Today Motorola has made clear that the Verizon version of the Moto X smartphone will be first to work with Android 4.4 KitKat. This update to the newest version of the Android mobile operating system will likely spread to the rest of the Moto X iterations in the very near future, but rests here with […]
Amazon has already started to ship its most recent generation of Kindle Fire tablets recently, so the question that begs to be asked is this – what would happen to the original Kindle Fire? Does it still have any kind of mileage left underneath the hood in order to be worth using even until now since its launch in 2011? Apparently so, as this 7” tablet with a 1,024 x 600 resolution IPS display has been hacked to be able to run on an unofficial release of Android 4.4 KitKat, the most recent mobile operating system version from Google. Do bear in mind that this 2011 tablet chugs along with just 512MB RAM and 8GB of internal memory, and if you are curious in picking one up for yourself, a used or pre-loved model will cost you under a Benjamin easily if you search for it in the correct places.
Originally shipped with Amazon’s Fire OS, which in turn happens to be based on Android, the Kindle Fire was hacked to run on the likes of CyanogenMod and different Android ROMs since it was launched. Now, it is even capable of running the unofficial Android 4.4 KitKat ROM on it, now how about that? It is more or less a customized version of CM11 Alpha, except that it has been specially compiled so that it will be able to run on Amazon’s tablet. Not all is smooth sailing though, so do expect a number of graphical glitches, while the stock web browser has some rather questionable performance. Treat it as a work in progress, and you will be happy.

The Huawei Ascend P6, a smartphone which was first released to the masses sometime in the middle of this year, did arrive with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in tow back then. However, all was not all peaches and cream with the Huawei Ascend P6 after its launch. Since the handset came in an extremely slim form factor, the older generation quad-core processor that ran under the hood found it difficult to keep the temperature down. Hopefully the folks over at Huawei have managed to do something about that prickly situation by now, but at least there is some good news for Ascend P6 owners. The handset has just received official confirmation that it will be on the receiving end of the Android 4.4 KitKat update.
Apparently, folks over in China have used Baidu as the platform to disseminate such information, announcing that this extremely slim smartphone will receive Android 4.4 KitKat later next January. One thing is for sure, the Huawei Ascend P6 will not be the only smartphone that will receive this mobile operating system update, and it will not be the last, either. If you are a proud owner of the Huawei Ascend P6, are you looking forward to this bit of news being fulfilled to the letter?

It was just two days back when we brought you word that Android 4.4 KitKat has rolled out for the Nexus 7 tablet, although it is meant for the Wi-Fi only model. Apparently, the manual update packages for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 were said to have been released yesterday too, with the promise of Android 4.4 KitKat for the Nexus 4 and the Wi-Fi + 3G/LTE enabled model of the Nexus 7 would arrive in due time. There has been no Android 4.4 KitKat OTA update in sight so far, but Google has already rolled out the factory images of Android 4.4 KitKat for the respective devices.
Of course, this would translate to your willingness in doing away with all the data on your tablet and start right from the beginning. The factory images which are made available are meant for the Nexus 4, 2012 Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi + 3G), and 2013 Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi + LTE). The Nexus 10 still lacks a factory image, but considering how the OTA is on its way for that particular tablet, it would not be too much of a hassle to wait a little bit longer. Do bear in mind that should one flash one’s device back to stock, there is more margin for error as Murphy waits to strike. A manual update would have less hassle to work with.

There’s little argument over where Motorola is aiming with the Moto G. Having already made a mark in the United States with the Moto X in its customizable, hands-free mode-toting, multi-carrier subsidized form, this generation’s hero phone for Motorola goes international with a taste the budget-friendly. This device works with a 4.5-inch LCD display at […]
For those who have been chomping at the bit for the latest Android KitKat update, the wait is over — if you’re running a Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 tablet, that is. The Android 4.4 update is rolling out to these tablets today, and a promise in place that the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 […]
The long wait is over – for those of you out there who happen to own either the Nexus 7 or the Nexus 10 (or both!), you will be on the receiving end of the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system today. This particular update will arrive in the form of Over The Air (OTA), but bear in mind that only those who happen to own the Wi-Fi only 7-inch tablets will be able to gain from this OTA update. Of course, it remains to be seen just when those who own tablets that have mobile data capability will be on the receiving end of their corresponding update, but we sure as heck hope that sooner is better rather than later. If you are already rocking to Android 4.4 KitKat on your Nexus 7 with Wi-Fi capability, how are you enjoying the experience so far? Is everything up to your expectations, or do you think that a whole lot more could be done to enhance the entire update? [Google Plus Page]
