If you listened with your eyes closed, you’d think this was just a video of someone playing Super Mario Bros on a vintage Nintendo. But there’s not a controller in sight. Just 48 wine glasses and a frying pan. Dan Newbie of YouTube, you’re a maestro of the kitchen.
What do you do when you’ve played all of the Mario games and beaten them? The music is now rattling around your brain, and there’s nothing left to play. You start playing the theme song, that’s what you do. You get yourself 48 wine glasses and you start your musical career. That’s apparently what YouTuber Dan Newbie has done.
Watch him perform the Super Mario Bros. theme using 48 wine glasses, two pencils and a frying pan. The guy is crazy. Crazy awesome. Are those glasses filled with wine? No, just water. It really sounds great. This guy is a master at the frying pan by the way. I’ve never seen such mastery of a cooking instrument. And his pencil work is masterful.
Awesome job, Dan. I would definitely buy the album.

Here’s a worthy weapon to bring to a pillow fight, an officially-licensed Thwomp pillow. If you’re wondering why Nintendo would bother releasing a merchandise for a semi-living obstacle, remember that in some Mario games these dudes are flat out invincible. If they could move Bowser wouldn’t be king.
You can order the Thwomp pillow from ThinkGeek for about $35 (USD) or from Amazon for $25. Or you could always just paint a cinder block and sit on that instead.
Despite Nintendo not exactly being in the forefront when it comes to selling consoles at the moment, the company’s contributions to the gaming industry are well-known as they have provided us with popular and iconic games like Mario and its various iterations. Well the good news is that if you were looking forward to a new Mario game, Nintendo has recently confirmed that a new Mario game is in the works.
Unfortunately Nintendo was unable to confirm if the game is coming onto the Nintendo 3DS handheld console or if it will be destined for the Wii U instead. According to the game’s producer, Yoshiaki Koizumi when asked about which platform it would be released on, he said, “That’s still a secret. I can tell you, though, that we’ve already started approaching our next challenge.”
However the game’s team leader, Kenta Motokura seemed to hint that perhaps it could be for the Wii U because he mentioned that if it were released for the Wii U, the game might take advantage of the GamePad to help enhance the gameplay. In any case we guess we might have to wait a while until we learn more about the new Mario game, so until then stay tuned for more updates!

If you have ever wondered what it would be like if Mario jumped out of your console and ran around your house, check out the video below. It is just as cool as you thought it would be. Just be prepared for some damage to your home.
This video by YouTuber Jhoofnail shows us what it would be like, and also that you really don’t want to unleash Big Bullet Bill in the real world. That guy can cause some serious mayhem if he gets out of the house.
If this ever happens to you, just remember, it could have been worse. Bowser could have shown up and completely wrecked your house just by moving his tail trying to hit Mario.

Ever wonder what Super Mario does when he’s not running across your screen kicking Koopa Troopas? Filmmaker John Huffnagle shows us what everyone’s favorite plumber might do if left alone in your house. Long story short: Don’t let Mario out of your sight.
Reading a map is not an ability that everybody attains naturally, some will have to put in a fair amount of effort, while others, for the life of them, simply cannot “get it”. Is there a way to “cure” this condition? Possibly, and we are pleased as punch to report that the proverbial medicine required will not be a bitter pill to swallow. In a study that was carried out at Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin, Germany, a number of women played Super Mario 64 for two months and saw their map-reading skills improve, not to mention ending up with additional grey matter.

A Slow Day in Afghanistan
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhat do you do when you are deployed in Afghanistan and you have way too much down time? Sounds like a good problem to have in Afghanistan. Well, Redditor b3tarded is there and made the most of his or her downtime by creating a Mario mural. They could have read books, or slept, or got into some trouble. Instead they created a great piece of geek art.
The scene included pipes, bricks and even the timer. They did a pretty good job, given the limited resources on hand. It likely also helped to cheer up a bunch of other soldiers.
You are a true geek sir or madam. Awesome job.

Nintendo’s “enhanced remake” of the legendary N64 launch title Super Mario 64 was a Nintendo DS port that added new characters, game modes and more. With his remake, YouTuber Aryoksini is going to improve at least one aspect of the game: its graphics.
Aryoksini is remaking Super Mario 64 using Blender, an open source 3D animation suite that has a built-in game engine. He has a long way to go – and that’s if Nintendo allows him to go on – and makes it clear that the video you see below shouldn’t reflect the finished game.
Keep an eye on Aryoksini’s YouTube channel for future updates. Nintendo’s lawyers You can also watch him work on the game on his Twitch channel.
