Mac Pro Available For Pre-Order, Expected To Ship On 30th December

Mac Pro Available For Pre Order, Expected To Ship On 30th DecemberEarlier we had reported that the new Mac Pro from Apple would be finally going on sale come 19th of December, and this was following photos and reports of quotations by Apple’s business teams, all of which suggested that the computer could be released in the near future. Well the good news is that if you think that you could use a new Mac Pro to help further your career or help make life at work easier, you’ll be pleased to learn that pre-orders for the computer have gone live and for those who place their pre-orders today, they can expect their brand new computers to begin shipping on the 30th of December, meaning that they should arrive early January 2014.

For those looking at the bare basics of the Mac Pro, the quad-core model is priced at $2,999 and will ship with a 3.7GHz quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor with 12GB of RAM, dual AMD FirePro D300 GPUs, and 256GB of PCIe-based flash storage. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, the 6-core model will offer a 3.5GHz 6-core Intel Xeon E5 processor with 16GB of DDR3 RAM, dual AMD FirePro D500 GPUs, 256GB of PCIe-based flash storage, all of which can be had for $3,999.  Apple has also listed the Sharp 4K monitor for sale for an additional $3,595, suggesting that we might not be seeing an Apple-made 4K display anytime soon. So, any takers?

New Apple Mac Pro 2013 Available From Tomorrow

New Apple Mac Pro 2013 Available From Tomorrow

It has been a long time since the Mac Pro last received a major refresh, almost three years. Apple CEO Tim Cook first teased the revamped Mac Pro late last year, which cleared up doubts about the company actually axing the lineup altogether. Back at the WWDC 2013, Apple offered a little look into what it was working on, this is perhaps the most substantial update that the Mac Pro has ever received and fans of this lineup have anxiously been waiting for its release. It has finally been announced that the new Apple Mac Pro 2013 is going to be available for purchase from tomorrow, December 19th, 2013.

You will immediately notice the all new design, which was actually the subject of some hilarious illustrations. Don’t be fooled by its small size though, under the hood, the new Mac Pro touts the latest Intel Xeon processors, dual workstation class GPUs or graphics processing units, PCIe based flash storage and super fast ECC memory. The base 3.7GHZ quadcore Xeon E5 model with dual AMD FirePro D300 GPUs, 12GB memory and 256GB flash storage costs $2,999 whereas the 3.5GHz 6-core Xeon E5 model with dual AMD FirePro D500 GPUs, 16GB memory and 256GB flash storage costs $3,999. Customers have configure-to-order options, pricing for those models depends upon how much they’re willing to splurge. The new Apple Mac Pro 2013 goes on sale tomorrow through the company’s brick and mortar stores, authorized resellers and its online store.

Apple’s highly-anticipated (and most powerful) desktop machine, the Mac Pro, is scheduled to go on sale tomorrow.

Apple’s New Mac Pro Goes On Sale Dec. 19 Online And In Retail Starting At $2,999

    _93A3256.CR2

Apple has just announced that its new Mac Pro computer, featuring that signature ‘Darth Vader’ design, will be available for sale starting tomorrow, Thursday Dec. 19 beginning at $2,999. There’s another version with better specs for $3,999, and a number of custom order options that will vary the prices upwards from there.

Orders kick off tomorrow online through Apple’s official web-based store, as well as in retail stores and at authorized resellers, according to Apple’s official announcement, so conceivably we could see the first customers actually take theirs home tomorrow, though it’s much more likely that orders will kick off first with stock arriving at locations gradually over the next few days.

The $2,999 configuration of the Mac Pro features a 3.7GHz quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor, not one but two AMD FirePro D500 workstation GPUs with 2GB of dedicated RAM per unit, 12GB of system RAM and a 256 flash storage module. The $3,999 version boosts the processor to a 3.5GHz six-core version, provides 3GB of dedicated RAM to each of those workstation GPUs, 16GB of memory and 256GB of flash storage. Custom configurations allow for 8- or 12-core processors, AMD FirePro D700 GPUs with 6GB of RAM, a maximum of 64GB of system memory and up to 1TB of flash storage.

Apple first revealed the new Mac Pro back in June at its annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference. The sleek black cylindrical unity is assembled in the U.S., and features a design that maximizes cooling through a jet turbine-like system that funnels air through the top opening. It features an all-black aluminum enclosure, and comes in at under 10 inches tall. It dramatically reduces its size versus the previous version, and to do that, moves the modularity outside of the case thanks to six Thunderbolt 2 ports, as well as four USB 3.0 connections on the back. It can power up to three 4k displays, too, and also features two Gigabit Ethernet jacks and an HDMI 1.4 UltraHD out.

At Apple’s special event in October, we got the chance to go hands-on with the new Mac Pro, and found it to be incredibly silent while working, despite the amount of power contained under the hood. It features a number of impressive details like the back panel that automatically lights up when it detects the computer is being moved to help you see which ports are which, especially handy if you’re working in a darkened studio.

The price range of this new Mac Pro means that as its name implies, it’ll likely be most sought after by working pros who’ve been clinging to their aging silver aluminum models and holding out for something more, but it’s a device that shows Apple is still invested in its longtime bedrock of creative professionals. It’s also a demonstration device in terms of showcasing Apple’s hardware engineering, and a way for Apple to highlight its efforts to bring at least part of its manufacturing and assembly chain back home to the U.S. It’s definitely a machine we’re eager to test more extensively, and we’ll report back once we do.

New Mac Pros Spotted At Apple Store In The UK

New Mac Pros Spotted At Apple Store In The UKApple is expected to launch their new Mac Pro computers later this month, although they have not given us a specific release date yet, and given that we’re a little more than halfway through December, we’re sure some customers are starting to get a little worried. Well fret not because thanks to a photo taken in the Apple store in Bromley, UK, it seems that the Mac Pros have started to arrive in stores and are being put on display. The original tweet of the photo has since been taken down, but not before the rest of the world has managed to get their hands on the photo and saved it.

According to the person who tweeted the image, they claim that the Bromley store in the UK has only received 3 units so far, but more are expected later this week. Given the price of the Mac Pro and how it is targeted towards working professionals rather than the average Joe, we doubt the Mac Pro will be flying off the shelves unlike Apple’s other products, such as the iPhone and iPad.  The Mac Pro’s imminent launch has been speculated with Apple’s business team reaching out to enterprises and providing quotes, not to mention the listing of a 4K display which would also seem to signify the computer’s upcoming launch.

Apple Business Team Reportedly Offering Mac Pro Price Quotes, Could Be Released Soon

Apple Business Team Reportedly Offering Mac Pro Price Quotes, Could Be Released SoonApple teased their Mac Pro earlier this year at WWDC 2013, with a promise that the computer would be released later this year. In fact a recent sighting of a 4K Sharp display on Apple’s online website seemed to hint that the computer could be on its way, especially given that the new Mac Pro would have no problems support 4K monitors. Either way it would seem that we could be getting closer to a release date as there have been reports that Apple has been approaching businesses and offering them quotes on the Mac Pro and have reportedly become more proactive as of late.

According to the reports, Apple’s business team have been quoting prices of about $9,700 for a maxed-out Mac Pro, while others have been quoted around $4,464 for a build-to-order model which is supposedly slightly cheaper than the retail pricing if it were to be bought by a regular consumer. According to one particular report, the user claims that the Apple business sales team rep told them that the price quote would be available by Monday, the 16th of December, which we’re not sure if it means that it will be available for the public, or if it simply means that the quote will be given to him on the 16th.

Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more information regarding the Mac Pro’s release, so be sure to check back with us at a later date for the details.

Why Apple’s 2013 promises bigger things for 2014

Apple had a somewhat strong year in 2013. The company showed off the iPad Air, unveiled a new iPad mini with a Retina display, and its upcoming Mac Pro might just be the most impressive desktop the company has ever launched. And as its revenue showed during the period, customers seemed to like what the […]

German Retailer Accepting Mac Pro Pre-Orders Set For 16th December Release

German Retailer Accepting Mac Pro Pre Orders Set For 16th December ReleaseEarlier this year at WWDC 2013, Apple took the wraps off their brand new Mac Pro which featured a rather interesting design, but we suppose it was a welcome update as the previous generation Mac Pro had not been updated in quite a while. The computer has been scheduled for a release at the end of the year, but Apple has not given a specific release date yet, leaving many to wonder if they might be able to expect it in time for Christmas, or perhaps in time for New Year’s Eve. Well according to a German retailer, Conrad Electronic, they have started to take pre-orders for the new Mac Pro and have given it a release date set for the 16th of December.

We’re not sure why they would think it’s the 16th, but so far we have heard multiple dates being tossed around. For example French website, MacGeneration, mentioned that the Mac Pro would see a launch on the 18th of December, while there have also been reports of the 13th of December being a possible date as well. Since none of this is official information, do take it with a grain of salt for now. It has been speculated that Apple is trying to delay the launch as much as possible (within reason, of course) due to Intel’s Ivy Bridge-EP processors experiencing relatively slow production. Either way our eyes and ears will be peeled for an official date, so check back with us later for the details.

Mac Pro debut details leaked in Germany

The German retailer Conrad Electronics has started taking pre-orders and posted an availability date for the Mac Pro, and it’s Dec. 16. But hold your horses. We don’t know if that’s an inside scoop or if the retailer is just rolling the dice and hoping for the best. Apple hasn’t announced a specific release date […]
