Microsoft investors reportedly push board to consider Ford CEO as possible Ballmer replacement

The hunt for a replacement to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is on, and with it have come many possible candidates, including Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, as we noted earlier this month. According to sources who spoke with Reuters, some of Microsoft’s investors are leaning a different direction, saying they want a “turnaround expert” while citing […]

Tizen 3.0 UI allegedly spotted running on a Galaxy S 4

Tizen 30 UI allegedly spotted on a Galaxy S 4

Tizen, the progeny of MeeGo, LiMo and Bada, hasn’t exactly set the world on fire. But even if manufacturers and consumers aren’t clamoring for yet another smartphone platform, that doesn’t mean Samsung and Intel are simply going to let the OS wither and die. In fact, version 3.0 of the UI is well on its way, and it appears to be up and running Galaxy S 4 hardware. The new look is flatter, squarer and much more inline with current design trends. Gone are the slightly cartoonish and round elements that have now been adopted by Mozilla for Firefox OS. The bright and varied color palate remains, however, giving Tizen a much more whimsical appearance than Android or Windows Phone. Though the images at the source link are hardly a thorough tour of the new UI, you can see that there are detailed lockscreen alerts and you can get a quick glance at the music player. Now it’s just a waiting game to see if Samsung will actually release a high-end Tizen phone based on the S 4 to consumers… but we’re not exactly holding our breath.

Nokia Lumia 1520 images leak again

It seems like every time I look around some new images of the unannounced Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet are turning up. This time around, the leaked images are of higher quality than the images we saw back in late August. So far, there has been no official confirmation of any features of the device but […]

We’re just a day or so away from the much-awaited Apple press event but we could still use a bit more leaked details about the rumored iPhone 5S. Xbox One’s still-in-beta dashboard, multitasking previewed in video leak

In a move that reminds us of the kid that leaked the first in the wild shots of the Xbox 360, YouTuber Jackson Carter has posted a two minute video claiming to show a working Xbox One. After flashing the console itself and a controller as proof, he focuses mostly on the UI, displaying its Windows 8-style tile layout. You can check out our detailed impressions of the console’s UI right here, but this will be the first opportunity most have had to see the system’s default menu — multitasking, Ryse beta, Kinect 2.0 and all — in motion. There’s no info on exactly where this console came from, but our friendly narrator mentions he can’t access other beta games just yet. While conspiracy theorists debate if this legitimate and/or intentional, everyone else can just take a peek at it embedded after the break.

Update: The original video has been pulled from YouTube, we’ve embedded a working version after the break.

Following shortly after iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C advertisements made a brief appearance on China Telecom’s Weibo account, the folks over at The Wall Street Journal have revealed that Apple plans to send iPhone 5C models to China Mobile. The iPhone 5S and 5C: rumor round-up

iPhone 5S and 5C the rumor roundup

What exactly is happening with Apple’s next iPhone? Will it be substantially cheaper? Come in gold? Or even sport a fingerprint scanner? And will it be enough to keep Apple on top, now that it’s up against two software-hardware chimeras? The company’s making plans for next week and we’re likely to see not one, but two new iPhones revealed. Alongside a predictably retuned iPhone 5 (the 5S?), we might see the long-awaited appearance of a new, cheaper model, rumored to arrive under the 5C moniker.

Tim Cook has yet to make his mark on the company product-wise — regardless of Apple’s continued financial health. Steve Jobs was apparently well-involved in the development of the iPhone 5, even if it launched on Cook’s watch, so a freshly designed phone or two could finally be his launch: a chance to silence critics and show them where he’s taking Apple.

Verizon's blue HTC One trickling out to Best Buy stores starting today

See that? It’s an HTC One, programmed for use on Verizon’s airwaves, and it’s blue. Moreover, it’s at Best Buy, and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to pick one up yourself as early as tonight. If you’ll recall, we had heard that Sprint was aiming to ship the aforesaid device on September 10th, but according to our tipster, these are hitting backrooms as we speak. Full retail is pegged at $699.99, but you can bet that a variety of contractual options will be available, too.

Update: Another stellar tipster has provided us with a photo of the phone’s front, which you’ll find after the break. Additionally, we’re told that the back of the blue HTC One is one full piece of metal, with painted accent stripes. Maybe you’ll head to a Verizon store this weekend and check it out for yourself.
