What the hell is this underwater unicorn from the infernal deeps?

Scientists have identified a mysterious animal captured in the arctic waters of Canada’s Hudson Strait region. They thought this gelatinous beast was a goblin shark, but now they claim it’s a Rhinochimaeridae—commonly known as "long-nosed chimaera" or "underwater unicorn from the infernal deeps die you bloody bastard die" fish.

Stack and Scare Wooden Monster Blocks Do Exactly What Their Name Claims

Check out these awesome kids blocks from Invisible Creature. These colorful blocks are called Stack and Scare for obvious reasons. You stack ‘em up and have a good scare with the monsters that you create. There are four different sets of stackable wooden blocks that look like monster parts.

LEGO is great, but these blocks are really colorful and fun in their own way. I think many adults would have just as much fun as the kids when playing with these sets.

Monster DNA Pro wireless headphones are set to tingle your ears

monster-dna-proNot all headphones are created equal, this much I believe in. When it comes to Monster, their wealth of experiencing when it comes to high performance personal audio products will certainly show in their future devices, and for now, the introduction of the brand new Monster DNA Pro is testament to the company’s pedigree. This latest addition to the DNA range would bring along with it the distinctive triangular shaped ear cups and Monster’s next generation sound Pure Monster Sound, where the latter would introduce noise isolation technology to the mix. Even better news is this – the DNA PRO will not require any kind of batteries or recharging to work, it just does when plugged in to a compatible audio playback device.

Right now, we do know that the Monster DNA Pro will arrive as a Best Buy exclusive, where you will be able to choose from a couple of colors – namely White Tuxedo and Matte Black. Regardless of which color you pick up, you will have to fork out a rather hefty $299.95 for a pair, but bear in mind that this is Monster that we are talking about, and their products rarely fall on the cheap side of things.

The Monster DNA Pro has been designed by Head Monster Noel Lee, where Pure Monster Sound within it would also make use of Monster’s latest proprietary technologies so that the listener would be able to enjoy the full experience of live music, boasting extreme clarity, tight articulation, and deep pounding bass that will motivate you to achieve at your highest level of performance.

There is another innovative capability of the Monster DNA Pro, which would fall under the purview of Monster Music Share, where it will feature dual-port inputs that would pave the way for up to five headphones in order to connect simultaneously in order to share their audio experience.

LEGO Monsters vs. Mecha Dioramas: Pacific Bricks

Hobby Inside is a South Korean professional LEGO building crew. They make multi-layered and very detailed LEGO dioramas for display. While most of their work depict cities and landscapes, they also have a handful of dioramas that feature monsters and mechas duking it out on a wrecked city, like this unmistakable nod to Pacific Rim:

I’ve also included Hobby Inside’s two other robot versus kaiju pieces in the gallery below. One features a Mothra lookalike – Hobby Inside calls it Mothle – while the other has a Godzilla lookalike called Legora and a giant robot called Insider-V (perhaps a mix of Gundam and Combattler-V?).

What I really love about Hobby Inside’s dioramas is how they use LEGO to represent motion and objects that I would never have imagined could be depicted with LEGO. Things like the vapor trail behind the Jaeger’s missiles, Mothle’s web, Legora’s flame and smoke rings and the exhaust coming out of Insider-V’s rocket fist.

If you want to see more of these dioramas, Hobby Inside has detailed breakdowns on its website. The site is in Korean, but it’s worth checking out just for the pictures.

Godzilla: One Ring to Stomp Them All

Godzilla is an awesome creature. What’s not to like about a huge-ass monster stomping around Tokyo fighting other monsters, while they lay waste to the city? If Godzilla wore jewelry on his reptilian digits, you know he would wear one of these amazing rings and punch Mothra’s face in with it.

This custom silver Godzilla ring is hand-carved and cast from Sterling silver by Etsy artist UrbanHunting. You can choose sizes 8 through 12 and it will cost you $500(USD). This is a hefty ring obviously, because Godzilla is one hefty Kaiju. This isn’t some skinny ring for Hobbits.

I would suggest finding some other monster rings and arranging daily fights across your knuckles, if you can find someone who makes them anyway. I guess for now, you’ll just be rocking Godzilla all by himself.

LEGO Halloween Monster Minifig Crayons: Happy LEGOween!

Kids love LEGO Minifigs. They also love crayons. Halloween too. Heck, kids love just about everything but brussel sprouts. These Halloween themed LEGO Minifig crayons will keep your little tykes busy coloring in style while you do other important things. Like play with LEGO bricks.

These cute minifigs with crayons inside were created by Etsy artist CynsSensations and are a treat not a trick. You get 24 per order for $20(USD). If you want them personalized, she can do that too. The name will be placed on the bottom of the minifigs’ shirts.

Pretty cool. However, you better hurry if you want some. The last day to order for Halloween delivery is October 18th. I bet you don’t have these in your LEGO collection.

Monster M7 Tablet Arriving At Walmart

Monster M7 Tablet Arriving At WalmartFolks, if you have been on the lookout for a highly affordable tablet that gets the basics catered for, then you might want to check out what Walmart.com has in store for you. It is said that Walmart will carry the $149 Monster M7 7” 720p Android-powered tablet soon, with the larger sized 10” Monster M10 tablet following after. Hmmm, who would have thought that a company like Monster would actually decide to take the plunge into the growing tablet market? Having said that, what you see above, the Monster M7 7” tablet, does seem to share its fair share of sleek lines that would make people look in its direction a couple of times, trying to figure out just which manufacturer it is fron.

Still, the Monster M7 has some rather underwhelming specifications, including a 1280×800 display, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and Mini HDMI connectivity, a 5-megapixel shooter at the back and a 2-megapixel camera up front. All in all, the Monster M7 will be available for $149 at Walmart.com. Do you think that the Monster M7 and subsequently, the Monster M10, will be able to sell well?

LEGO Cthulhu Will Destroy Your Sanity

When you cast your eyes upon LEGO Cthulhu you will lose any sanity that you have left. It is simply pure evil and awesome to behold. It will leave you a drooling quivering mess that is better off dead. But, hey, don’t let that stop you. It’s an amazing geek creation.

    LEGO cthulu

This custom LEGO sculpture debuted at Bricks by the Bay recently and was made by Carl Merriam. It took 1,400 bricks, and he actually made it look frightening. All of the details are stunning. It took around 30 hours to complete.

The ancient one has awakened and he is amazingly awesome. Even in brick form. Great job Carl. Don’t sleep with the lights off.

Pacific Rim Kaiju Monster Stomps Through Qualcomm Stadium

I’m totally stoked that Pacific Rim is finally hitting theaters today. I can’t wait to go see it and watch giant robots battle giant monsters on the IMAX screen. While awaiting the arrival of the film on the big screen, one of the giant Kaiju monsters apparently made its presence known at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

    kaiju footprint 1

The creature left gigantic footprints around the parking lot and inside of the stadium, before returning to the ocean.

    kaiju footprints 2

Obviously, the footprints weren’t left by an actual monster. At least I don’t think so. I’ve been told they were created as a promotional stunt for Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, to promote Pacific Rim and the Pacific Rim Kaiju Battle Android game. Still, the effort to create these massive footprints was gargantuan. Here are some stats on the footprints and how they were made:

    • 32,000 sq ft of industrial grade material, with 28,400 sq ft of printable area
    • Made up of scrim vinyl and 7oz poly-lined black out material
    • 56 rolls of scrim material, 150ft long each
    • 6000 ft of industrial adhesive compound tape
    • 72 hours of non-stop printing
    • 80 liters of ink (60 cases)
    • The layout of one footprint spans the length of 40 8-ft tables
    • Sewing together the footprints took 28 hours on industrial sewing machines
    • Each footprint weighed about 480 pounds, and it took 12 people to carry each one into position

There’s no sign of any Jaeger prints in the area, so you’d better keep your eyes peeled if you’re in the San Diego area.
