Pet Cube – Play with your Pet, from Anywhere!

img-6

One thing’s for sure. I am an animal lover. Since I was a kid I have always felt like my life was enhanced by sharing it with a little creature of some kind. The only time I question pet parenthood is when I have to leave the little guy alone for a while. I always picture them bored and lonely, or worse, eating my couch to pay me back for my selfishness. If only there was a way to interact with my pet from anywhere…

Check out the Petcube. No longer will you have to worry and wonder what your little furry friends are up to, the Petcube is a fabulously cool gadget that will let you watch, talk, and even play with your pets from just about anywhere. Petcube is equipped with a wide angle camera, a microphone, and speakers all encased in a durable 4 inch aluminum cube.

Petcube utilizes a mobile application that allows you to really talk, and play with your pet! You can see your pet, and use joystick type action in order to zip a laser pointer around the room tantalizing your favorite feline or engaging your pooch in a rousing game of cat and mouse. And if your pet isn’t in the same room as the Petcube? Simply call him, using the microphone and speakers. Too fun!

Petcube also let’s others play with your pets, and you can even share your interactions with social media sites. Future plans for this device include installations in animal shelters, allowing friends of animals or potential adopters to play with the pets.

Petcube is a fully funded Kickstarter project and is expected to have a price tag right around 200 bucks, a small price to pay to be able to play with your little buddies whenever you want. Check out petcube.net or kickstarter for ship dates and much more info.

Oppo N1 delivers a new mobile photography experience

oppo-n1How many of you do take advantage of your smartphone’s camera as the primary digital camera instead of using the DSLR or Micro Four Thirds shooter that you purchased a while back? I suppose important functions would still see you whip out that full sized camera, but most of the time, the smartphone’s camera has advanced to a point where it is capable of taking “good enough” photos for everyday use. Oppo intends to change the way we snap photos using our smartphones, with the launch of their latest flagship device, the Oppo N1.

The Oppo N1 holds the distinction of being the first smartphone from the spanking new N-Lens flagship series that will feature a rotating camera, now how about that? Not only that, there is also a rear touch panel that will work in tandem with the generous touchscreen display, where every single bit of the design has been thought up of in advance to deliver a totally new smartphone experience to the masses.

Arriving in only one color – white, the Oppo N1 will tip the scales at 213 grams with its body that measures 170.7mm x 82.6mm x 9mm, and it will run on Oppo’s special Color OS that is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Underneath the hood you will also be able to find a quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with an Adreno 320 GPU, sporting 2GB RAM alongside an internal memory capacity of either 16GB or 32GB, depending on your budget. Powering the Oppo N1 would be a rather beefy 3,610 mAh battery, which would come in handy throughout the whole day since it sports a 5.9″ Full HD IPS display at a whopping 377ppi pixel density.

Not only that, it has a 13-megapixel shooter with dual mode LED and f/2.0 aperture, which can rotate at a cool 206-degrees so that you can capture images from angles that you never imagined possible with a regular smartphone camera. Not only that, the camera will securely lock at any angle, and hopefully the mechanism will be able to stand the test of time! Pricing details for the Oppo N1 remain to be confirmed, but we do know that it is slated for a December release.

GameCase iOS game controller brings mobile gaming to the next level

gamecaseWhen the iPhone 5s was first announced, one of the things that blew away the audience was the fact that its 64-bit processor, working in tandem with some great coding, could deliver some high quality graphics in a game. Of course, a full touchscreen display is not going to be optimal when it comes to some of the more complex games out there, not to mention you would always have a finger (or two) appearing on the display, blocking out your view in select parts that might just dampen your portable gaming experience. What is needed would be a physical controller, and this is where the GameCase iOS game controller comes in handy.

The GameCase is meant to propel mobile gaming to unprecedented heights, where it will redefine the way games are played on the iPad as well as iPhone. Harnessing the power of iOS 7 as well as Apple’s new MFi controller framework, you can more or less say that GameCase is here to usher in a new era of mobile gaming. Whenever you game on your iOS 7-powered device with the GameCase hooked up, it offers a natural and familiar console quality feel. Sporting a couple of analog sticks and tactile buttons, it would be able to provide an increased level of accuracy and precision.

Apart from that, there is also a thoughtfully crafted design as well as non-slip rubber surface which will alleviate fatigue, paving the way for hours of comfortable and competitive play – as long as your device’s battery lasts, of course. Right now, GameCase and iOS developers are working together in order to roll out exciting new games which will be able to take advantage of the device’s incredible features.

There is still no word on pricing just yet, however, but would you be willing to pick up the GameCase when it is finally made available to the masses?

Elecom NFC Android Wireless Keyboard makes a tiny, portable workspace

Elecom NFC Android Keyboard
We have a lot of gizmos and gadgets that allow us to keep working even when we’re not at work. Having a smartphone gives you a central hub where you can work, play, and keep in touch with friends and family. Of course, if you need to write up a more official email, and want to do so without awkwardly tapping on your phone, it might be nice to have a separate keyboard laying about.

If you need the tactile feel of having a keyboard when typing away from your computer, then the Elecom NFC (near field communication) Android Wireless Keyboard may be of some use. Obviously, this is only for those who have an Android phone, and will only work with 4.0 and above. Seeing as you do already have a keyboard on the face of your phone, this is only for physical satisfaction of getting to press some keys.

This is a somewhat awkwardly made keyboard that is structured so that you need to put your phone in between the two halves of the keyboard. This will make it a tad awkward if you have a phablet (phone/tablet). It measures 2.6×13.4×0.4”, and is constructed out of silicone. You’ll have to drop $60 or more on this venture if you’re interested, but seeing as it would only be compatible with one type of device, it may be better to get a wireless keyboard that will work with your other gizmos as well.

Topcor Tech Wallet – puts all of your essentials in one spot

Topcor Tech Wallet
There are so many gadgets and gizmos that we carry around during the day and it seems like there are only going to be more of them. You want your MP3 player, phone, tablet, laptop, headphones, backup battery, extra cables, and a few different flashlight options for those ‘just in case’ times. OK, I’m exaggerating, but we do carry around a lot more than we need to. When it comes down to it, all you really need are your cards, maybe some cash, and your phone.

It’s hard trying to downsize, and normally you still need to worry about keeping both your phone and money holder within your general vicinity. The Topcor Tech Wallet will make sure your wallet and your phone don’t stray too far away from each other. While there are many cases that have a sort of card/money holder integrated in, this is a different take.

The Tech Wallet uses an adhesive pad to stick to your phone case, and utilizes a low-profile hook and loop (velcro) to keep the your phone and wallet together. You’ll have to apply the backing with some amount of precision, but it is removable with some heat and finagling. The wallet can hold 8 cards, 12 bills, and four or more business cards. Made of nylon and coming only in black, this will cost you around $20 if you’re interested. The wallet can be used as a stand aside from its main function in either portrait or landscape mode. This will play nice with the iPhone 4 and 5, Galaxy S3, HTC One, and just about any other smartphone as it’s just a sticky Velcro pad and wallet.

Paperback for the iPhone 5 wants you to remember to pick up some milk

PAPERBACK-groceries
Slowly but surely, we’re filtering our use of paper out completely as we use phones, tablets, and computers more. Of course, many of us are used to writing things down with ink or graphite, and typing just doesn’t feel the same. This is especially the case when you get to cross things off on a sizable to-do list. It is a complete waste of paper, but there’s a different sense of accomplishment that comes from this method rather than backspacing something off of a note.

If you don’t want to completely give up on your old habits, then the Paperback for the iPhone 5 will assist you. There may be apps to do this exact function, but if your phone dies or breaks, you’re going to be sad about life pretty quickly. This is an iPhone 5-sized stack of post-it notes that will stick to the back of your case. This means you can doodle, take notes, or write down directions if you don’t want to unlock your phone, find the notepad, wait for the keyboard to load properly, and type it in.

This may only save you a few seconds of time, but there are times in life where you don’t want to wait on your phone to get up to speed. If you have this first world problem, then these are available for $8, and only come in yellow. It is a stack of them, so you can choose how many you stick on at once. The only fear I would have is their adhesive nature not being strong enough to withstand the abuse my phone goes through daily and falling off on the regular.
