Poland is working with partners to create the tank of the future. The concept is called the PL-01 and it looks like something that you would pilot around in a … Continue reading
This is the PL-01 concept tank, a three-crew 35-ton tank that can turn itself invisible to infrared missiles thanks to a mesh of thermal tiles that change their temperature to match the environment. Oh, and it looks straight out of the world of Tron.
In the past we have seen how governments have relied on text messages to warn its citizens about impending danger, like a natural disaster for example. Well over in Japan it seems that text messages can also be used to warn its citizens of incoming missile strikes.
Before you get too worried, no there isn’t a war happening in Japan right now, but we guess it’s better to have a system in place in the event that something like that should ever happen, right? (more…)

This is a little unsettling. A year-long investigation into alleged cheating on proficiency exams has resulted in the dismissal of nine nuclear missile commanders at the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. The military expects to punish dozens of junior officers, as well.
In what is easily one of the stranger twists in the military takeover of Crimea, the Russians have seized control of Ukraine’s navy dolphin fleet. Yes, dolphins. The annals of dolphin military history is actually teeming with improbable tales, so let this be your guide to the cetacean Cold War.
There really isn’t anything new under the sun, as you can see from the fashion cycles that tend to repeat themselves from time to time. I am still waiting for the moment where big is beautiful instead of the waif-like models that we still see strut the catwalk and selfies online. Having said that, it seems that blimps and zeppelins do have a special place in the hearts of many, as the U.S. Army even intends to use spy blimps for future conflicts. StratoBus intends to be part of the blimp future, where it is an airship that was specially designed to travel all the way to the Earth’s stratosphere.

Say you’re a member of a search and rescue team. You get an alert that a kid is missing somewhere out there in your waterways, but the record-setting drought this year has left your rivers and streams impossibly shallow. Whatever. As long as you have four inches of water, you’re golden.
When you hear of a former United States naval vessel being set on fire later this coming August, fret not, it is not a naval exercise that had gone awry, and neither is it a successful terrorist attack, but rather, the U.S. Navy intends to use it as a platform to test firefighting robots. The use of firefighting robots are meant to prevent the loss of lives in the event of a fire. If successful, I am quite sure that there is still plenty of work to be done before these humanoid robots would be given full reign of a firefighting effort on board a ship, which might take a fair number of years before it is perfected.

Imagine being able to capture solar power in the vastness and emptiness of space itself, before you send it down to the earth for humanity to consume. After all, it is not as though the world’s oil reserves are unlimited – no sir, we have been making effort to ensure that the world’s energy consumption is as efficient as possible, but this latest idea from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) might just be feasible – to come up with the ability for the military to “capture” solar power in orbit, before projecting it back down to earth.
