LG Optimus L9 II Announced In The Netherlands

LG Optimus L9 II Announced In The NetherlandsA few days ago we saw a leaked image of the upcoming LG Optimus L9 II, which according to a report back in May suggested a June announcement, but we guess it’s pretty obvious that LG has missed the date. In any case better late than never, right? If you believe in that adage, you will be interested to learn that the LG Optimus L9 II has been officially launched in the Netherlands. The handset is an upgrade over the original LG Optimus L9 from back in 2012, and if you liked what you saw then, perhaps its successor could be your cup of tea as well.

The rumors appear to be have been on point as the handset has been revealed to sport a 4.7” True HD IPS display, a dual-core 1.4GHz processor of unknown make, a 2,150mAh battery, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and will come with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean running the show. It’s definitely not the most powerful Android smartphone that LG has put out, but given its specs, we expect that it will probably come with an affordable price tag attached to it that should make it an appealing purchase to customers on a tight budget. It is expected to go on sale this October, although no word on when it will be arriving stateside.

LG G Pad 8.3 Inch Tablet’s Purported Render Leaked

LG G Pad 8.3 Inch Tablets Purported Render Leaked

LG has confirmed that it is once again stepping into the tablet market after nearly two years. Earlier today the company posted a teaser video for the LG G Pad tablet. The video didn’t exactly show the tablet itself or reveal any of its specifications. A purported render of the 8.3 inch G Pad has surfaced online which shows off what is supposedly LG’s upcoming tablet. The design similarities between LG’s latest flagship smartphone, the LG G2 and its upcoming tablet are evident in this render. Though it should be kept in mind that this render comes from an unofficial source, so the end product might look entirely different from what we see here.

This is going to be the first tablet LG releases after the LG Optimus Pad, which was released back in 2011. The Optimus Pad used to be powered by Honeycomb. This one right here is likely to tout Jelly Bean when it comes out. The report accompanying this render reiterates previous rumors that LG G Pad will have a 8.3 inch display which offers 1920×1200 pixel resolution. Rumor has it that LG will unveil this tablet at the IFA conference in Berlin, which is scheduled to take place in the first week of September. [Image via MoviePlayer]

LG G2 Features Showed Off In New Video

LG today posted a four minute video on YouTube detailing the exhaustive feature list of its latest Android flagship smartphone, the LG G2. The device has already been officially unveiled, though it has not been confirmed as yet when it will be released in the U.S. As per recent rumors, Verizon will release the device on September 12th and AT&T will follow up with its own release the very next day. Nothing has been confirmed though, but that doesn’t mean LG will stop touting the features of its new smartphone. This four minute video shows us what the LG G2 is capable of.

It is imperative for LG to generate as much consumer interest as it possibly can ahead of the release next month. Early next month a handful of new devices are going to be released, which are going to be in direct competition with the G2. These devices include Samsung Galaxy Note 3, HTC One Max and the Sony Xperia Z1. The G2 is well equipped to give them all a run for their money. Apart from its 5.2 inch 1080p HD IPS+ display, the device is powered by a 2.2GHz quadcore processor, 2GB RAM, a 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, a 3,000 mAh battery and more.

LG teases upcoming G Pad 8.3 tablet in YouTube video

LG teases upcoming G Pad 83 tablet in YouTube video

When is an official tablet unofficially announced? The answer to that question seems to have evolved over the years, as LG now tends to out its products in teasers a week or so prior to their actual unveiling (the G2 is a perfect example). Now, the company is continuing that trend with the G Pad 8.3, its first tablet since the Optimus Pad LTE, which LG is teasing in a freshly posted YouTube video.

So far, many of the details are still a mystery, but we do know the mid-sized tablet is coming (presumably alongside a smartwatch and Firefox OS device), and will most likely make its debut at IFA next week. The video involves professional actors real people on the street talking about what makes a tablet right for them, with answers including a portability, ease of use, quickness, full HD display, the ability to connect to smart TVs and keeping it thin. We have no doubt these “interviews” indicate what we can expect from the still-unannounced slate, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for more clues as we get closer to its launch. We’ve embedded the video after the break, along with a shot of the logo.

LG G Pad Video Teaser Spotted

Normally, before a particular device actually hits the stage or is officially announced/unveiled, chances are there would have been plenty of leaks happening before that. In fact, the iPhone 5S would be a prime example of such a case study, and we have seen more than our fair share of iPhone 5S leaks and alleged photos, so much so that it runs the risk of iPhone 5S fatigue even before the handset is officially announced, champagne or otherwise. The LG G Pad is an upcoming tablet that, while it will not carry that kind of clout which Apple’s upcoming smartphone does, it is still worth looking out for, especially when you are into Android-powered tablets and want a performer that does not arrive wanting.

The clock has begun ticking, with less than 10 days to go until IFA 2013 happens, which also happens to be the widely speculated showcase that will see the LG G Pad announced to the world for the first time. Perhaps in a move to whet our appetites, LG has rolled out a video teaser that you can watch above in an attempt to add to the hype. What do you think this 8.3” G Pad is going to be like when it finally arrives?

LG G Pad 8.3 teased in “just right” street video

If you had any doubt that LG was bringing on a small-sized tablet in the coming weeks, today’s LG G Pad 8.3 teaser video should douse that right quick. What we’re seeing here is LG asking questions of prospective tablet users on the street, seeing first what makes their current tablet (10.1-inches, more than likely), […]

LG Optimus L9 II Photo Leaked Before Official Rollout

LG Optimus L9 II Photo Leaked Before Official RolloutEarlier this year at MWC 2013, there was one odd device out from LG’s stable of smartphones, which so happened to be the LG Optimus L9 being the sole device from the L range that will not be on the receiving end of a successor. Well, things do change from time to time, and word on the street has it that the LG Optimus L9 II will be unveiled in due time – not to mention with a launch date following closely after that. From what we can tell according to the leaked photo of the alleged LG Optimus L9 II above, this particular device does share many physical similarities to its predecessor, but one main difference would be the lack of a hardware Home key, as that was ditched in favor of a capacitive one.

The LG Optimus L9 II has been rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon S4 chipset with a dual-core 1GHz Krait processor, Adreno 305 graphics and 1GB RAM. Other hardware specifications include an 8-megapixel shooter at the back with a 1.3-megapixel camera in front, 8GB of internal memory, and a 2,150mAh battery. Whispers also have it that it will be Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean that will run the show, and all we need now is an official announcement to cement the nitty gritty. After all, the device has already hit the FCC, so it should not be too far away from a release.

LG G Pad Rumored To Sport Snapdragon 600 Chipset, Not Snapdragon 800

LG G Pad Rumored To Sport Snapdragon 600 Chipset, Not Snapdragon 800We have been hearing rumors that LG could be looking to launch new tablets of their own, with certain LG devices even being spotted at the FCC.  In any case the name LG G Pad has also been thrown around quite a bit and we’re sure some of you guys are wondering what sort of hardware specs this alleged device could hold. Last we heard the device could sport an 8.3” display with a resolution of 1920×1200 and will be quad-core powered with 2GB of RAM. At that time it was rumored that the chipset used could be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800, but according to Korean media outlets, it will instead use the Snapdragon 600 chipset rather than the Snapdragon 800.

The sources have also confirmed its 8.3” display and has added that it will be available in both WiFi-only and LTE variants, with the WiFi model destined for the Korean markets, and the LTE model expected to make its way onto Verizon’s network in the US. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but it is possible that the LG G Pad could make its debut at IFA 2013 so if you’d like to learn more, be sure to check back with us then for the details!

Galaxy Tab 3 gets rebranded as ‘Homeboy’ for launch on LG’s Korean mobile network

    Image

Considering that Korea’s warring giants don’t get along too well, it’s amusing to see LG offering a Samsung-made tablet on LG U+, the latter’s domestic cellular network. The “Homeboy” is a re-branded Galaxy Tab 3 that plugs into U+’s services, including TV channels, music, video, e-book and educational software stores, oh, and it’ll double as a GPS while on the go. Leave the unit at home, however, and it’ll also guard the property, texting you if it senses an unwanted intruder — and is, according to the company’s Kang Hyun-ku, the first step in LG’s new connected home platform. That said, given that it’s nearly a nailed-on certainty that we’re going to see LG’s return to the tablet game in short order, we don’t expect the amusingly-titled slate to remain the favorite son in a couple of months.
