Verizon claims its LG G2 variant comes with exclusive wireless charging

LG launched the G2 without any mention of wireless charging, but Verizon seems to have scooped that feature for its own variant of the handset. On its sign-up sheet, Big Red is claiming that the CDMA version will come with “exclusive wireless charging,” and the accompanying image also shows a slightly different design to the rear buttons. Exactly the sort of thing rival carrier CEOs like to squabble over.

LG G Pad Tablet Could Launch At IFA 2013 (Rumor)

LG G Pad Tablet Could Launch At IFA 2013 (Rumor)Yes, there have been rumors surrounding LG and some of the possible devices that they might be working on, including the fabled Nexus 5, but those are just rumors at the moment. Since there are already some rumors flying around the South Korean company, why not throw in two more into the mix – in the form of the LG G Pad? That is the latest whispers on the grapevine, where the LG G Pad is said to be an 8.3” tablet that will boast of a whopping 1,920 x 1,200 resolution display.

According to the sources that were provided by Techblog.gr, the rumored LG G Pad will also be powered by a quad-core processor and accompanied by 2GB RAM. Design-wise, it is tipped to be extremely slim and lightweight in nature, sporting an aluminum back alongside a thin bezel which ought to make it pocket-friendly – in terms of size, as pricing details are still up in the air considering the device itself has not been confirmed in the first place. Word also has it that the LG G Pad will feature an optional cellular network connection. Do you think that this could very well be whispers of an upcoming LG tablet, or is it just something to be dismissed with a large grain of salt?

LG Rumored To Be Working On Nexus 5 (Again)

LG Rumored To Be Working On Nexus 5 (Again)

We expect with the success of Google’s Nexus lineup of smartphones that come later this year, Google will unveil their new Nexus handset, which at the moment has been tentatively named the Nexus 5. So who will be the one in charge of the Nexus 5? LG? Well previous rumors have suggested that LG could be the one responsible for making the Nexus 5, although a later report suggested otherwise, and the most recent rumor has us thinking that Motorola could be it.

Well it looks like the attention is back on LG again, thanks to a recent report from MyDrivers which has suggested that LG and Google are currently working on something which they speculate could be the next Nexus handset. It has been speculated that LG and Google could be working on turning the recently announced LG G2 into a Nexus-like device, although not all of its hardware will be making its way into the Nexus version of the handset, such as its Snapdragon 800 chipset which could see a switch to the Snapdragon 600.

In any case since nothing has been confirmed, we’ll take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Would you like to see an LG G2 Nexus device?

Nexus 5 tipped for LG, complete with Nexus 4 pricing

Though we’ve already explored the possibility that Motorola might be making the next Nexus smartphone for Google, it’s time for LG to have a swing at things. And why not? They’ve made the Nexus 4 successfully, and Google’s been nothing if not satisfied with the high-powered sales stream that is the device as sold through […]

You’re Doing It Wrong: LG Unveils Retro TV with Channel and Volume Knobs

We live in a marvelous age. It’s so nice not to not have to get up off your butt to change the channel or turn the sound up. Who wants exercise? Besides, as a species, our fingers are probably stronger than they have ever been, hitting the keys on remotes and using our touchscreens. LG wants to undo all of this progress by introducing a TV that could have come from 30+ years ago.

LG’s 32LN630R (~$750 USD) is a brand new full HD flat screen equipped with a 32 inch IPS panel display. But it has actual knobs on it! How dare they? That front is trimmed with wood and it even has those old-timey legs. Funny thing is, this isn’t the first time LG has tried such shenanigans.

What if I don’t want to leave the couch? Don’t buy it people! I will never go back! You hear me LG? Never! What’s next? An eight-track player in a smartphone? A phonograph in a tablet?

Acer Liquid E2 lands on Three in the UK, LG Optimus L1 II coming soon

Acer Liquid E2 lands on Three in the UK, LG Optimus L1 II coming soon

Granted, it’s not the most exciting of handset announcements, but if you can’t face yet another day without a budget Android smartphone packing dual loudspeakers, Three’s got the Acer Liquid E2 for ya. It’s available now on PAYG for £150 (around $232), or on contracts starting at £17 ($26ish) per month if you sign up for a two-year plan. If the overwhelming power of the Liquid E2 makes you nervous, you could always hold off for the lower-end LG Optimus L1 II, which will be launching on the network “soon.”

LG Vu 3 Rumored For Possible 4th September Announcement

LG Vu 3 Rumored For Possible 4th September AnnouncementBack in July we reported that according to the rumor mill, word had it that LG was looking to take another stab a creating a phablet to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note series, possibly in the form of the LG Vu 3. Presumably this would be the successor to the LG Optimus Vu 2, which was the successor to the original Optimus Vu, and would come with more impressive hardware. However the rumors seemed to suggest otherwise, even suggesting some specs that would have made it an impressive device, back in 2012 at least. (more…)

LG G2 Launch Event In Korea Ends In Disaster

It was last week when LG officially announced their latest smartphone, the LG G2. Given that the G2 will be the company’s flagship smartphone for the moment, naturally LG is doing everything they can to get the word about the device and has probably spent a lot of money on marketing and promotions, but it seems that over in South Korea, LG’s marketing stunt might have actually shed negative light onto the company and its product, rather than casting them in a positive light.

Basically what LG did was that the released a bunch of balloons into the sky with the balloons containing vouchers which would give winners a free handset. Since we can’t fly, the next best thing would be to shoot these balloons down, which some in the crowd attempted to do with BB guns, but unfortunately this resulted in innocent bystanders getting shot by accident rather than the balloons. LG has since apologized for the fiasco and will cover the cost of medical fees, with future events to be cancelled. South Korean news outlets have posted videos of the event, so if you’d like to see what went down, check out the video above.
