LG QuickWindow Case for the upcoming LG G2

It goes without saying that every single company needs a defining product that they can call their flagship, as that would represent the pinnacle of the company’s achievement in that particular niche. For instance, when it comes to the world of smartphones, Nokia of Finland has their recently introduced Nokia Lumia 1020 with a whopping 41-megapixel camera, while Samsung has been riding high with their Samsung Galaxy S4 (and its many variants) for some time already, with Apple preparing a new iPhone, leaving the iPhone 5 to be the standard bearer at the moment. What about LG? Well, LG used to have its Optimus G Pro as its flagship device, but in the months to come, we do know that there is a new smartphone arriving that will take over the Optimus G Pro, and that would be the LG G2. Having said that, the LG G2, being a flagship smartphone, should be accompanied by a case worthy of its calling, no? This is where the LG QuickWindow case comes in.

The LG QuickWindow is said to be an aesthetically beautiful case, and it would certainly set a high standard for the rest of LG’s growing premium smartphone accessory range which will comprise of cases, headsets and portable chargers. Why is it called the LG QuickWindow? Well, the answer is pretty obvious thanks to an opening or “window” that is located on the cover of the QuickWindow, allowing users to take a glance at different information displays without having to go through the hassle of opening the cover flap.

With but a light swipe of a finger, the QuickWindow UX will appear in the window which users are able to check out while on-the-go. All information that can be viewed through the QuickWindow cover are important ones, including a clock, weather report, alarm, music player, incoming phone call details and incoming text messages.

We have no word on pricing, but it should arrive in seven different colors including black, white, pink, purple, blue, mint and yellow at the same time that the LG G2 is unveiled.

LG Vu 3 Rumored To Be In The Works

LG Vu 3 Rumored To Be In The WorksLG attempted to beat Samsung at their own game with phablets by releasing the Optimus Vu, an oddly-shaped device. While we did not think it caught on too well, LG decided that it did and promptly released the Optimus Vu II, and now it seems that LG could be considering a successor. Given that Samsung is currently working on the Galaxy Note 3, we guess it wouldn’t be a complete shock if LG wanted to steal some of that spotlight for themselves.

While LG has obviously not confirmed any of this, according to recent rumors, the Optimus Vu III will feature a 4:3 display ratio (size of the screen was not mentioned) and will sport a resolution of 1280×960 which would definitely pale in comparison to the Galaxy Note 3 and its rumored 5.7” Full HD display. Other rumored specs remain unknown at this point. The reason behind the speculation that LG could be working on a Vu III is thanks to a photo which was taken by a device known as the LG-F300L, which some have taken to be the Vu III.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but assuming it is true, the Vu III does not appear to be the powerhouse, at least as far as displays are concerned. Perhaps LG might be approaching this from a budget standpoint where it would be an affordable alternative to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3.

LG G2 Features Audio From Vienna Boys’ Choir

LG G2 Features Audio From Vienna Boys’ Choir The LG G2 is definitely not a smartphone that is a stranger to leaks and rumors, as we have seen a promotional video as well as a teaser video released in the space of one month, with word that it will launch across 100 carriers across the globe when the time is ripe, while arriving with a snazzy looking QuickWindow case which makes it somewhat similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2′s corresponding accessory. Well, it seems that there is more than meets the eye with the upcoming LG G2, as we have official word that it will feature audio from the Vienna Boys’ Choir. This audio will arrive preloaded on each LG G2 that ships out, and audiophiles should be excited by this prospect.

South Korean consumer electronics giant LG has apparently worked closely with the choir in order to develop a range of unique harmonic sounds, where among them will include nine ringtones and five notifications and alarms. Not only that, a quartet of musical chimes including Bach’s Air on the G String have also been thrown into the mix. Does this bit of information help influence your purchase decision down the road? LG G2 to include ringtones from the Vienna Boys’ Choir… yes, really

LG G2 to include music from the Vienna Boys' Choir say what

LG isn’t shy about its love of classical music, having once struck a deal with Ennio Morricone to put his tunes on the company’s phones. However, we’ll still admit to being caught off-guard by its next collaboration: when the G2 is officially revealed on August 7th, it will include the dulcet sounds of the Vienna Boys’ Choir. The Android flagship will ship with nine ringtones and five alerts sung by the youth group, along with four musical chimes. Beautiful devices need beautiful music, LG argues. Whether or not that’s really true, you won’t have to wait long to hear the end result. LG will post free music on the G2’s teaser site on August 1st, including a choral version of its standard ringtone.

LG BTS1 Bluetooth Headset

LG BTS1 Bluetooth HeadsetBluetooth headsets are plentiful in the market, and it is not too often that you see a smartphone manufacturer take the time and effort to allocate some resources for a niche market, working on something that is not their forte. LG, however, has just introduced the LG BTS1 Bluetooth Headset in South Korea, where it is relatively tiny with measurements that would rival that of a matchbox (we are talking about 35.9mm × 50.2mm × 19.2mm) here.

The LG BTS1 Bluetooth Headset is also touted to feature an 8 hour battery life on a full charge, while it sports a built-in clip, support for the aptX codec, and on-board controls for volume, pause and play, the ability to shift through your songs as well as being able to help you carry out a conversation with it without missing a beat. Thanks to Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, this puppy ought to be able to play nice with the likes of compatible smartphones, laptops, tablets and TVs too, especially those that are part of LG’s 2013 line-up. No idea on whether we will ever see the LG BTS1 Bluetooth Headset arrive Stateside, but it is going for approximately $53 after conversion in its home country.

LG G2 QuickWindow Case Revealed

LG G2 QuickWindow Case RevealedThe FCC approved LG G2 is one smartphone that has gone through its fair share of leaks and teasers in recent times, and with a rumored October release date, we do look forward to it launching on a global scale with more than 100 carriers reportedly involved. Of course, since then we have also heard that the LG G2 could very well be unveiled this coming August 7th (so much the better), but first things first – how about checking out an accessory of the device that is known as the LG QuickWindow? The QuickWindow will feature a slot that is located right in front, where it will show off part of the LG G2’s display, similar in nature to Samsung’s S View Cover.

All you need to do is slide your finger against the exposed display, and a QuickView user interface will show off important information such as incoming call details, incoming text messages and their content, the time, a weather report, alarm or music player. Expect the QuickWindow to arrive in a bunch of cheery colors including black, blue, mint, pink, purple, white and yellow, where it is tipped to launch simultaneously with the LG G2 itself. LG outs diminutive Bluetooth headset with 8 hours of battery life

LG outs diminutive Bluetooth headset with 8 hours of battery life

LG’s big ticket items may take up most of our attention span, but the South Korean firm’s latest Bluetooth headset solution has caught our eye. Coming in at roughly the size of a matchbox (35.9 × 50.2 × 19.2mm), the BTS1 boasts an 8 hour battery life, features a built-in clip, supports the aptX codec and packs on-board controls for volume, pause and play, sifting through songs and handling phone calls. With the help of Bluetooth 3.0, the pack connects to smartphones, laptops, tablets and even TVs — yes, even those in LG’s 2013 line-up — with the wireless standard baked in. Of course, you could always lean on a Roku 3 if you’re hankering for a wire-free television experience for your earbuds. There’s no word of a US release, but if you find yourself in PSY’s homeland, you’ll be able to score one for 59,000 won (roughly $53).

LG G2 QuickWindow cases unveiled ahead of flagship handset’s launch [UPDATE]

LG‘s upcoming flagship handset, the LG G2, has had its launch date etched in stone for August 7, with the announcement by LG following months of leaks that have shown off the handset in many iterations. Now ahead of this launch, the maker has unveiled a series of several colorful QuickWindow cases for its flagship offering.

LG_G2_QUICK_WINDOW-02

As the name suggests, the QuickWindow cases have a small window near the top, leaving a small portion of the display exposed while covering the rest of it. This allows most of the display to be protected by the case, but also facilitates using the smartphone without opening the case. This is achieved using a “light” finger swipe, pulling up the QuickWindow UX window.

The QuickWindow UX displays select information when triggered, such as a weather report, clock, music player, alarm clock, text messages, and information about a call being received. The case will be available in black, white, purple, pink, yellow, blue, and mint. A price hasn’t been set for the cases yet, but LG says they will be made available for purchase at the same time the G2 launches.

LG Electronics’ President and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park said: “LG’s newest premium accessory delivers practical and stylish options while protecting the smartphone, which for many consumers is a significant investment. Our smartphone designers have in mind the type of case they’d like to see on their designs. So it made a lot of sense for LG designers to share with our customers their vision of the perfect accessory.”

According to the leaks that have surfaced thus far, the LG G2 will feature a 5.2-inch display, and inside will host a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz processor with 2GB of RAM. Around back, users will reportedly find a 13-megapixel camera, with the software said to be Jelly Bean 4.2.2. As always, we’ll have all the official details for you next month, so stay tuned!

[UPDATE] LG has posted a video (in Korean) showing what you could do with the LG G2 QuickWindow case, watch the video below!

LG G2 QuickWindow case revealed ahead of phone's unveiling

The curtains on the LG G2 won’t be pulled back until August 7th, but that hasn’t stopped the South Korean firm from announcing a case for the smartphone. Dubbed QuickWindow, the sheath sports a slot on its front that reveals a portion of the device’s screen à la Samsung’s S View Cover. Just slide a finger against the exposed display and a special QuickView UI will light up the area with incoming call details, text messages, a clock, weather report, alarm or music player. Though a release date for the G2 is still MIA, the case is set to launch alongside the phone in black, blue, mint, pink, purple, white and yellow. In a world filled with case leaks for unannounced hardware, we can’t help but feel strange seeing a bonafide cover before we’ve officially laid eyes on the device it’s made for.
