Several NATO Websites Brought Down By Hackers

NATO announced today that several of its public websites were brought down by hackers. It appears to be retaliation in the cyberspace with regards to increasing tensions over Crimea. Oana Lungescu, a spokeswoman for NATO, revealed via Twitter that the cyberattacks began on Saturday evening and continued well into Sunday. The alliance has since been able to restore most services.

    iPhone 5s Replacement Given To Soldier 3 Months LaterIt was just yesterday when we talked about how a certain Staff Sgt. Shaun Frank’s life was apparently saved by his iPhone when his iPhone 5s managed to absorb some of the impact from the ball bearings and shrapnel from a teenage suicide bomber, and hence it was suspected that his smartphone saved his life while he was on tour in Afghanistan. Part of the iPhone 5s’ metal body was able to absorb part of the impact, as well as deflect some of the shrapnel away, but this did not mean that he walked away unscathed, of course – there were still some wounds to heal.

    Lasers On Airplanes Help Deflect Incoming Missiles

    Israel, a small country that is mostly surrounded by hostile neighbors, has managed to hold its own for so many decades now, with a history that spans back to thousands of years. They have been a target of terrorist attacks from time to time, and passengers aboard commercial aircraft who happen to fly to and from Israel can heave a sigh of relief soon thanks to an invisible shield made that is known as MUSIC. MUSIC happens to be an acronym for MUlti-Spectral Infrared Countermeasure, where this fast acting laser system is more than capable of deflecting shoulder-mounted missiles.

    President Obama: We Are Building Iron Man. Maybe.

    Remember that scene in the first Iron Man movie where Tony Stark admits that he is Iron Man? Well President Barack Obama had a similar moment when he recently announced the the US Army will be building an Iron Man-like suit of their own.

    In his speech (check it out in the video above), President Obama was quoted as saying, “Basically, I’m here to announce that we’re building Iron Man […] Not really. Maybe. It’s classified,” which was then accompanied by laughs. Some might think he’s joking but in reality, he’s not. (more…)
