USB ports on an iMac, you’d have to reach around. Sometimes the monitor might even be placed in such a way that longer USB sticks might have a hard time fitting. Thankfully there’s an answer for that on Kickstarter. (more…)

Kickstarter Project Adds Stretch Goal Of Buying Oculus VR From Facebook

Kickstarter Project Adds Stretch Goal Of Buying Oculus VR From FacebookA few days ago, Facebook announced that they would be acquiring Oculus VR. This is actually pretty big news as it would no doubt help to advance virtual reality technology, not to mention give Oculus VR the resources to compete against the likes of Sony who have recently announced their own VR plans.

However not everyone was too thrilled about Facebook’s acquisition, such as Minecraft’s creator, Markus “Notch” Persson, who publicly announced the cancellation of the game for the Oculus Rift. Notch is not alone in his pleasure and developers Twinbeard has also expressed their disapproval of the acquisition. (more…)

PhoneJoy Android Gaming Controller Starts Shipping

Back at the end of 2012, I mentioned a company had created an interesting game controller for Android smartphones and small tablets called the PhoneJoy. The controller turned up on Kickstarter and raised about $70,000 within a few months to come to market. Now over a year after the controller hit Kickstarter, the PhoneJoy is finally shipping.

The controller is shipping to Kickstarter backers right now. If you didn’t back the Kickstarter campaign, but want your own PhoneJoy, the controller is available to pre-order for $79.90(USD) and will ship starting on April 8. It will later be available on Newegg, Amazon and other sites.

The controller is designed to slide apart and allow the phone to be placed between the two halves of the controller, and can work in either landscape or portrait modes. It works with most smartphones, regardless of size, and even can handle 7-inch tablets. It has dual analog sticks, a D-pad, and multiple buttons. When not in use, it folds down to be about the size of a typical wallet.

According to its maker, there are already hundreds of games which will work with the controller out of the box.

Morella Adds a Cup Holder to Your Umbrella

Picture this: you’re on your way to work with your briefcase in one hand and  a cup of coffee on the other. Suddenly, the skies go dark and it starts raining cats and dogs. You reach for your umbrella and then you realize you have to get rid of something because you aren’t exactly born with three hands. Sadly, it’s the coffee that ultimately has to go…

Solving this problem are Andrew Tan, Mike Elam, Jordan Schlipf and their Morella.

It’s essentially a cup holder that attaches to the handle of your umbrella. It’s got a gimbal mechanism to ensure that your cups always stay level and don’t spill. That way, you can carry your drink (and even an extra one!) while holding your umbrella with one hand and whatever else you need to carry in the other.

The cool part about it is that you can use it with umbrellas that are in use (as in the picture) or closed, so you can just stick your umbrella into the ground and transform it into a drink stand.

Morella is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of £10 (~$16 USD) will get you both a single cup and a double cup Morella.

Remember: With Morella, you’ll be able to do more-ella with your umbrella! (Was it that bad? Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)
