LG Launches New Smart Bulb, Connects via Bluetooth or WiFi

LG Smart BulbLG announced the release of a new Smart Bulb in the coming days in Korea that interacts with you through your iOS or Android device. This new LED light bulb comes with some pretty nifty features which are already leaving us wanting in the US.

This simple but handy features include blinking the light when you have a call on your device, and having a light slowly brighten as a silent alarm from your mobile device. The LG Smart Bulb can also be set to turn on and off for periods of time during the day while you are away on vacation to make house look as if someone is home. Another cool feature allows your mobile OS to set mood lighting based on the music that it’s playing. So having some really intense music will generate a bright light, while more subdued music will generate low light.

The bulb will be for sale in Korea in the coming days for around $32 which sounds like a bargain to us considering it is supposed to last up to just over 18,000 hours.

LG L70 Pre-Order For €179

LG L70 Pre Order For €179The LG L70 was first announced before Mobile World Congress 2014 kicked off in Barcelona, Spain, earlier this year, where the LG L70 was specially released in order to take over from where the LG Optimus L7 II left off. As for the hardware specifications, we should not expect anything on the high end side of things, so this particular handset will have to settle down as something on the mid-range scale, featuring a 4.5″ WVGA IPS display, a dual-core Snapdragon 200 chipset, 4GB of internal memory as well as an 8MP camera that is located at the back.

LG KnockOn Feature To Arrive For L Series II Handsets This Month

LG KnockOn Feature To Arrive For L Series II Handsets This MonthOne of the new features that LG introduced to some of its Android handsets back in December of 2013 was the KnockOn feature. For those unfamiliar as to what the feature does, in case the name wasn’t obvious enough, is that it allows users to wake up their phone simply by double tapping the screen.

Such features are available to Android phones that have been flashed with custom ROMs and tweaks, but for those unfamiliar with the process or do not want to do so, we guess KnockOn is a good alternative. (more…)

LG’s Patented Slap Bracelet Stylus Rumored To Be Made A Reality

LGs Patented Slap Bracelet Stylus Rumored To Be Made A RealityEarlier this year, an LG patent was spotted which seemed to be some kind of smartwatch/stylus combo rolled into a single device. The idea alone is pretty unique but what made it even more interesting was the idea that it could “slapped” onto the wrist, much like those slap bands from back in the 1990s that kids used to play with.

If you grew up in the 90s chances are you might remember those slap bracelets. In any case according to the folks at Phandroid, their sources have told them that this slap bracelet-styled stylus is actually being made a reality, except that instead of it being a smartwatch/stylus combo, they will simply be a stylus that has the ability to curl up (pictured above). LG G Watch will run on Android Wear

lg-g-watchIt does seem as though the smartwatch market segment is all set to scale greater heights than ever before, with word that Google will be releasing the Android Wear platform that makes wearable technology all the more viable in everyday life. Motorola did announce their Moto 360 smartwatch earlier this week, and South Korean consumer electronics giant LG has decided to hit back with a reply of their own, calling it the LG G Watch. This LG G Watch will run on Android Wear, and that makes it play nice with a wide range of Android smartphones, as it works to offer you relevant information as and when you require. Alternatively, you can just speak “OK Google” to the LG G Watch, ask it a question, and get stuff done.

LG, being one of Google’s lead partners in this effort, has plans in their pipeline to introduce the LG G Watch to the masses sometime in the second quarter of this year, so we should not see it being delayed beyond June 2014. The LG G Watch that is powered by Android Wear is touted to offer a low barrier to entry for developers, and not only that, it also claims to offer the best Google experience for users. I suppose only time will tell when the device is finally delivered to the masses.

LG engineers have been said to have worked closely with Google from the initial stages of development to ensure that the LG G Watch worked perfectly with Android Wear. This makes the LG G Watch as LG’s fourth device developed in close collaboration with Google, where the previous three models would be the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition.

Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, shared, “The opportunity to work with Google on LG G Watch was the perfect chance for LG to really pull out all stops in both design and engineering. With the LG G Watch, LG is continuing the milestones we’ve set in wearables following in the footsteps of the world’s first 3G Touch Watch Phone in 2009 and the Prada Link in 2008. We’re confident that a well-designed device has the potential to take the smart wearable market by storm.”

LG G Pro 2 Priced Cheaper Than Galaxy S5 In Taiwan

LG G Pro 2 Priced Cheaper Than Galaxy S5 In TaiwanAs far as Android handsets are concerned, Samsung and LG are rivals. Both companies hail from South Korea and both are battling it out for smartphone dominance with the Android platform. However it’s safe to say that Samsung is probably leading at the moment, but interesting enough it looks like LG could be trying to tempt potential Samsung customers over with lower prices.

Earlier at MWC 2014 last month, both LG and Samsung unveiled their flagship devices. With LG it was the LG G Pro 2, while Samsung had the Galaxy S5. Both phones are almost identical save for the screen size, with the G Pro 2 packing a 5.9-inch Full HD display while the Galaxy S5 featured a 5.1-inch Full HD display, and the choice of chipset where LG went with the Snapdragon 800 versus the Galaxy S5’s Snapdragon 801. Samsung Galaxy Note 4, LG G3, Vega Iron 2 Will Be Waterproof Devices

Samsung Galaxy Note 4, LG G3, Vega Iron 2 Will Be Waterproof DevicesIt does seem that the next evolution in smartphones would be the inclusion of waterproof capability without making the handset lose any of its aesthetic pleasantness. It seems that the Samsung Galaxy S5 as well as the Sony Xperia Z2 will not be too lonely in the waterproof Android-powered smartphone camp in 2014, as South Korean media has reported that additional devices that feature waterproof capability are in the pipeline for the year ahead – with LG and Pantech part of the effort, too.
