LG Introduces New 34-Inch IPS Monitor

LG Introduces New 34 Inch IPS MonitorCES 2014 is set to be another time of exciting news as well as the unveiling of additional consumer electronics devices that will (hopefully) blow the world away, and the folks over at LG intend to make the most of it by announcing that they will roll out their all new 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor. Of course, just in case you do not need such a large monitor for your use, there is also the 29” model to choose from. Needless to say, your eyes will definitely appreciate the stunning image clarity courtesy of the UltraWide QHD resolution (3440 x 1440) that is found on the display.

A larger monitor more often than not equals to improved productivity, sort of anyways. After all, you have more stuff to look at with a single glance, that you should be able to work more effectively, right? It is said that in South Korea, such monitors are marketed as the equivalent of two 4:3 monitors to boost “productivity”. The inclusion of Thunderbolt 2 connectivity in the UM95 would also go some way in making sure that users who use such technology are able to take advantage of it, supporting high-resolution displays and high-performance data devices simultaneously via a single, compact port. This means you can theoretically enjoy transfer speeds of up to 20Gbps, while viewing and editing original 4K video with a file backup running at the same time.

All in all, we have also seen such monitors make an appearance in one of LG’s more recent advertisements that poke some good natured fun at us men, touting that we are unable to multitask. [Press Release]

After all, if you are going to sit in front of a computer for hours on end, you might as well give your eyes the very best. Having a good pair of glasses (if you wear one), and taking precautions such as focusing your eyes on things that are far away from time to time would also help. Of course, using a fantastic monitor would also go some way in making sure that your eyes do not get too tired quickly. Dell has revealed a new 24” monitor that will boast of 4K Ultra HD resolution, delivering a whopping 3840 x 2160 pixels – that would make it four times the resolution of Full HD, which is quite an act to follow up on.

Known as the Dell 4K Ultra HD monitor, or the Dell UP2414Q if you like, some of the other hardware specifications are bound to impress you – including a 16:9 aspect ratio, 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz (DP1.2*) 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz HDMI with a contrast ratio of 1000: 1 (typical)/2 Million:1 (Max) (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) and a brightness of 350 cd/m2 and 185 PPI.

Dell claims that regardless of whether you are using it for video editing, CGI animation or application and game development, the Dell UP2414Q UltraSharp 24” monitor will be able to deliver an up-close-and-personal view without breaking out in sweat. Your eyes will be treated to a clear and consistent view with an ultrawide 178°/178° viewing angle. Of course, pricing and availability details remain to be confirmed, but we are pretty sure that more information will be revealed in due time – and hopefully before the calendar makes the leap into 2014.
