Logitech Bluetooth Speakers Z600

Logitech has been a pretty long standing name when it comes to computer peripherals, whether you settle for a keyboard or a mouse, Logitech has got your back covered. Granted, Logitech does not deal so much in gaming peripherals although they did roll out a bunch of gaming devices before, but would rather concentrate on the home and office segments. Speakers, however, have been one of Logitech’s strong suit in the past, and they seem to continue the rich tradition in this niche market with the introduction of the Logitech Bluetooth Speakers Z600.

Just what can you expect from the Logitech Bluetooth Speakers Z600? They have been described to be an elegantly designed pair of wireless stereo speakers which will complement the sleek good looks of Mac and Ultrabook machines, be they at home or at the office. After all, these speakers do not discriminate against the kind of operating system you run, but rather, it will focus on delivering the best possible audio quality that your money can buy in that range – all sans them pesky wires that seem to have a life of their own, getting all tangled up whenever you are not looking.

In fact, you can connect up to three different devices to the Logitech Bluetooth Speakers Z600 simultaneously, and in order to switch between them, it is a simple matter of pressing pause on one and play on the other. I would say that Logitech has positioned their Bluetooth Speakers Z600 to be a well balanced offering, carefully navigating through the waters of gaming, listening to your favorite artists, or even watching the latest blockbusters that you have rented. Each speaker carries three drivers that have been specially engineered to provide superior acoustics for any space.

You also have to appreciate the design effort that went in to keep everything looking clean, where the top panel of the right speaker is a smooth and responsive touch disc which will let you dial the volume up or down through a simple glide of a finger around the edge. Expect to pick up the Logitech Bluetooth Speakers Z600 from next month onwards at $149.99 a pop.

Logitech Z600 Bluetooth speakers unveiled with multi-device connectivity

Logitech has taken the wraps off its new Z600 Bluetooth speakers, which it is specifically aiming at those with ultrabooks and Mac computers with its design, though they’ll work with any device with Bluetooth. The speakers support connection with multiple devices at the same time, allowing the user to toggle between those devices by pausing one audio stream and firing up another.

The feature is particularly useful for those who commonly use a couple different devices, with the Z600 being able to connect to up to three at the same time. One who prefers to use the speakers with a computer, for example, but prefers to stream music over a smartphone can connect both, then use them over the speakers without messing with the connection by simply playing one while the other is paused.

Said Logitech’s Global Vice President of Brand Development and Portfolio for PC Accessories: “The Logitech Bluetooth Speakers Z600 were designed to resemble an object of art using shapes, materials, and colors that meld with the modern living space and complement the look of ultra-thin laptops. And with built-in Bluetooth connectivity, a first for Logitech multimedia speakers, these speakers are ideal for today’s wireless, multi-device lifestyle.”

Each of the speakers feature 3 drivers, and controls are taken care of via a touch panel located on the top of the right unit. Turning the volume up and down, for example, is achieved by running a finger along the edge of the panel. The rest is located in the back of the speaker, such as the standard 3.5 mm input, the power button, and the Bluetooth pairing feature.

The Bluetooth transceiver is USB for those with a computer that doesn’t have wifi, and the 3.5 mm jack allows for wired connections to devices. The wires were designed so that they lay flat between and from the two speakers, reducing visual clutter and helping to avoid tangled messes. The speakers are slated for launch next month, and are priced at $150 USD.

Logitech's new Z600 Bluetooth speakers cost $150, let you connect up to three devices at once

A simple, virtual stroll through the internet would easily convey that Bluetooth speakers aren’t the hot item they once were. Still, who would complain about having a vast amount of options to choose from? The latest set comes by way of Logitech with the Z600, a pair of Bluetooth 2.0 sound blasters capable of being connected to up to three devices simultaneously — the company says it’s as easy as pressing pause on one and play on another to switch between them. The Z600’s sleek looks are complemented by three undisclosed drivers in each speaker and touch volume controls; there are also a couple of alternatives to Bluetooth as well, including a 3.5mm audio jack and USB transceiver. Logitech will be putting these on shelves across the US and Europe next month for $149.99, but if you’re interested you can pre-order them now from the source below.

3D-Printed Cover + Standard Logitech Mouse = The Infinitely Customizable Mouse

Gaming peripherals, while pricey, are quite durable and full of features that even the sternest desk-jockey can appreciate. Recently, I saw a couple of LED-powered keyboards that had me drooling, since they lit up very brightly to highlight gaming keys. The Mad Catz RAT has always been an extremely good mouse for gaming, since it allowed you to get the perfect shape for your hands. If you don’t like to buy off-the-shelf peripherals like these, then check out this 3D-printed alternative.

Granted, the Statial mouse housing costs a lot more than I expected, but if you can get similar functionality to a higher priced mouse, then you’re still winning. The Statial is a cover that will turn any Logitech M100 mouse into an adjustable alternative. Each section of the Statial cover can be adjusted to fit the form of your hand. The Statial was designed by Pyott Design.

Unfortunately, the $69.99 price tag for the shell on Shapeways makes this kind of a non-starter, since you can buy gaming mice with more functionality for the same total price. Still, if you’ve got the blueprints and a 3D printer, you can always print your own custom mouse cover.

Harmony Ultimate and Smart Hub review: Logitech outdoes itself with new remotes

Harmony Ultimate and Smart Hub review: Logitech outdoes itself with new remotes

Until now, Logitech’s Harmony line has been the name in programmable remotes. Now the company’s back with three follow-up products, and they differ enough from earlier models to warrant an explanation. Instead of using a programmable IR remote, the Harmony Ultimate, Harmony Smart Control and Harmony Ultimate Hub each offload the IR-emitting duties to a networked device, allowing smartphones and tablets to act as remotes too. Additionally, the Hub uses Bluetooth to control your game console. Ranging in price from $99 to $349, the lineup covers almost every budget, with the Hub sold as a standalone accessory for smartphones and tablets. Meanwhile, the Smart Control includes a simple remote, and the high-end Ultimate Hub swaps a basic remote for the Harmony Touch. How exactly might these enhance your home theater enjoyment? Read on to find out.
