Minecraft will be coming to the Xbox One. The game will arrive as the “Xbox One Edition” and while there are still some unannounced details, there were a few key items mentioned during the Microsoft E3 event. The game was introduced by Microsoft Corporate VP Phil Harrison who said Minecraft will arrive for the Xbox
Minecraft is coming to Xbox One as a special edition with expanded multiplayer capabilities. The popular sandbox game will also be getting massively larger worlds, something that wasn’t possible on the 360 thanks to its limited RAM. If there are any other new features or updates we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out, the title was mentioned only very quickly during Microsoft’s E3 press event. But, we wouldn’t worry about Mojang drastically altering the formula that has worked so well.

Man of Steel: Minecraft Style
Posted in: Today's ChiliPeople can do some amazing things with Minecraft. What if you could re-create a movie in Minecraft right down to the expressions on the faces of the actors? Well, it would look a lot like this.
Creative studio Steelehouse has taken the “Ideal of Hope” trailer for the new Man of Steel movie and reproduced it frame by frame as if Superman and all of Metropolis existed in Minecraft. The results are geek gold. The audio from the actual trailer is reproduced here to complete the experience.
It’s well worth a watch, especially if you are a Superman fan. Though it would have been even better if they really created it with the Minecraft engine.

After the success that was Minecraft, the game’s developer Mojang is at it again with a new game. However, they’re taking a different approach this time around. Instead of making a pixelated sandbox-world title, they’re teasing what looks to be a Magic-esque game that has some really good cartoonish graphics. Scrolls, as it’s called, has been given a launch date and the public beta is coming next month.
The game’s public beta is launching on June 3, which is an exact week from today. You’ll have to pay up $20 for the game, which will be available on Windows and OS X, but it seems the game will be mostly ready to go anyway, as the development team is confident about the game’s launch, despite it still being in a beta.
Scrolls is essentially a digital trading card game, and it shows warriors battling out the results of actions and powers listed on cards when played. Players will also be able to trade cards, build decks, and play in tournaments, so the mechanics of the game will be a lot like playing an actual physical card game with friends, except this method is over the internet.
From the trailer alone, the game looks to have a lot of different components that come together nicely, and it seems the replay value will be pretty high. You’ll be able to purchase items with coins, and it looks like the game will be rife with in-app purchases as well, which should be a huge revenue opportunity for Mojang.
Overall, the trailer looks exciting, and while I’m personally not a huge fan of the fantasy genre, I do like a good card game every now and then, and this looks to be something that I could easily get into. $20 isn’t too bad of a price, either, so you better prepare to take part in the beta, as the final version will be more expensive when it initially launches.

It seems Sony really wants Minecraft on its PlayStation platform, all the way to the point that the company is bribing the game’s creator, Markus Persson, with a VIP E3 2013 invite and what looks to be a gold-plated PSone console, as well as an original copy of Dungeon Master 2. Persson seems to be laughing it off, though.
Persson tweeted this morning that he received a “VIP invitation to an E3 event from Sony in the form of a gold colored PSone.” He also tweeted that he was sent “an original copy of Dungeon Master 2″ that Sony apparently just “had lying around for some reason,” ending with a quip saying that the company “sure knows how to bribe nerds.”
However, Persson says that the PSone “came without video or power cables,” so there’s no way to know if it actually works or not, but apparently Sony just assumed that whoever received a gold-plated PSone wouldn’t actually play with the thing, but who wouldn’t? Persson says he’ll be digging through storage boxes to find some old cables to see the console actually works.
Persson has not been afraid to be outspoken on the platforms that he doesn’t like. He recently bashed Windows 8 for not being “open” enough, dashing all hopes that a Windows 8-compatible version of Minecraft would come to Microsoft’s new operating system. And while Minecraft has been on the Xbox 360 for a while, the PlayStation has yet to receive the same benefit.
Minecraft broke Xbox Live Arcade records with over six million copies of Minecraft sold on the console. However, that might be where the fun stops, as Persson didn’t seem too excited about the Xbox One, saying that it felt more like a television set-top box rather than a gaming console. Could this be the last we see of Persson making games for consoles? Then again, if he’s also not excited about Windows 8, he has a limited number of platforms to go to, other than mobile.
