MetroPCS’ Network To Be Decommissioned By End Of 2014

MetroPCS Network To Be Decommissioned By End Of 2014Back in 2013, T-Mobile finalized their acquisition of MetroPCS, a smaller carrier based in the US as well. Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Heading For MetroPCS 25th November

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Heading For MetroPCS 25th NovemberWhile the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 might not necessarily be Samsung’s largest phone in their portfolio at the moment, it is possibly their highest specced and most expensive so far. Well the good news is that if you wanted a large screen device but didn’t want to fork out for the Galaxy Note 3, you’re in luck because MetroPCS has announced that they will be offering up the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 starting from the 25th of November. Subscribers will be able to get their hands on the device for $349 after a $100 rebate, and an additional $50 rebate if they were to buy it in the store, making the device a somewhat affordable large screen handset if you did not want to be tied to a contract.

The handset will be pretty much the same device as the one we reviewed earlier this year, meaning that customers can look forward to a 6.3” 720p HD display. This large screen coupled with the HD resolution means that pixel density will not be as sharp as the Galaxy Note 3’s Full HD, but it’s a matter of preference and also budget. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and will come with 8GB of onboard storage with support for microSD card memory expansion. It will pack a 3,200mAh battery, and will sport an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.9MP front-facing camera, and will come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean preinstalled.

Samsung Galaxy Mega coming to MetroPCS on November 25th, for $399 at launch

Samsung’s other behemoth of a smartphone, the Galaxy Mega, is most definitely not one of the newest on the block. Still, we can’t imagine why MetroPCS users would complain about having yet another Android device to choose from. Starting November 25th, the carrier is making the 6.3-inch handset available on its network, complete with LTE support (where available) and a $399 price tag at launch. It’s worth mentioning that the MSRP is actually $499, but in the spirit of the holidays, MetroPCS is marking it at $100 less to kick things off — new customers, meanwhile, can get it for as low as $349. You’ll be able to snag one for yourself online or from the nearest brick-and-mortar store — if big, really big smartphones are your thing, that is.

Huawei Vitria Spotted For MetroPCS By @evleaks

Huawei Vitria Spotted For MetroPCS By @evleaksThe folks over at @evleaks have done it yet again, as they snagged what seems to be a press shot – both the front and the back, of the Huawei Vitria smartphone. It will obviously be an Android-powered device from what we can tell, since the front snapshot shows off the classic Google search bar, and more importantly, the Play Store icon that is located on the bottom right hand corner of the display.

At the back we see a camera lens of unknown megapixel count that is accompanied by a flash, although whether this is an LED flash or not, it remains to be seen. There is the metroPCS branding at the back of the handset, which is accompanied by a splatter of “4G” at the bottom, just so you know that you are able to rock on to next generation wireless speeds whenever you are on the move – subject to signal availability, of course. All in all, the Huawei Vitria does seem as though it is shaping up to be a decent mid-range smartphone, so do not expect this to make it to the top of many peoples’ wish lists when it finally hits the market. All we need to do now is sit tight and wait for an official announcement.

Samsung Freeform M Headed For MetroPCS

Samsung Freeform M Headed For MetroPCSMetroPCS is one of the lesser known mobile service providers in the US, and it is definitely not one of the big four (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile in no particular order of importance or rank), but this does not mean that they do not carry smartphones for the masses to use – albeit most of their smartphones on offer tend to be on the entry level or mid-range scheme of things. Today, Samsung has shared details concerning the Samsung SGH-T189N, which is also known as the Freeform M, which will be headed in the direction of MetroPCS.

Just what kind of hardware will the Samsung Freeform M pack? For starters, this will be a QWERTY-equipped feature phone, where you will find an extremely basic – nah, some would even say on the verge of extinction, 2.4” display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and a 2-megapixel camera that can handle video recording on the side. Other hardware specifications include a microSD memory card slot, alongside the ability to run on T-Mobile’s GSM network. Connectivity options include GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, with a 1,000mAh Lithium Ion battery keeping it going. There is no word on pricing or availability as at press time though.
