The other day Sprint’s registration page for the LG G Flex came online and scheduled the phone for a release on the 7th of February. Well the good news is that if you’d much prefer T-Mobile than Sprint, you might be interested to learn that T-Mobile has put up the registration page for their LG G Flex as well. Do note that this is a registration page for the LG G Flex and not a pre-order page, meaning that you will not have to put down any money at the moment, but simply put in your details in which T-Mobile will then be able to notify you when the phone is made available, which we can only assume won’t be too far behind Sprint’s release. Pricing has not been mentioned ether but presumably it can be paid off via T-Mobile’s Uncarrier program.
In any case as far as specs are concerned, T-Mobile’s version of the LG G Flex will remain the same as all other versions of the phone, although possibly with different radios in order to make it compatible with the carrier’s network. Apart from that customers can look forward to a 6” curved OLED 720p HD display, a 13MP rear-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, and it will be powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 32GB of onboard storage, a 3,500mAh battery, and will come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean preinstalled. So, anyone planning on ordering the device when it is released?

It has been a couple of months now since Google formally unveiled Android 4.4 KitKat, in fact that OS has been followed up by two incremental updates that have pushed the version number up to Android 4.4.2. Still there are quite a few OEMs out there that have yet to reveal their roadmaps for the update, LG happens to be one of those manufacturers. Rumor has it that a handful of LG smartphones are going to jump straight to Android 4.4 KitKat, with several of them skipping Android 4.2 and Android 4.3 in the process.
This has not yet been confirmed officially by LG, so the rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. The smartphones expected to skip older Android firmware versions include LG Optimus F3, Optimus F6, Optimus F7, Optimus L9 II, Optimus Vu II, Vu III, G Pro Lite and even the self-healing LG G Flex. The rumor doesn’t mention exactly when the Android 4.4 KitKat update will be released for these devices, its unlikely that all of them will receive chocolatey goodness at the very same time. Moreover, it has also been claimed that the LG Optimus 4X HD will be staying put at Android 4.1.2. Presumably the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet will also be jumping ahead to KitKat, the Google Play Edition of this tablet already comes with Android 4.4 preinstalled.

Consumer electronics giant LG did reveal at the recently concluded CES 2014 a new kind of TV that will certainly blow your minds away – I am referring to the flexible OLED TV here, of course. LG claims that this is the first of its kind in the world, where the TV will not only arrive as a curved device, but you, the viewer, are able to control the angle of the curvature itself in order to enjoy the ultimate viewing experience where it would not have been thought of to be possible just a couple of decades ago.
Hyun-hwoi Ha President and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company, shared, “LG’s Flexible OLED TV is a product that has to be seen to be believed because it defies description. What curved is to flat, flexible is to curved. LG continues to lead the evolution of televisions into the next generation.”
Basically, with this flexible OLED TV, you will be able to use the included TV remote to alter the curvature of the display in order to suit your viewing experience. As for the range of the curvature itself, it is determined by taking into account key factors which will affect the viewing experience, where among them include screen size as well as viewing distance.
Not only that, you might think that this TV, being a prototype to begin with, is going to be small just for testing purposes. I thought so, and I was sorely mistaken, since this bad boy happens to be a 77″ flexible OLED TV, where it has been subjected to tens of thousands of hours of tests in order to ensure the reliability and durability of its unique display. Talk about a “grand slam” of firsts when it comes to the OLED TV universe – being flat, curved and now, flexible. Needless to say, pricing details and availability have yet to be divulged, but it sure as heck ain’t gonna come cheap!

LG G3 Rumored May 17th Release
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe LG G2 was LG’s flagship smartphone for 2013 and given that the handset was relatively well-received, we can only assume that LG has a successor planned. Given that the phone was released in September 2013, we expect that LG will only release it in September 2014, but as it turns out, May 17th is a possible date. This is according to reports from the Korean media who has outed a very specific release date of May 17th. Assuming this is true, there is a good chance that LG might announce the device during MWC 2014, or maybe a little later closer to its rumored May 17th date.
As far as the specs are concerned, it looks like the LG G3 will compete with the Galaxy S5 in terms of display and pack a 2,560×1,440 resolution. As far as display size is concerned, it could feature a 5.5” display which would make its pixel density pretty high. As for its camera, it could feature a 16MP sensor with optical image stabilization, and finally if the rumors are to be believed, the LG G3 might be powered by LG’s own Odin processor, versus turning to Qualcomm. For those wondering why LG is cutting its annual release cycle short, it seems that LG might be worried that taking an entire year would leave too much room for Samsung to gain on them.
In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Does the LG G3 sound like a phone you might be more interested in than the Samsung Galaxy S5?

LG G Pad 8.3 Rumored For Verizon
Posted in: Today's ChiliBack in September 2013, LG announced their new tablet, the LG G pad 8.3. Well the good news is that if you were hoping to get your hands on the tablet, @evleaks has revealed that the tablet will be making its way onto Verizon’s network, although he did not mention when exactly that will be, but we guess if the leaks are beginning to make their way online, hopefully an announcement by Verizon regarding pricing and availability will be announced soon. However be sure to check back with us in the near future for more updates.
For those who are learning about the LG G Pad 8.3 for the first time, this is the latest tablet released by LG. The handset will sport an 8.3” 1920×1200 IPS display with a pixel density of 273PPI. The tablet will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, a 4,600mAh battery, and will come in either 16 or 32GB storage options that can be expanded via microSD. The tablet will also come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean preinstalled, although we’re not sure if it will be updated by the time it arrives on Verizon’s network. So, who’s looking forward to getting their hands on the tablet?

Phones these days seem to do away with the need for physical keyboards, unlike in the past. In fact phones these days seem to sport extremely large displays that blurs the line between smartphone and tablet, but with that being said, is there a market for phones with QWERTY keyboards? BlackBerry seems to be sticking to be sticking to their guns, but it looks like LG still thinks there’s a market for it. Back in 2013 a certain LG Optimus G3Q was leaked and if the rumors are to be believed, is pegged for a release on T-Mobile on the 22nd of January.
Now thanks to a leak by @evleaks, a new photo of the handset has since been released, with @evleaks claiming that this is the final design that will be arriving on T-Mobile’s network. The difference in design is more obvious in the keyboard, where the previous image showed flatter keys, while the new photo suggests raised/curved keys. As far as the rest of the specs are concerned, the LG Optimus F3Q will pack a 4” WVGA display with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, a 2,460mAh battery, a 5MP rear-facing camera, and will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which is admittedly an odd choice given that Android 4.4.2 KitKat is the latest version. In any case if a QWERTY keyboard phone is what you’re after, check back with us on the 22nd of January for the details.

Back in 2013, LG unveiled the G Flex, a phone with a dramatically curved display that was announced shortly after Samsung’s own Galaxy Round efforts. Now what made the LG G Flex particular interesting was how the phone had self-healing powers whereby scratches made to the back of the phone would heal itself. Another unique ability, although one probably unintended, was how if you pressed down on the phone, it would actually flatten itself out before springing back into shape. Unfortunately as this was an intended feature of the phone, it seems to have developed some issues, such as bubbles forming on the display of the phone which is apparently caused by continuous flexing.
According to a statement released by LG, “Please don’t try to use frequent, excessive force on the device or the screen. The reason we’ve made the G Flex screen elastic is to protect the device from damage from sudden impacts such as being sat on or laid down on.” LG’s explanation is sound as we expect that the feature was meant to be used that way, as opposed to a cool party trick to impress your friends with. Now for those of you with G Flex devices, LG states that the bumps will go away over time and can be remedied by pressing on them lightly, so perhaps that’s worth giving a try, and you’ll probably not want to keep flexing your phone in the future for fun anymore either.
