LG announced the release of a new Smart Bulb in the coming days in Korea that interacts with you through your iOS or Android device. This new LED light bulb comes with some pretty nifty features which are already leaving us wanting in the US.
This simple but handy features include blinking the light when you have a call on your device, and having a light slowly brighten as a silent alarm from your mobile device. The LG Smart Bulb can also be set to turn on and off for periods of time during the day while you are away on vacation to make house look as if someone is home. Another cool feature allows your mobile OS to set mood lighting based on the music that it’s playing. So having some really intense music will generate a bright light, while more subdued music will generate low light.
The bulb will be for sale in Korea in the coming days for around $32 which sounds like a bargain to us considering it is supposed to last up to just over 18,000 hours.

LED bulbs are a great way to save some power and be more green since they consume much less electricity than standard bulbs. They can also do more than conventional bulbs. Tabu Design makes the cool Lumen Bluetooth LED bulb that we reviewed just a few days ago. One of the issues that might pop up for some with that bulb is that it’s a bit large for smaller lamps.
Tabu has launched its Kickstarter project for a smaller version of that bulb called the LuMini. This bulb is specifically designed to fit completely inside of smaller lamps. Part of how it works its magic is by using a ceramic cooling ring instead of metal fins.
Like the original, this bulb can be controlled via Bluetooth 4.0 using a smartphone app. It has RGB LEDs inside, and can make just about any color light you want. It’s also about half the price of the Lumen.
Unlike the Lumen, the LuMini doesn’t have a dedicated white LED inside. You can get white light from it, but it’s not as bright or pure as the original. The company has stretch goals that will produce other bulb sizes if certain milestones are met. A pledge of $30(USD) or more will get you a bulb in May 2014.
LED lighting manufacturer Cree has outed its latest bulb, a 100W-equivalent that the company claims is the first to look just like a traditional incandescent bulb. Promising 1600 lumens of … Continue reading

Looking for something to decorate your game room wall with? How about an Xbox 360 controller that’s bigger than your head?
That’s exactly what the guys at Pop Out Art have created. This gigantic version of the Xbox 360 controller measures about 24″ (w) x 17″ (h) x 6″ (d).
Each one is backlit with remote-controlled LEDs so you can us it as an accent light too. They’re made from heavy-gauge plastic using vacuuforming, with the buttons assembled separately. Each piece is hand-painted to give it a great, finished look.
If you’re interested in hanging one on your wall, head on over to Kickstarter and pledge before March 12, 2014. A pledge of at least $144 will get you in on the giant controller action.
Just don’t expect to play any actual games with this thing.
