You may or may not be familiar with the art form called quilling. Quilling is created using strips of paper rolled up or curved to create images. An artist named Alia Syed has taken the art of quilling to a very geeky next level. Syed has used quilling to create art in the form of Marvel and Star Wars characters.

If you look at the artworks up close you’ll see strips of paper and rolled up pieces that work in conjunction to create very cool and detailed pieces of art. Among the creations are Darth Vader, Boba Fett and a stormtrooper.

There also Batman and Iron Man artworks as well as the Decepticon and Autobot logos and Master Chief’s helmet from Halo. I wonder how long it took to do each of these paper sculptures – it looks like it must have taken a lot of work.

Marvel Entertainment and Disney Consumer Products have announced they have teamed up to launch a fun new device – the Marvel Creativity Studio Stylus and app. The app and stylus are exclusively for the iPad and gives people who are fans of Marvel superheroes a place to learn how to draw, color, and animate their favorite superheroes and villains.

You can draw and color superheroes and villains from Avengers Assemble, The Ultimate Spider-Man, and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. Features of the app and stylus include professionally illustrated coloring pages allowing users to decorate their favorite characters with painting tools and an extensive color palette. The styles can be used to unlock the “Reveal” tool which lets you color images like the pros.

The app also features special touches so artists of all levels can successfully learn how to draw these characters including a side-by-side drawing canvas, trace lines, and a Drawing Scope feature. Users can also build and animate action scenes using character stickers, sound effects, speech bubbles, and backgrounds. Custom stickers can also be added to the animated scenes. The stylus is available with a limited-edition zippered case exclusively at Apple Stores for $34.99(USD). The app itself is free, and is available here.

With kids these days getting access to tablets and smartphones at such an early age, companies are starting to turn towards creating apps and accessories for kids designed to be used together with said devices and if you’re a parent looking for something new for your kids to do, or if you’re simply a fan of Marvel comics, then perhaps the Marvel Creativity Studio Stylus might be worth checking out. The stylus along with its accompanying app for the iPad, will allow kids to draw and animate a variety of Marvel superheroes. If you’re a Spider-Man fan, then chances are that your Spidey senses are already tingling and your wallet already open now that you’ve seen this sweet helmet. This Spider-Man helmet is painted up super nice to look exactly like our favorite web-slinger. Doesn’t it look amazing?

It comes in the traditional red style and the villainous black version. So how much does it cost to zip down the road looking like Spidey? It sells for $525 to to $825(USD) depending on the helmet, from airgraffix, who sells all sorts of cool custom helmets. Sure, it’s an expensive helmet, but it’s not like Spidey spent that much on his costume to begin with.
