Nokia Lumia 1020 One Of The Top 3 Selling Smartphones On AT&T, According To Analyst

Nokia Lumia 1020 One Of The Top 3 Selling Smartphones On AT&T, According To Analyst

Nokia’s Lumia 520 is an entry-level Windows Phone device with decent hardware specifications and an attractive price tag, which is why it is not surprising in an article by the Financial Post by analyst company, Canaccord Genuity, it was basically echoed as to how the Lumia 520 was one of the devices that helped improve Windows Phone 8 smartphone sales. However interestingly enough, the article has found that the Nokia Lumia 1020, Nokia’s most expensive smartphone to date, is doing pretty well as well.

They found that based on August retail checks that the Nokia Lumia 1020 was actually one of the top 3 selling smartphones on AT&T’s network. According to analyst T. Michael Walkley, “We believe Microsoft has recently worked more in concert with Nokia to drive sales, as evidenced by Microsoft’s advertising campaign highlighting the Lumia smartphones and features, and the Nokia 1020 is a top 3 selling smartphone at AT&T.” That is pretty surprising indeed! It is understandable that the Lumia 520 with its attractive price tag would be a hot seller, but what do you guys think? Are you surprised that the Lumia 1020, despite its price, is actually considered to be one of the top 3 selling smartphones on AT&T?

Legendary Photographers To Exhibit Photos Taken With Nokia’s Lumia 1020

Legendary Photographers To Exhibit Photos Taken With Nokias Lumia 1020When it comes to taking great photos, granted your equipment does play a factor, but it is also how you use your equipment, find the right settings, and most importantly, how you compose the picture, which is why it is not completely ludicrous that Nokia has given the Lumia 1020 smartphone to two world famous photographers, Bruce Weber and David Bailey, who will soon be displaying the images captured on their phones in an exhibition at the Nicholls & Clarke Building in London on the 13th of September. Nokia Lumia 1020 Ad Pokes Fun At The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom

Nokia Lumia 1020 Ad Pokes Fun At The Samsung Galaxy S4 ZoomIn the past we’ve seen ads from Nokia and Microsoft that makes fun of other devices and platforms, and it looks like there are no plans to stop anytime soon, as you can see in the photo above. The image above was snapped over in the UK where Samsung has placed a huge billboard ad for its Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom smartphone, and positioned right next to the billboard is a truck with Nokia’s own advertisement on it for the Nokia Lumia 1020, and with both devices touting their camera abilities, we guess this little advertising war does make sense.

Nokia’s ad pokes fun at the Galaxy S4 Zoom, claiming that they “didn’t see this coming”, and making fun at how the Lumia 1020 is able to offer up “exceptional zoom without the exceptional bulk”. We have to agree with the ad because while the Galaxy S4 Zoom does pack some pretty impressive hardware, its camera portion does seem a little bulky and the whole affair feels more like a camera with phone abilities, rather than a phone with great camera abilities. What do you guys think? Do you agree that the Lumia 1020’s camera is better than the Galaxy S4 Zoom?

Nokia Lumia 1020 heading to Canada on TELUS and Rogers

The camera-centric Nokia Lumia 1020, bearer of a 41-megapixel camera, will be arriving for Canadian customers on TELUS and Rogers, according to a tweet Nokia fired off saying as much. Other pertinent details — namely how much it will cost and when it will available — weren’t specified, but we’re hoping it won’t be too […]

Nokia Lumia 1020 VS Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom

It has become a trend lately where companies are starting to push out devices with pretty insane cameras on them, and by that we’re talking about the cameras being the primary focus as opposed to the phone itself. Nokia has done that with their Lumia 1020, and Samsung has also recently introduced the Galaxy S4 Zoom, which looks more like a camera than a phone. Either way we’re sure many are wondering which device performs better, at least in photography, and 28Mobile has posted a video review where they basically pit the Nokia Lumia 1020’s camera against the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.

While both devices had their hits and misses, the review ultimately favored the Nokia Lumia 1020, but then again we expect this will boil down to personal preference, and issues such as price, operating system, and hardware specifications will play a role as well. In any case if you have some time to spare, check out our review of the Lumia 1020 for additional details, or you can watch the video above to get a comparison and demonstration of either phone’s camera abilities.

    Nokia Lumia 1020 Wood Edition

Nokia Lumia 1020 Wood EditionThe Moto X from Motorola is said to arrive with a wooden back cover sometime in the fourth quarter of the year, but fans who want to fly the Nokia flag high do not want to miss out on such a “feature” as well in Nokia’s most recent flagship, which is why a bunch of hardcore fans of the Finnish smartphone manufacturer have banded together to roll out a wood edition of the Nokia Lumia 1020.

A Chinese forum claimed that the wooden Nokia Lumia 1020 that you see above is actually a wedding invitation between a couple, where wood is used as the medium of “communication”, where it has been specially engraved with the design of the Nokia Lumia 1020. Even more interesting is the addition of Live Tiles to the mix, now how about that? To make matters sweeter, the wedding date itself in addition to other details concerning the wedding have been engraved on the Live Tiles of the wood, and with this, perhaps we might see future designs such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 or iPhone 5 feature such invitations. What are some of the more creative ways that you have used to make sure that your artistic flair is displayed for all and sundry to see in tech glory?

Microsoft Compensates Delayed Lumia 1020 With $150 Gift Card (Rumor)

Microsoft Compensates Delayed Lumia 1020 With $150 Gift Card (Rumor)The AT&T-bound Nokia Lumia 1020 is certainly the best high end Windows Phone 8 device in the market at this point in time, there is no denying it. Some folks from China have even managed to get their hands on one of these bad boys, taking it apart and snapping all the innards along the way. While it is deemed to be a “camera first” smartphone by Nokia themselves, there has been reported instances of of early color accuracy issues which remain to be looked into. The thing is, for those whose order for the Nokia Lumia 1020 has been delayed via the Microsoft store, here is some news that should lighten up your day – it apparently will be accompanied by a complimentary $150 gift card. Definitely a piece of news which will bring a smile to your face, no? Whoever said that good things do not come to those who wait?

Of course, this particular bit of information was gleaned by an email screenshot which could have easily been doctored, so we do not have concrete confirmation on the situation just yet since we ourselves did not place an order for the Lumia 1020 over at the Microsoft Store. Could any of our dear readers verify whether such an email by Microsoft stating the compensation is in circulation?

    Nokia Lumia 1020 Teardown Image

Nokia Lumia 1020 Teardown ImageNokia’s Lumia 1020 has been touted by the Finnish smartphone manufacturers themselves to be a “camera first” device, and phone second. Well, you cannot help but notice that the Nokia Lumia 1020 flagship smartphone is one impressive piece of hardware engineering. Definitely offering improvements in different ways compared to its predecessor, the Nokia Lumia 920, it is the impressive 41-megapixel Pureview camera sensor that undoubtedly is the talk of the smartphone world, and when you throw in double the amount of RAM while retaining all of the connectivity features with a shrinking of measurements in some parts that will see approximately 30 grams of its overall weight shed, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is definitely more than a looker, and it might be a fantastic introductory Windows Phone 8 device.

Do check out an image of the teardown above, where the rest of it can be spotted from a Chinese site. Hopefully the alleged early color accuracy issues will not hinder purchases by potential customers.

AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020 hits carrier website, in stores later today

As scheduled, AT&T and Nokia have launched the Lumia 1020 this morning on AT&T’s website. It currently lists the device as only being available online, but the phone will be available in AT&T stores later today. The 1020 is Nokia’s latest flagship smartphone, sporting a 41-megapixel camera as its main feature.

The Lumia 1020 was put up for pre-order on the 16th, but if you didn’t end up reserving your own unit, it looks like you still may have some luck, as AT&T’s website isn’t listing the device as sold out yet. You’ll have your choice of color as well, as long as your favorite color is either yellow, black, or white.

The phone is priced at $299 after signing a new two-year contract (or $660 off-contract), which is quite a bit for a new smartphone even considering its revolutionary camera technology on the inside, which makes it one of the more expensive on-contract phones to own currently. However, if the 41MP camera is reeling you in, you should have no reason not to take the bait.

On top of the 1020′s 41MP camera, the device packs in a 4.5-inch display with a 1280×768 resolution. On the inside, there’s a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. And of course, topping it all off is a fresh copy of Windows Phone 8.
