5.5 Inch LG Gx Smartphone Rumored
Posted in: Today's ChiliKorean manufacturer LG’s latest devices have received great reviews, and despite rumors that it might shift its focus away from the smartphone business, the company continues to churn out great products. LG has already rubbished rumors of abandoning the smartphone market, its definitely out there to establish a greater footing. One of the first devices that LG might release next year could be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. According to a purported promotional document coming in from Korea, the company currently has a 5.5 inch smartphone under the wraps called LG GX.
It is expected to have a 5.5 inch full HD IPS display, 32GB onboard storage, a 13 megapixel camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 3,140mAh battery and even support for LTE-Advanced. Judging by these rumored specifications, the Gx might comfortably sit between the Optimus G and the recently released G2. That’s not the only smartphone that LG is expected to unveil soon. Rumor has it that a mini variant of the G2 is also being developed, perhaps we might get to see it at CES 2014 as well. For now LG hasn’t said what it plans to show at the biggest consumer electronics show, so a grain of salt is definitely advised.

There’s a new tablet appearing soon from Google called the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition, the first tablet to enter this arena of “Nexus” devices. This isn’t the first time a device has been released with a more “pure” version of Android – we’ve got the Nexus 7 and 10, after all, but […]
Over the past few weeks it has consistently been rumored that LG has a new tablet up its sleeve bearing model number LG V510. Without any official confirmation from the company itself, speculation was bound to heat up. It was believed that this is the new Nexus 8 tablet we have been hearing about for quite some time now. As it turns out, the tablet isn’t actually a Nexus 8. As per open source files released online by LG itself, the LG V510 is a Google Play Edition G Pad 8.3 tablet, which would make it the first GPE Android tablet.
The first GPE smartphones were released earlier this year, the Galaxy S4 and HTC One. They are supposed to offer near vanilla Android experience, and are further up in line whenever a major Android OS update is rolled out. There’s really nothing different in the GPE devices apart from the software, all hardware specifications remain the same. So the LG V510 is likely to have a 1,920×1,200 pixel resolution 8.3 inch display with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM, 5 megapixel rear and 1.3 megapixel front camera and 16GB of onboard storage. These are the specifications already found in LG G Pad 8.3. Whether or not the GPE G Pad 8.3 will come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled, remains to be seen. A release date is not known at this point in time.

Source Code Says LG’s G-Pad Tablet Will Get The Google Play Edition Treatment
Posted in: Today's ChiliGoogle and LG have been getting awfully cozy lately — the web giant tasked the Korean company with delivering its two most recent Nexus smartphones, and if you’re the type to put stock in rumors, it seemed like a new Nexus tablet (bearing the model number “LG-V510″) would be the next fruit of their union.
Well, according some files posted to LG’s own site, it isn’t. Not exactly, anyway. Some industrious redditors (via Droid-Life) discovered that LG posted a source code update for that very device on its Open Source Code Distribution page, and a little bit of unzipping revealed the truth of the matter. The tablet in question isn’t a shiny new Nexus model, it’s a version of the company’s 8.3-inch G-Pad that’s getting the Google Play Edition treatment.
Google launched the Google Play Edition initiative earlier this year with special versions of the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S 4 that featured nearly-stock versions of Android instead of the highly-customized builds that their cousins ship with. I’d argue the benefits only really appeal to the real nerds and tinkerers among you — being SIM unlocked is nice, but more importantly those GPE phones generally get updates awfully quickly to boot. Granted, the update process isn’t quite as fast it is for members the Nexus line since their software build contains small additions to power non-standard features like the One’s BoomSound speakers.
Still, this is a pretty big deal for a company that doesn’t have much experience in crafting tablets and seems to speak to how closely the Google-LG relationship has grown in recent years. Like the One and the Galaxy S 4 before it, the G-Pad is no slouch: it sports an 8.3-inch IPS display running at 1920 x 1200, along with a Snapdragon 600 chipset, and 2GB of RAM. If LG’s source code files are legit and not some intricate prank, the tablet won’t be the speediest thing to grace the Google Play store, though early reviews of the thing are generally positive.
There are still plenty of questions surrounding this thing, not least of which is when it’ll officially see the light of day for the first time. CES 2014 is right around the corner and LG has snapped up the very first press conference slot on the pre-show press day so it would have a captive audience of reporters to show the thing off too. Then again, Google was in charge of unveiling both previous Google Play Edition devices, so the tablet may wind up headlining its own event. I’ve reached out to Google for comment, and will update this story if/when they respond.
I am quite sure that many of us have heard of this complaint before, that men are unable to multitask. The folks over at LG have come up with a new short film, calling it ’So Viral It’s Scary’, where they intend to see whether men are really unable to multitask as legend has it, or is it just a misconception? This particular humorous film will also throw in a bit of advertising (that goes without saying, of course), where the all new LG IPS 21:9 UltraWide monitor is touted to be the perfect tool for multitasking. The video will obviously make use of the aforementioned monitor in addition to some rather outrageous scare tactics that will include hidden compartments, killer dogs and psycho clowns.
‘So Viral It’s Scary’ might sound familiar to some, where it happens to be the next installment in LG’s extremely successful ‘So Real It’s Scary’ viral prank series. In fact, all of the previous three films picked up over 45 million views collectively, although there is the danger of pranking consumers being stale as more and more advertisers start to adopt this particular tactic. LG did make good use of its 84″ UHD TV to depict a fake meteor crash as part of a prank in the past that did draw some attention, too.

LG V510 Tablet Images Leaked
Posted in: Today's ChiliIt was just at the beginning of this month when we brought you speculation surrounding the LG V510, where certain quarters claim that this could very well be the Nexus 8 that is about to be released sometime down the road. Well, @evleaks has dropped another hint recently that the LG V510 tablet could very well be an 8” tablet. If one were to take a step back and cast an eye in the direction of the LG G Pad 8.3 which carries the codename V500, then the V510 might fool folks into thinking that this is a variant of the LG G Pad 8.3, save for the fact that it boasts of LTE connectivity or something similar, but @evleaks claimed otherwise.
Well, an image of the LG V510 has started to make its rounds, with specifications that agree with @evleaks’ assessment – that this will be a Wi-Fi only model, although it will come with different internal coding. There is also a lack of Nexus branding anywhere, while there are mistakes in the manual when it comes to the English language. As to whether this will be the first Nexus 8 to hit the market or not, that remains to be seen. As far as the world is concerned, LG has a new tablet up their sleeves.

LG G2 Mini Rumored
Posted in: Today's ChiliHave you ever wondered as to why certain companies like to roll out a “mini” version of a perfectly fine and working handset? Perhaps it is because they have already done their bit to position the brand of the smartphone in such a way where it might cost even more money to actually start branding a new kind of device, so why not save that dough with some of the work already completed, use a similar looking chassis at a smaller physical form factor with lesser specs, and rely on the same name, except that there is the suffix “mini” behind it? The LG G2 too, might be on the receiving end of the mini treatment, where the display is tipped to be 4.7″ in size.
Come to think of it, 4.7″ is not mini by any means if you were to roll back the clock by a couple of years, heck, it is still bigger than what the iPhone 5s has. It remains to be seen just what kind of resolution will the 4.7″ display carry, although it is widely tipped to arrive with 2GB RAM and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU. Pundits speculate that it could be unveiled at CES which is all set to kick off in less than a month’s time.
