iPhone 5S Gold and Graphite shells appear in video with iPhone 5 structure comparison

Leaks and rumors regarding the gold and graphite iPhone 5S have been numerous at this point, with parts showing up in a parts replacement store in Japan and the graphite variety leaking in full earlier this week, for example. Now the gold and graphite casings have made their way into a video, their structure being […]

In what has proven to be a bit of a head-scratcher, a screenshot has surfaced by way of the T-Mobile Moto X device page showing availability as only through Google Play. This seems to contradict information that had been stated previously in a press release that the handset would be available to the carrier’s customers […]

Samsung Galaxy Gear control app screens confirm NFC, other features

Samsung Gear Manager screens leak, show app management and more

Samsung already said that its Galaxy Gear smartwatch would launch on September 4th, but that doesn’t mean the leaks are over. Far from it — @evleaks just posted screenshots of Gear Manager, the smartphone app that will oversee Samsung’s wristwear. The images mostly corroborate details from past rumors, such as the SM-V700 model number, app support and NFC pairing. There are a couple of surprises, however. One shot mentions a “find my watch” tool, and another shows an abstracted representation of the Galaxy Gear itself — don’t read too much into that last picture, though. While we’d rather see the real smartwatch, this new leak may tide us over until the official Galaxy Gear unveiling next week.

New ASUS PadFone Infinity spied on camera, may arrive in September (updated)

New ASUS PadFone Infinity spied on camera, may arrive in September

There have been hints that ASUS’ new PadFone Infinity could represent a little more than a speed boost; if newly leaked details obtained by ePrice are authentic, we may have proof. Photos included with the leak show an exterior design that’s virtually identical to that of the current PadFone, save for the option of a white model. As previously rumored, the new smartphone would fit into the existing Infinity’s tablet base. ASUS could make up for this conservative design with a speedy release, however. The ePrice sources claim that the new PadFone Infinity should launch in Taiwan during the third week of September, which would leave just a short wait for ASUS’ fourth-generation hybrid.

Update: We’ve also noticed that there could be a microSD slot, next to the SIM tray. If so, that would answer the complaints of more than a few existing PadFone Infinity owners.

Photo hints that lower-cost Moto X could use swappable back panels

Photo hints lowcost Moto X may rely on swappable back shells, dual SIMs

Motorola promised that it was making a cheaper variant of the Moto X for developing markets, and we may have received our first glimpse of it today. A Sina Weibo user claims to have a photo of interchangeable back panels for the budget smartphone, suggesting that its buyers wouldn’t have to use tools like Moto Maker to get lively colors. There’s nothing shown of the device itself, but the poster does mention dual SIM support. If the parts are real, though, it could just be a matter of time before leaks reveal the rest of Motorola’s lower-cost handset.

HTC’s mid-range market strategy in China continues as 4.3-inch 301e gets certified

Image

Lately, China’s TENAA telephone certification center has been an even bigger tattletale than the FCC, and it just leaked another unannounced handset: the HTC 301e. While likely not coming to the US, the dual-SIM device is another cog in CEO Peter Chou’s plan to grow its mid-range smartphone stable in China. It also has some One design touches, like the top speaker grill and two button design. Otherwise, it’s scraping the bottom of the mid-range, with a 4.3-inch 480 x 800 screen, 1GHz dual-core CPUs, 512MB RAM, WCDMA 3G, 8GB of storage expandable to 64GB via microSD and a 5-megapixel camera. While that won’t set anyone’s hair on fire, it does show that HTC is serious about more than just flagships in China.

BlackBerry OS 10.2.0.1443 Leaked For Q10 And Z10 Devices

BlackBerry OS 10.2.0.1443 Leaked For Q10 And Z10 DevicesAre you apprehensive about leaks of operating system versions for mobile devices? Of course, when it comes from an unreliable source, it could prove to be rather touch and go – sometimes you get a hit, sometimes it is a miss and you will need to revert to the previous version of the operating system itself. Well, here we are with a new leak of the BlackBerry 10 operating system from the Crackberry forums for both the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10. This leaked version would be OS 10.2.0.1443, and if we were to be more specific, it will play nice with the BlackBerry Q10 and the BlackBerry Z10 models STL100-2/3/4 – this means the STL100-1 model is out of the picture.

As usual, the standard precautionary measures need to be taken. You would do well to perform a full backup of your device before going ahead with the leaked operating system installation, and it is always good to know just what you are getting into. For those of you who have already installed this leaked update, how has your experience been so far, and do you have any complaints or bouquets to share with the rest of us plebeians? Hopefully the entire installation process went on as smoothly as possible.
