Samsung will launch its Galaxy Gear smartwatch at IFA 2013 as previously rumored, it’s reported, with the timepiece expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Note 3. Believed to be model number SM-V700, the Samsung Galaxy Gear is a lock-in for the Berlin show held in September, SamMobile‘s sources report, though exact specifications, design, and capabilities […]
The Moto X: a phone that is truly greater than the sum of its parts (at least according to us). The missing ingredient so far? A release date. Well, according to the most recent leak, the day of days will be August 29th… at least for Verizon customers. A Best Buy inventory screen sent in to Android Central indicates that Motorola’s customizable flagship will hit stock rooms on the 15th and officially go on sale the 29th. That’s a slight change from last week, when a screenshot from the same big box retailer pegged the release date as August 23rd. That’s a little over a week after the new slate of Droid devices land, giving them a slight head start on capturing the hearts and minds of moto fans. Of course, if you’re really keen designing your own Moto X, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. There’s still no word on when Big Red’s version will be available through Moto Maker.
Update: Seems like the Droid Ultra, Maxx and Mini may not be shipping until August 27th now. What’s not clear just yet is if the change in shipping date is because of a delay or a sell out of initial inventory. We’ve reached out to Verizon for clarification.
Update 2: We heard back from a Verizon rep, who had this to say about the rumored delays: “The 20th is still happening, you’ll still find the Ultra and Maxx in stores on that day. Those who pre-ordered prior the date changing, will have their device shipped by the original date. And, for customers pre-ordering now, the date on the website is when the phones will ship.”

Another Samsung flip-phone leaks out: the Hennessy, with dual 480 x 320 displays
Posted in: Today's ChiliIn the realm of Samsung flip-phone rumors, color us confused. Earlier, we saw a manual on Samsung’s site for a Galaxy Folder (SHF-E400K), with dual 800 x 480 displays, a dual-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, 2GB of RAM, gold trim and LTE support. Now, we’re seeing a so-called Samsung Hennessy (SCH-W789), another dual-screen clamshell model with 320 x 480 resolution on both of its 3.27-inch screens, a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU, 5-megapixel camera, dual-sim support and, yes, a “Luxury Gold” color trim option. The latter model has leaked multiple times from Asian rumor sites, while the presence of a manual and photos for the Folder seem to all but confirm that model. We remain skeptical, though, as the sources may have mixed up the similar-looking models, and in any case they may never arrive in the US. If they’re real, though, we’ve obviously underestimated the size of the cognac-and-cigar throwback market.

We’ve been hearing a lot about BlackBerry’s rumored A10, which has recently been dubbed the Z30 after getting an unofficial name change. We’ve seen photos of the new device, but a hands-on video of the device has been leaked, and it marks the latest time that we’re seeing the Z30 in all its glory inside […]
Rumors have been popping up recently about what to expect in the next-generation Kindle Fire tablet series, and full specs for the next-gen entry-level Kindle Fire have been leaked, but it’s nothing too special, other than that the new entry-level Kindle Fire will have the same internal guts as the current entry-level Kindle Fire HD. […]
It is no secret that Blackberry has fallen from its once high-and-mighty position, suffering financially in the midst of that and making a rather gallant effort to turn itself around. Although the company poured a lot of effort into BlackBerry 10 and the related handsets, it is still faltering, and as a result is open […]
HTC One X+ gains BlinkFeed and Zoe Share in unofficial Android 4.2.2 leak (update)
Posted in: Today's ChiliNo, the global One X+ isn’t getting an update to Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5 — not yet, anyway. A round of recent reports have incorrectly stated that an OTA update for the global One X+ has begun rolling out to users’ handsets. The purported update, which brings with it a host of HTC’s newest features like Zoe Share and BlinkFeed, is in fact a leaked RUU and not an official software release, as HTC confirmed to us. That’s not to say a true update isn’t on the way — it is — but the company’s not committing to a specific timeframe for that just yet. One X+ owners, you’ll have to hold onto hope just a little bit longer.
Update: It appears HTC’s Taiwanese site may have posted that update for users after all. A link on the company’s site clearly outlines the Android 4.2.2 / Sense 5 update as available for users. We’ve reached out to HTC once again for clarification and will update this post accordingly.
Update 2: HTC has confirmed that only the Taiwanese version of the One X+ is currently receiving the update. Still no word as to when that OTA will hit the global model, but it sure can’t be far off now.

Apple‘s attempts to extricate itself from Samsung reliance for components have ironically seen the Cupertino firm increase orders for some parts, new research suggests. Samsung supplied more full-sized iPad panels for Apple than LG Display did in two out of the three months of Q2 2013, NPD DisplaySearch says, and in fact has seen a […]
Sure, LG’s set to unveil the G2 tomorrow, but the firm’s handset has made a surprise appearance on the eve of its official coming out party. @evleaks has snagged a press shot of a device that matches the reported G2 we’ve seen in covert photos and video, a leaked manual and promotional shots. The image doesn’t bring any revelations, but it does give us an even clearer view of the hardware we’ll see in just a few hours. Soon enough, we’ll get to know the smartphone better than its case.
Update: @evleaks has dished out another picture of the phone, giving us an unobstructed view of its face. Head past the break for the photo.
