Microsoft Not Satisfied With NSA Reforms, Will Keep Working To Make More Changes

Microsoft Not Satisfied With NSA Reforms, Will Keep Working To Make More ChangesPresident Obama recently announced that there would changes made to the NSA. Some of these changes included the way data was collected, and also how they would stop spying on their allies, just to name a few. It sounded like a good compromise, but it seems that not everyone agrees or was satisfied with the changes that were made, and Microsoft is one of the companies that aren’t too happy about it, as outlined on their blog by their General Counsel & Executive Vice President of Legal & Corporate Affairs, Brad Smith.

According to Smith, he believes that more work needs to be done and stated that they will continue working with the current administration and Congress to make reforms that are consistent with their principles as outlined in December last year when the leaders of major tech companies met up with Obama to discuss the issues. “We appreciate the steps the President announced, which represent positive progress on key issues including privacy protections for non-U.S. citizens. There is more work to do to define some of the details and additional steps that are needed, so we’ll continue to work with both the administration and Congress to advocate for reforms consistent with the principles our industry outlined in December.”

Apple Falls Behind Sony, Samsung, Microsoft In Customer Satisfaction Survey

Apple Falls Behind Sony, Samsung, Microsoft In Customer Satisfaction SurveyWhen it comes to a company that makes you happy, which is it? Apple? Microsoft? Sony? Samsung? Well in the latest customer satisfaction survey, it has been found that Apple actually placed fourth in Forrester Research’s customer satisfaction survey. Based on the numbers, Sony actually took the lead with a score of 83, followed Samsung and Microsoft who tied at 82, followed by Apple with a score of 81, all of which are admittedly pretty close to one another. However it seems that none of these companies managed to beat out the likes of Amazon who score around the 85 mark, which according to Forrester Research meant that the company had entered into “Excellent” territory.

Sony’s customer satisfaction has actually been on the rise since 2012, jumping by around 10 points from two years ago. Both Samsung and Microsoft were rebounding from short dips and while Apple has been on the rise over the past year, it seems that they weren’t growing enough in the customer satisfaction department to beat out their rivals, Samsung, Microsoft, and Sony, and the way the graph is depicted, it looks like Apple will keep getting beat out by the rest unless something drastic happens, either on their end or on the end of the competition. In the meantime what do you guys think? Do you agree with the findings?

Syrian Electronic Army Hacks Microsoft’s Office Blog

Syrian Electronic Army Hacks Microsoft’s Office BlogMicrosoft seems to be on the receiving end of the wrath of the Syrian Electronic Army recently, where their news Twitter accounts fell victim to. Apart from that, Microsoft’s Office Blog has been caught out by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) – and although the blog was defaced, it was quickly recovered by Microsoft. The screenshot above pointed to SEA putting out a bunch of posts that depicted how they have gained access to the blog, although many would not claim it to be a hack.

Microsoft To Announce New Xbox One Exclusives At E3 2014

Microsoft To Announce New Xbox One Exclusives At E3 2014When it comes to choosing consoles, there are a lot of factors that come into play, such as price, design, online features, and how can we forget exclusive games as well? Exclusives are sometimes enticing enough for a customer to purchase a particular platform. For example with Nintendo we have the Mario and Zelda franchise, just to name a few, and for Sony we have God of War, and for Microsoft we have games like Halo. Well the good news for Xbox One gamers is that if you were looking forward to more exclusive games arriving on the console, you’re in luck because it seems like Microsoft has a few exclusives up their sleeves for you.

In response to a question posed by a fan on Twitter who asked if Microsoft had more exclusives to show, Phil Spencer replied by saying, “We will have announces in 2014, already working on the plan.  I want to have a great E3 this year.” We already know that Halo 5 will be released later this year and that the game is on track, but apart from that we’re not too sure what other Xbox One exclusives Microsoft will have to share with us later this year at E3. Could it be something from Lionhead or Epic Games, perhaps? Either way the good news is that the console will be getting more exclusives, so be sure to check back with us later for more updates!

Surface 2 Tablets Back In Stock On Microsoft Store Website

Surface 2 Tablets Back In Stock On Microsoft Store Website

Last month it was reported that the online Microsoft Store had sold out of most Surface 2 tablets one week prior to Christmas. It was unclear why the company was struggling to meet demand, that too in a lucrative period such as the holiday season. Most models have actually been sold out online for a few weeks now, just one model of both Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablet was available during this time. It appears that Microsoft has now been able to ease up supply once again as most Surface 2 models are now back in stock.

Right now, customers can purchase the previously sold out 32GB and 64GB models of the Surface 2 tablets through the online Microsoft Store. 64GB Surface Pro 2 is back in stock with the 512GB model, but still the 128GB and 256GB models remain out of stock, so does the 32GB original Surface RT. When Microsoft was contacted late last year to elaborate on these apparent stock shortages, the company only said that it was actively working with its manufacturing teams to get Surface tablets in customers’ hands as soon as possible. It hasn’t revealed what exactly is the problem that’s keeping various Surface 2 models out of the online store. Those who have been waiting for any of the models mentioned above can head to the Microsoft Store website right now to purchase, who knows when they might run out of stock again.

HP Windows 7 PCs Are Back By ‘Popular Demand’

HP Windows 7 PCs Are Back By Popular Demand

Windows 8 wasn’t adopted as enthusiastically as Windows 7. The public has different opinions about the former, some dislike the touch UI and say that it shouldn’t have been introduced for desktop PCs, where some like the new UI changes that Microsoft has made. Microsoft might have relied upon OEM partners to push its latest Windows iteration through their products, which would definitely help in increasing adoption as well as shaping public opinion about Windows 8. However, HP has sided with the majority that favors Windows 7. The manufacturer says on the front page of its website that by “popular demand,” it has decided to bring back Windows 7 PCs.

HP hasn’t just brought back computers powered by Windows 7, it is actually offering an incentive to customers who opt for these PCs. Up to $150 in savings are being offered to customers who purchased a computer with the last-generation OS instead. This move by HP isn’t that surprising to be honest, with rumors circulating that internally Microsoft employees refer to Windows 8 as “the new Vista,” this was bound to happen at some point in time. We all know how badly Vista performed in the market. Recent rumors also suggest that Microsoft might talk about Windows 9 at its BUILD conference in April, with a possible release in April 2015. The company is reportedly looking to give up on the Windows 8 brand and start afresh.
