LG will launch its first flat 55-inch OLED HDTV this week in Germany

LG will launch its first flat 55inch OLED HDTV this week

While we’re happy just to see a brand new display technology hit the streets, it was shocking to see LG and Samsung kick off the OLED era with curved displays. That’s going to change however, as LG is bringing the 55EA8800 display to IFA 2013 this week with the notable characteristic of having a shape that’s just like every other HDTV. That it’s flat instead of curved also means this is the first wall-mountable OLED TV, and LG is topping off the experience with 2.2-channel “Canvas Speakers” integrated with a faux art mat behind the display itself. The art theme continues with a “Gallery Mode” that displays high res artwork from painters including Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin, or ones personal family pictures. There’s no word on pricing yet, but after its German introduction other markets are expected to follow — check after the break for the press release and in the gallery for a few more pictures. %Gallery-slideshow77145%

The device was said to be called LG G Pad, a purported render was leaked recently and LG’s CEO himself confirmed the tablet after the company posted a teaser video online. The Korean manufacturer has now officially launched the LG G Pad 8.3 inch tablet, it will be formally introduced next month at the IFA conference in Berlin.

The LG G Pad tablet has an 8.3 inch display which offers 1,920×1,200 pixel resolution at 273 pixels per inch. LG IPS 21:9 UltraWide All-In-One PC unveiled at IFA 2013

lg-ips-monitorThe larger, the better. That is more or less the mantra of many people. After all, just take a look at our surroundings – the rich do want ever larger mansions, not to mention bigger bank vaults to hoard ever increasing earthly treasure, while workers want bigger pay packets to bring home. Fast food restaurants always want you to upsize your meals for a dollar or two, but are all of those really necessary? However, when it comes to work and the well being of your health, perhaps “larger is better” is a mantra that is worth following where the desktop computer is concerned. LG might be on to something here with the unveiling of their LG IPS 21:9 UltraWide All-In-One PC (also known as model V960) at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany.

This is the latest addition that will further expand the cinematically proportioned display range. The IPS 21:9 UltraWide All-In-One PC is proud to be classified as “an advanced desktop” which is said to pack in enough punch to deliver all the advantages of a 21:9 monitor, without the added bulk of another computer chassis placed somewhere in your room. The V960 will be powered by Microsoft’s Windows 8 as the operating system of choice, hence offering a full-fledged PC experience that will be accompanied by a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M GPU for advanced graphics processing. After all, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so that GeForce GT 640M GPU ought to be a relief for gamers and users who want high quality graphical performance on their machine.

Other features of the V960 include picture-in-picture (PIP) functionality, so that you can multitask – for instance, checking up on the latest stock prices while watching a TV channel simultaneously. Apart from that LG’s AIO PC will ship with a keyboard and mouse so that you can get started right out of the box. There is still no word on pricing or regional availability as at press time, but we do hope to hear more about those aspects soon.

LG G Pad 83 revealed ahead of IFA

Following up on its initial tease from earlier this week, LG has officially revealed the G Pad 8.3 ahead of IFA. The slate’s positioned as the next step from its G2 smartphone, and the company claims it’s the first eight-inch tablet with a 1920 x 1200 WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) full HD screen. The device features a 4,600mAh battery, and runs Jelly Bean 4.2.2 atop a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor aided by 2GB of RAM. Despite all that, it’s just 8.33m thick and weighs 338 grams. Software enhancements include QPair and QSlide — the former lets you receive messages and calls from JB-equipped Android phones on the G Pad itself, while the latter allows for three apps to run on-screen at once. What’s more, with KnockOn you simply tap the screen twice to wake it up. The G Pad 8.3 will be available globally beginning in Q4 in your choice of black or white with 16 GB of storage. No word on pricing just yet, but expect a hands-on once we catch it on the show floor.
