LG G3 Trademark Filed
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe LG G3 has been rumored about for a while now. The handset is expected to be the successor of the LG G2, LG’s flagship device for 2013, although given when the LG G2 was launched, we don’t expect to hear about the LG G3 anytime soon. That being said, is the LG G3 even being worked on as we speak? Is LG even planning the device? Logically yes, given the LG G2’s success, and if you wanted further proof that the LG G3 was in the works, a recent trademark filing for the G3 moniker has surfaced.
Of course considering that in the past we have seen our fair share of fake trademarks being filed, there is always the off-chance that this particular trademark could be a fake as well, so try not to get your hopes up just yet. What we do know is that as far as LG handsets are concerned, the company has the LG G Pro 2 which will most likely be announced soon ahead of MWC 2014. As to when LG might announce the LG G3? Well that remains to be seen, but presumably it will be done after the G Pro 2 has been launched to avoid cannibalization of sales. In the meantime what do you guys think? Is the LG G3 a done deal?

Do you feel as though it is compulsory these days for companies to roll out a “mini” version of a current device? For instance, the folks over at Samsung has the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, while HTC has their HTC One Mini, with Sony jumping aboard the bandwagon with their Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. This leads to the question – what about LG? I guess LG is not too far away from releasing a “mini” model from their collection of smartphones, with whispers of the LG G2 Mini making its rounds since last December.

LG first showed off its curved OLED TV, model 55EA9800, back at CES 2013. It took a lot of time for this 55 inch curved OLED TV to make it Stateside after being showcased at the biggest electronics show of the year. It finally arrived in July last year, costing well over $14,999. The Korean manufacturer has now announced that it is slashing the price in half, and that the 55EA9800 curved OLED TV will now sell for under $7,000.

The LG G Pro 2 will be LG’s successor to the original G Pro which was launched in 2013. The G Pro 2 is expected to be announced ahead of MWC 2014, assuming the rumors are to be believed. Now in terms of specs, what we have heard so far are only rumors, although LG has since confirmed several features, such as how the handset would feature OIS Plus technology for its camera. Well now thanks to recently leaked AnTuTu benchmarks, it looks like there are additional specifications of the LG G Pro 2 that have been “confirmed”, although we do suggest you maintain a degree of skepticism for now, at least until the official announcement.
Now according to the benchmark results, it seems that the LG G Pro 2 will feature a Full HD display. As to the size of the display, that remains unknown although the rumors peg it at 5.9-inch or possibly even a 6-inch display. It will also pack 3GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 chipset clocked at 2.26GHz, 32GB of onboard storage, and it looks like the handset will come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled. It should be noted that benchmark results can be faked, although we’re not sure who would want to go to all that trouble, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but if its rumored 13th February announcement is anything to go by, check back with us in the next couple of days for more updates.

We’re not sure how many of you guys actually remember this, but back in the day, there were these toys/accessories that kids would wear. It was a strap that when you slapped onto your wrist, it would immediately curl up and form a bracelet. It was a pretty fun thing to do back then although we’re not sure if kids these days might appreciate it. That being said, perhaps LG might be interested in bringing it back to the modern day, thanks to a recent patent which revealed a possible plan for LG’s smartwatch.
Typically smartwatches look like normal watches but have a little bit more functionality to it apart from the ability to only tell the time. Chances are some of them might come with a touchscreen display as well. However in this LG patent, it describes a smartwatch that can wrap itself around your wrist, looking more like a bracelet than a watch (as pictured above). Alternatively it seems that this smartwatch can be fully extended which in turn can be used as a stylus as well, so it’s a win-win situation! Of course there’s no telling if LG will ever embrace this concept but what we do know is that LG has a smartwatch in the works. How it looks like and what functions it has remains unknown, but it will definitely be worth keeping an eye on. In the meantime what do you guys make of this concept?

Somehow, being straight and boxy does not seem to be the “in” thing when it comes to product design most of the time these days, and throwing in some curves would definitely go some way in making the device more appealing to the masses. We are pleased to report that the LG G Flex is finally available to pick up from AT&T as well as T-Mobile. If you happen to be a subscriber with AT&T, you will be able to pick one up for $299.99 as it will come with a new two-year contract, or should you choose not to pick it up on contract, then you can always fork out $694.99 right from the get go.
