If you say the name HP, most of us automatically think about computers. HP is one of the largest computer manufacturers in the world. The problem for HP is that the computer market is shrinking rapidly with declining sales in the face of the booming popularity of smartphones and tablets. HP has tried its hand […]
Samsung might be first off the blocks with their Samsung Galaxy Round that sports a curved display, but this does not mean that they are the only ones in the market with such a device. Well, technically they are, but there are others out there who will have their turn under the spotlight – such as LG. Here we are with yet another photo of the LG G Flex, spotted with a curved display to boot.
Of course, LG did not confirm officially that this will be their first curved-screened smartphone with the name G Flex, but it ought to hit the market sometime later this November. Until the day that happens, this particular handset that will run on the Android Jelly Bean operating system, will remain almost surreal, and we will just have to make do with the handset having been showcased in Argentina on Telefe, which is a television network that is owned by Telefónica. Similar to the LG G2 in this particular aspect, the G Flex would feature buttons that are located on the rear case near the 13-megapixel camera, and chances are, it will also arrive with a fingerprint sensor to help it keep up with the times.

Earlier this month, it was tipped that the LG G Flex curved smartphone will be appearing next month, and a short while later some renders of the handset appeared, showing a gently curved phone that could cradle one’s face. As it turns out, that render was accurate, with photographs of the actual handset appearing today […]
Here’s a closer look at LG’s upcoming curved banana phone, known as the G Flex
LG will soon be launching its first-ever smartphone designed to run Firefox OS soon, doing so in Brazil in partnership with the local carrier Telefonica. The LG Fireweb, not surprisingly, is a lower-end handset meant for those in need of an entry-level device, putting it on par with many ZTE and Huawei handsets, for example. […]
It would appear that the folks at LG have decided that their venture into the Google universe with Android was lucrative enough that they’ll be pushing in to the other quickly rising OS from the company: Chrome. Three trademarks have been filed for recently by LG, each of them appearing with the brand Chrome in […]
This Week On The TC Gadgets Podcast: Windows 8.1, The Kindle Fire HDX, And Curved Display Smartphones
Posted in: Today's ChiliThat’s right. It’s Gadgets Podcast time once again, and all I can say is TGIF.
Here are some of our topics this week:
Who’s already upgraded to Windows 8.1? John had no trouble with it but Matt seems to be lost.
Meanwhile, we’ve been testing out the new Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, and we all pretty much agree that it’s a fine media-centric tablet and a perfect gift for a mother-in-law.
And finally, we discuss the newest trend in smartphones: a curved display. (Here’s Nokia’s concept for a bending display smartphone, which is many years away from commercialization, and also completely different from the curved displays we’re seeing out of Samsung and LG).
Oh, and we’ll be launching our holiday gift guide in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for that.
We chat about all this and more in this week’s episode of the TC Gadgets Podcast, featuring John Biggs, Matt Burns and Jordan Crook.
Enjoy!
We invite you to enjoy our weekly podcasts every Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern and noon Pacific. And feel free to check out the TechCrunch Gadgets Flipboard magazine right here.

The Nexus 5 smartphone, which will be manufactured by the folks over at LG, has been getting its fair amount of attention in recent days, and with good reason, too. It will be the next flagship device from Google, and we have just seen a new batch of press images leaked out, complete with carrier branding to boot. This will certainly add to more buzz about the upcoming Nexus 5, which will actually take just a few more days before it ends up as official.
The leaked images do depict the Nexus 5’s front portion, but that is about it. However, the good news is, these press images look pretty realistic, so chances are it might not be a Photoshop job or a fantastic piece of artwork that was drawn up by an eager beaver of a Nexus 5 fan.
Apart from the now trademark understated look of the Nexus range, the Nexus 5 that was depicted will also come with the Telus carrier branding, which means it will most probably be sold in a whole lot more of other places. Needless to say, there should also be an option to pick up this particular handset as an unlocked device from the Play Store, which frees you from monthly commitments.
