Robot Exoskeleton Allows 4-Year Old Girl Work Her Arms

Robot Exoskeleton Allows 4 Year Old Girl Work Her Arms Exoskeletons used to be the stuff of dreams, where my first exposure to an exoskeleton was when Ellen Ripley went mano a mano with the Alien Queen. Over the years, however, technology has advanced to such a degree that it might feature in our day-to-day lives. After all, one can already rent the Honda Walking Assist Exoskeleton in Japan, and for four-year old Hannah Mohn, it is a robot exoskeleton that has literally given her a new lease of life, enabling this little girl to lift her arms when she was previously unable to do so.

Selfies Considered To Be A Mental Disorder, According To American Psychiatric Association

Selfies Considered To Be A Mental Disorder, According To American Psychiatric AssociationBefore the “selfie” term was coined, many people were already figuring out ways to take photos of themselves, whether it be with digital cameras, smartphones, or even film cameras back in the day. Safe to say “selfies” aren’t exactly new per se. However with the term having been officially coined, it seems that there is now a mental disorder associated with it as well.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, the act of taking a selfie can be considered a mental disorder. The disorder has been labeled selfitis and is defined as an obsessive compulsive desire to take photos of oneself and publish it onto social media, like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and so on. Grush, Connected Toothbrush with Games

    Grush, Connected Toothbrush with Games
Another day, another connected toothbrush… the Grush one is slightly different from Kolibree, the first electrical connected toothbrush, because it will feature a few games at launch and it is not electrical. Note that the Kolibree team talked about adding games in the future but we have not seen one yet. For now, Grush is merely an early stage prototype that has been developed by cofounders Ethan Daniel Schur and Dr. Yong-Jing Wang.

Lab-Made Muscle Boasts Of Self-Repairing Capability

Lab Made Muscle Boasts Of Self Repairing CapabilityNothing quite like a literal lab rat to showcase the latest in medical developments, is there? Duke University researchers have successfully created living skeletal muscle that pretty much resembles the real deal, all the way down to the ability to repair itself. This unique self-healing artificial muscle would mean the days of growing muscles in a science lab that actually function as intended are going to be propelled into even deeper levels of research, after numerous failed attempts. The answer to previous failures? Ensuring that the artificial muscle has its fair supply of muscle stem cells.

Smart Patch Could Monitor And Treat Parkinson’s Disease

Smart Patch Could Monitor And Treat Parkinson’s DiseaseThe use of patches in medicine is far from a new idea, where it has been implemented in the past such as this flu vaccine with varying degrees of success, depending on the kind of disease or ailment that treats. Scientists at Seoul National University have developed a new smart patch which claims to be able to monitor as well as potentially treat Parkinson’s disease, and this bit of news would certainly be more than welcome to caregivers as Parkinson’s disease patients can be quite taxing on the caregiver at times.
