LG’s Life Band Touch Health Tracker/Smartwatch And Heart Rate Earphones Ship This Spring

IMG_6981

LG’s Life Band Touch is a fitness tracker that offers smartwatch features, including incoming call notifications and display. It uses Bluetooth LE, and works with both Android and iOS devices. There are controls on the device that let you switch tracks, play and pause music and more.

For fitness tracking, the Life Band Touch can report steps taken, distance travelled, pace and even calories burned. It has a built-in LED display to let you keep track of all that data without activating your phone, and it’s water resistant. It can work with existing fitness applications, too, so developers can integrate it into their own offering.

IMG_6986The Life Band Touch is launching this spring in the U.S., along with the Heart Rate Earphones, which use an optical sensor to measure the blood flow to your ears to determine your heart rate, and add that data to the information collected by the Life Band Touch itself.

LG announces Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE vacuum cleaner

lghombotThe folks over at LG have just announced that they will be offering a new kind of vacuum cleaner to the masses, and what better way to celebrate such an entry into the world of consumer electronics than to do so at CES 2014? We are talking about the LG Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE which will offer a significant boost in cleaning performance, thanks to it being equipped with LG’s innovative smart technologies that will include Smart Control, Cleaning History, Smart Diagnosis and Software Update. Basically, this slew of technologies would enable owners to remotely control the device using their smartphones.

The Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE is unique thanks to its ability to clean the hard-to-reach places in your home. Basically, it moves in the same direction as LG’s ultimate goal, which is to improve people’s lives. Thanks to Corner Master, LG’s Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE will be able to clean effectively and efficiently. Corner Master is made up of a couple of long brushes, where there will be corner detecting sensors that will work alongside the cleaner’s unique shape. Thanks to its angular form and redesigned brushes which happen to be 1.5cm longer than on its predecessor, the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE will be able to remove dust and dirt from tight corners. This allows the vacuum cleaner to know of its exact location in the home, where it will then direct it to turn whenever it has reached the edge of a room.

A couple of improved Dual Eye 2.0 cameras will see action on the HOM-BOT SQUARE, allowing it to be smarter, faster and more efficient when it comes to its cleaning performance. Capable of snapping several images each second, the upper and lower cameras will check out ceilings, walls and floors, never mind in low light conditions. Such information will then be analyzed by the Smart HOM-BOT SQUARE so that a smart map is generated. There is also a large capacity Easy-out Dust Bin that makes cleaning a whole lot more convenient since it requires less frequent emptying.

LG Shows off 105-inch Curved TV with “5K” Resolution

CES 2014 is upon us, and even though I can’t yet set foot into any booths, plenty of companies are trying to get a jump on things with early product announcements. Perhaps one of the biggest items we’ll see at this year’s show – based on sheer size – is LG’s massive 105-inch Ultra HD TV.

This enormous set offers a large curved screen with a resolution of 5120 x 2160 pixels, which LG is calling “5K”. Yes, kids – this set has over 11 million pixels. Of course, my point and shoot camera has even more pixels, so I’m sure this isn’t the end of the display resolution wars. The display has a 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio, and incorporates a Harmon Kardon sound system, offering enveloping 7.2 surround sound using only speakers in the display.

While I’m pretty sure I’ll never have one of these in my living room, I’m certainly looking forward to checking it out on the CES floor this week.

LG Ultra PC and Tab-Book 2 set to hit CES 2014

LG-T5402LG Electronics has big plans for CES 2014, and two of those will include the most recent Ultra PC (Model 13Z940) in addition to their second generation Tab-Book 2 hybrid devices (Models 11T740 and 11T540). Sporting far slimmer designs, the company’s most recent PC products would weigh less than what their predecessors did, in addition to featuring a far more refined set of features without being too harsh in terms of its form factor. All of them will run on Windows 8.1 as the oeperating system of choice, while taking into consideration LG’s superior IPS display technology.

First of all, the LG Ultra PC, also known as the 13Z940 if you love to play around with model numbers, would tip the scales at under 1kg, where it will boast of a clean and minimalist design. LG’s streamlined model will be able to deliver improved processing, excellent graphics performance as well as an extended battery life courtesy of the Haswell Intel Core i5 processor. Not only that, the LG Ultra PC would also come with a 128GB or 256GB SSD, allowing you to enjoy instantaneous booting alongside greater user convenience. Other hardware specifications include a Full HD 13.3” IPS display that has a Super Narrow Bezel design that measures just 4.4mm thin.

As for the LG Tab-Book 2, this particular model will continue the good fight of its predecessor, where it will run on Windows 8.1 as the operating system of choice, delivering 10-point touch control as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard that remain hidden under the11.6” touchscreen display. Pressing a button at the side of the unit would allow the keyboard to glide smoothly from beneath the display as an immediate call to action. The flagship model 11T740 Tab-Book 2 is extremely svelte at just 16.7mm thin, which makes it ideal to tote around without causing too much unnecessary burden on your shoulders, tipping the scales at a mere 1.05kg. Pricing details for both devices remain to be determined as at press time.
