2013 Mac Pro Shipping Estimates Slip Yet Again

2013 Mac Pro Shipping Estimates Slip Yet Again

Last month the Apple U.S. online store estimated shipping for 2013 Mac Pro in April. Supply seems to be tight ever since the new Mac Pro was released late last year. Apple did manage to get it out in December but since then shipping times have slipped greatly. Even on the launch day itself the shipping estimates slipped into February. Now the online store lists shipping availability between 5-6 weeks, pushing deliveries well into May.

128GB RAM Kit For The Mac Pro Will Cost Over $2,000

128GB RAM Kit For The Mac Pro Will Cost Over $2,000When Apple launched the Mac Pro, they claimed that the computer would be able to support up to 64GB of RAM. For the average user and even the hardcore gamer, 64GB of RAM is more than plenty, in fact one could even argue that for the average consumer, going beyond 16GB might be a little excessive.

However as the Mac Pro was not designed for the average consumer, but aimed at professionals who might need the power to render graphics, edit movies, and produce songs, there might be times when 64GB of RAM might just not be enough. (more…)

Boot Camp For Mac Pro Will Only Support Windows 8 Or HigherIf you’re planning on getting your hands on the Apple’s brand new Mac Pro and were thinking about dual booting both OS X and Windows thanks to the Boot Camp software, you might want to take note that for the Mac Pro, Boot Camp will only support the installation of Windows 8 or later.

Some Early Mac Pro Orders Delayed Until March

Some Early Mac Pro Orders Delayed Until MarchAfter teasing the new Mac Pro at WWDC 2013, Apple finally released the computer towards the end of 2013. While the new Mac Pro boasted a brand new and very unique design that was packed with powerful hardware, it seems that the demand for the computers could be higher than what Apple had anticipated as they were having difficulty keeping up with demand.

We have seen shipping times slip to February and April for those who were a little slow in placing their orders, but now according to reports, it seems that Apple will be delaying some early Mac Pro orders until March, meaning that some customers who bothered to place their order early can only expect their new Mac Pros next week at the earliest. Mac Pro Shipping Estimates Slip To April

Mac Pro Shipping Estimates Slip To AprilApple’s new Mac Pro was launched in December 2013 but thanks to production issues, customers looking to get their hands on the new computers would have to wait. Last we heard, shipping times slipped to March and now according to reports, it seems that if you wanted a new Mac Pro, you’d have to wait at least until April before you would be able to get it. The shipping times initially slipped to April for international releases, but it was shortly after that US shipping times also slipped to an estimated April release as well.

It is unclear as to why Apple is facing such long delays with its Mac Pro shipments, but presumably because it might have something to do with their new factory that was setup in Texas. The Mac Pro will be the first Apple computer in a while to be assembled in the US, so we’re guessing that there could be some kinks in the production that Apple has yet to iron out, versus other companies such as Foxconn who haven’t had much trouble putting Apple products together. Now the good news is that if you wanted a custom Mac Pro, the custom configuration does not delay your shipment any further, so thats something to be thankful for, right?
