The LG G Flex happens to be the first curved, flexible smartphone in the world, and it will be a Sprint exclusive that will be able to take advantage of Sprint Spark, which is enhanced LTE that supports a new generation of online gaming, virtual reality, advanced cloud services and other applications that require high bandwidth.

Gold LG G2 Surfaces For Sale On E-Commerce Website

Gold LG G2 Surfaces For Sale On E Commerce Website

Last year we saw a lot of manufacturers jump on the “gold” bandwagon. A number of major flagships were released in gold color, which is believed to appeal to masses in certain markets. Even Apple took the plunge, offering its flagship iPhone 5s smartphone in champagne color. We saw a similar move from HTC and Samsung, as well as various Chinese vendors. It appears that LG has succumbed to the temptation as well, and has offered last year’s flagship, the LG G2, in gold as well.

The listing for the gold LG G2 was spotted on e-commerce website ePrice, which is currently selling said smartphone in 16GB and 32GB flavors for $500 and $560 respectively, these units are SIM-free and aren’t locked to any mobile carrier. It warrants mentioning here that LG hasn’t officially announced that gold is now a color option in which the G2 is available in, the company has not commented on this report so far, hopefully it will speak up and let us know in the near future. It certainly wouldn’t surprise anyone to see LG launch a gold colored smartphone as well, the color seems to be quite popular so there’s really no harm in accommodating that consumer preference as well.

Mysterious LG D830 Could Feature 13MP Camera With 4K Video Playback

Mysterious LG D830 Could Feature 13MP Camera With 4K Video PlaybackTowards the end of 2013, we reported on a mysterious LG device that had the model number D830. At that time it was speculated that this might be the successor to the LG G2, and now according to the folks at Phone Arena, they have managed to get their hands on LG’s User Agent Profile in which additional specifications of the LG D830 have been revealed, assuming that the information is accurate, of course. The previous UAP showed that the handset would feature a Full HD display, and now the additional specs are claiming a 13MP camera with the ability to support 4K video playback, and also 120fps which is basically support for slow-motion playback. Apart from that, not much else is known.

It’s interesting that LG is still keeping to a Full HD 1920×1080 display, especially in the face of the competition from Vivo and Oppo, and maybe even Samsung, who have released devices with 2K resolutions which are higher than Full HD which has more or less become a standard for 2013’s flagship devices. Assuming that LG does stick to a Full HD display, it will no doubt be a disadvantage, at least in terms of marketing, to their direct rival, Samsung. Hopefully these are not the final specs but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more information, so be sure to check back with us at a later date and hopefully LG will have something to share at MWC 2014!

LG’s new Ultra HD TVs will support Ultra HD 4K from Netflix

lg-netflixLG intends to bring something new to the masses this year with their 2014 4K TV range to offer Ultra HD 4K support from Netflix, and this announcement came about at the recently concluded CES 2014. Both LG and Netflix already have had a storied history when it comes to first-to-market introductions, where among them include the first network Blu-ray player that will deliver Netflix streaming all the way back in 2008, resulting in a new generation of Internet-connected consumer electronics devices.

According to Reed Hastings, president and CEO of Netflix, “As the world’s leading Internet TV network, Netflix will be among the first to deliver Ultra HD to consumers. Streaming will be the primary way consumers receive 4K content and we are excited to be working with LG to make this a reality later this year.”

LG’s 2014 ULTRA HD TVs have been specially designed in a way to deliver the latest standards for connectivity, content protection as well as program encoding, which means that they are specially equipped to handle 4K streaming. The main key to ensure that this capability is good from the get go would be to throw in a built-in 4K HEVC 60p decoder, allowing the LG TVs to decode broadcast signals in both H.264 and HEVC H.265 formats, regardless of whether in 30p or 60p.

Apart from that, each TV will also come with LG’s new webOS Smart TV platform, where it will include a refreshingly intuitive user experience that is meant to make Smart TV – well, smart, and for one to enjoy a modern TV experience. Users are able to move back and forth between services in a more intelligent manner that enables smoother, faster transitions between screens. In addition, the webOS’s Live Menu will also deliver a range of information, features and content including TV show recommendations, a search bar and previously viewed programs.
